***Ok folks... I'm off to Chicago for law school in about a week, so it's about time to retire my page. But for any applicants in the coming years who want information or advice on the application process, Kent, or law school itself, feel free to IM me or write me at jeremyhagee@yahoo.com. I'm happy to help. Good luck to everybody in the future!!
-Jeremy

FYI... All scholarship amounts are for all 3 years... I really wish the site was more specific and uniform about that.

* 02-06
Hot damn! Rutgers gave me my first acceptance! It's such a relief to finally be in the decision phase of this grueling process! Rutgers isn't in my top tier of choices, but it's not a safety school either, so it feels good to get an acceptance from a middle-of-the-road program from the start. Hopefully it's a good omen for things to come. Offered 8k/year merit scholarship.

*02/07
The head of the IP Department (my intended concentration) at DePaul called me and offered me an $18k/year merit scholarhip. I was very happy to get this call... Now I'm even more anxious to hear from Chicago-Kent!

*02/10
I got an email from Quinnipiac indicating that I'd been admitted, although I got the impression that I was supposed to get some other letter or email first b/c it didn't read like a first-time announcement. This was my safety and I expect I will drop out of the running here unless some ridonkulous scholarship is offered.

*2/13
Got letter from Quinnipiac today offering $25k/year. I'm very flattered, but seriously doubt I'll take it. But I am going to give it some more thought first before I offically withdraw there. On a different note, DePaul sent me a t-shirt today. They're good at staying in front of you and keeping them on your mind. I can see why they've been able to recruit better and better students in recent years.

*2/15
Decisions from Northeastern and Pacific today! Northeastern is offering the standard $8.5k. I'm not trying to be greedy or anything, but they really need to retool their scholarship system. When better schools give more money, how are they supposed to compete. I guess they're pretty much automatically out. Pacific should be sending scholarship info soon. They made me a Legal Scholar, which means they're going to pay for my books and even fly me out there! I didn't know schools ever paid for students to visit... So that was a really cool surprise. I wasn't really seriously considering them anymore, but if they're offering, I might as well go out there and see what it's like in person!

*2/23
Whoo hoo! Finally... Accepted to Chicago-Kent! I was starting to worry! Decision received via email. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the letter, hoping for a little money.... Pass along the good vibes....

*2/26
Letter from Pacific offering $12k/year. I guess that puts them out of the running. I'm appreciative of the offer, however. I'll probably withdraw soon.

*3/01
Yay! Letter from Chicago-Kent with $20k. Now they're the one to beat!

*3/19
So I basically have grown tired of this whole blogging thing and quit updating for the last couple of weeks. On 3/9, I visited Chicago for the very first time in my life and fell in love with both the city and Chicago-Kent in my first afternoon. If you've never been, Chicago's like a super clean, friendly, and affordable NYC. I anticipate a very high quality of life there. I toured Chicago-Kent and was blown away by how nice and modern their facilities are. It seemed infinitely nicer than Cardozo's, which just finished an extensive renovation. My visit made me 1000% certain that this is where I want to go to law school and I will be sending in my deposit after getting paid on 4/1. I never dreamed my decision would be this easy and unconflicted. Now I just need to come up with financing and a place to live and I'll be all set... :) Looks like this is never going to get easier.

*3/21
So I got a call from Brooklyn today offering me admission into their part-time day program, where after your first semester, if you have a 2.5, you can transfer into the full-time day program. My only other option was a waitlist spot. I was like WTF?? I suppose I'm just surprised at such a large admissions disparity between such comparable schools. Honestly, the call was a moot point... I thanked her, declined both options, and let them know I had already decided on Kent... But it still left me a little puzzled. Oh well... Ego can be a bitch sometimes. I guess I should thank them for the advanced ego check b/c I know those are pretty frequent and necessary throughout law school. I'm just glad my decision had already been made b/c I would have been sorely disappointed if they'd still been one of my top choices!

Totally hear ya about Northeastern, I haven't heard about $$$ yet, but I don't know why they never go over 8.5/year. Doesn't make sense like you said, if a better school offers your more money, there's no motivation to go to NE unless you REALLY love it. Where you thinkin is #1?

You have some nice financial packages there! Congrats! =) I see we are both applying to Emory. Are you also very antsy about getting a response from them? It seems they are letting in all the insanely high scores first and waiting before getting back to us 'in range' students. GL with the rest of your schools!

Congrats on Rutgers

Still waiting on a decision from there, but hopeful... I have a bit of an odd application, since I did my undergrad in England. I have no idea how that's going to play to an application board. Case seems to be taking its sweet time with everybody... is it high on your list? I have lived in Cleveland for the last few months and I have to say it keeps going down my list just because of the city. It could be great but no one takes advantage of what Cleve. has to offer... still a great school though so we'll see. Great scholarship offers btw!

Kent and Cincy are by far my number 1/2. I've visited Kent and I really loved it. Awesome facility right in the heart of downtown. You'll love chicago, man. My girlriend is from there and a lot of my friends took jobs down there after graduation. It is a town full of young 20 somethings. You can find whatever you're into down there. I love the march madness "darkhorse" analogy. In the respect that I didn't think Kent would offer me that much money, I think they're my darkhorse too. good Luck the rest of the cycle!

It has been so long since I have applied to Emory and they still haven't gotten back to me yet... I am expecting a decision any day now. No matter how it goes, I probably will be going to W&M now. At least they know how to treat someone that has applied since day one =p I understand why you wouldn't want to be in the same place another three years... I considered staying at my school, but didn't even apply because I am also in need of change. I am not looking forward to the coldness of Virginia though =X

Don't be down about it. You have some great picks up there with some equally great cash. I will probably be waitlisted as well, for it seems that Emory is really trying to raise their ranking by letting in everyone that is using them as a backup school. But oh well, unless they offered lots of cash (which is an impossibility) I wouldnt go there anyway. Best wishes for your future. Hopefully we both do well in law school =)

Are you planning on going to ASW this weekend? I'm heading out there on Saturday only. Also, have you found a typical 1l curve for Kent? I'm loving the school as much as you, I'm just getting some crazy jitters about finally pulling the trigger. You seem to have very similar #s and opportunities as me, let me know what you think. take care, joe
