Additional info & updates

I have a very compelling personal story.... hardships overcome with pluck and humor, that kind of thing.

I have wanted law school since 1987......

My first LSAT was such a disappointment.

My UGPA is from almost 20 years ago, so I'm hoping it carries less weight.

I expected the rejection from UVA... knew that was a reach.

I can't relocate, so my choices are limited.

12/29 (1 AM) -- I have GOT to go to bed and stop Pretzel Brain Twisting over this. I'm going to lose it!

1/3 -- Spoke with Dean Dunn. I'm impressed at how accessible the deans are and how personal the process is at W & M. After the conversation, I've decided to go on "hold" status pending Feb. LSAT's. Back to the LSAT Powerscore book. Wonder if I'll hear from Richmond?

2/22 -- New LSAT score is a 161!!! AND I am in VEGAS!!! Life could not be better!

3/14 -- Still no word from either UR or W & M. Getting very anxious. Also, A Stunning Development... relocation is now possible! So, I'm throwing the net a little wider, who knows what will happen now with this crazy cycle.

3/15 -- GW and Geo Mason applications filed. Both have rolling admissions and GW is a reach anyway, so it's probably a waste of money but maybe lightening will strike.

3/18 -- Waitlisted at Richmond. The letter said they reduced the size of their entering class and raised their median #'s. They created the waiting list with, "the epxectation that many of those chosen will be offered a place in the class." Is that just to make me feel good? sigh. more waiting.

3/20 -- Email from Geo Mason; I'm complete and in review.

3/22 -- Small envelope from W & M. Waitlist. Keep hope alive!!!

4/11 -- Ding from Geo. Mason; expected it so no big deal.

4/16 -- Phone call from Dean Rahman; in at Richmond. Yay!

that we're in somewhat similar situations. i have to admit that i don't think taking the feb. LSAT for this cycle is the greatest idea; rolling admissions will almost surely destroy your hopes. nevertheless, good luck with whatever you decide on and i hope you all the best.

After carefully reading over your profile, I must strongly recommend that you seriously consider retaking the lsat. W&M is one of the few schools where taking the February lsat wont hurt you too badly as they like to wait until they have the most qualified class. I think a score of 160 to 165 will assure you of a much better shot at acceptance. email me if you want to talk in more detail.

Good luck! I'm slowly falling in love with the school...but I think I have about a 0 percent chance of getting in. Oh well..... Taking the LSAT again is tough, but you can do it!

sorry this response took so long

clearly i don't check this very often; not sure where Richmond ranks for me, i think it will all depend on how the money works out best of luck to you w/ your applications

On your February score! Must be very satisfying....hope William and Mary gives you the nod soon. Jealous of your Vegas break. Love the city. Hope you got to take in a Cirque show or two... Best of luck.

No... no email and no phone call!!! I have to call schools every week because our mailman delivers mail to the wrong address rather habitually... I call and I ask if a decision letter has been sent out and what date it was sent and when I don't receive it a few days later I go around the neighborhood searching for it...its rather irritating!!! But I'm not too worried since they haven't sent any rejections out to people on this site

thanks for the message. i'm a lil torn between my undergrad psu and hofstra right now. definitely prefer UofR since it's so close to home but that's not up to me at this point. yeah, i'm going to wait it out as long as i can take it. feels like a dangerous game of chicken.

Best of luck with WM! Its really cool that you're going back to school. I'm doing it as a single parent so I'm always glad to see other non-trad people going :)
