Additional info & updates

Hey folks, I haven't been good at updating this at all. I'll be better now for those who might want to follow these schools.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Got accepted to W&M, GW, and GULC PT. My preference is GULC PT since I now work in Washington. I would, of course, take Cornell or Berkeley over GULC PT or some very serious scholarships from the other schools. But with my numbers, I don't think it's likely.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2/15 I've been in contact with a friend of mine who's a GULC PT graduate. He now works at a big firm in DC. I asked him questions about the program for two hours straight. lol, kinda like an interrogation. If you have some questions about the program, post them below and I'll do my best to answer them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2/28 Just got an acceptance to L&C. They said I qualify for scholarship but they're out of money. Even if they offered a full ride I wouldn't have gone. So this is a definite no for L&C
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2/28 Rejection letter from Berkeley. Not surprised at all. On the bright side, that just made a decision a lot easier between GULC and Berkeley. lol.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2/29 Toys! Just received a nice leather-looking organizer from GULC with tons of GULC information inside. Also got a GW law jump drive. Thanks guys!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/08 Deferred at W&L. I'm okay with that. I should probably withdraw from there anyway.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/10 Waitlisted at Boston College. They put me on a "priority waitlist," whatever that's supposed to mean. I kinda saw BC as a #2 choice behind Georgetown. They want me to send a filled-out form if I'm still interested. Otherwise, they'll withdraw me from consideration. I don't think I will send anything and consider it a withdraw on my part.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/24 Accepted to BU Law in a strange way. I got an e-mail that said, "Again, congratulations on your acceptance to BU Law." They then invited me to an admitted student open house. I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet. Either it was a mistake or a real acceptance. I'm going to assume the latter. lol
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/25 E-mailed BU Law to see if I got in for real. They called me on the phone to tell me I got in. However, after reading the student surveys for BU on vault.com, I'm very discouraged from going. Many students reported bad job prospects.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/26 Fordham acceptance via e-mail.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/28 An expected waitlist at Vandy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
4/15 Waitlisted at UCLA, rejected at Cornell. As it stands right now, I'd only really consider UCLA as a contendor with GULC. I was on business travel last week to Boston. Had the chance to pass by BU's law school and campus. It looked a bit dingy and unhospitable. No go on BU for me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
4/26 Accepted at U. of Illinois.

On Georgetown!

Just got accepted to Georgetown PT today. Came in small, tan envelope. Dean wrote a note at the bottom. I'm very excited about this one and it'll probably be my first choice, since I work in Washington D.C. now. Unless Berkeley or Cornell make me offer (Fat chance with my numbers) I'm going to Georgetown PT.

Congrats on GULC! We sent on the same day. My hope (prayer?) is that they like us new year applicants.

I am in awe

Those are awesome acceptances. Of course, with your softs, I'm not surprised at all. Congratulations

No doubt. I've worked in Washington for several summers and a semester during school and literally can't wait to return (if I'm able to). Working during school will be a necessity, and something that frankly I wouldn't mind doing. I do wish, however, that I was already up there with a job. I agree with your statement on the numbers, too. I hope my statements speak to what they are looking for. If you don't mind me asking, what was the focus of your PS? Congratulations again!

congrats!

Hi! We have VERY similar numbers (165, 3.8) ~~ I just got my acceptance from GULC PT today! It was also in a thin, cream envelop with a handwritten note on it... Just wondering, did your friend say there was any difference in job opportunities as a PT student? I know that the median scores for FT and PT are different... And also, how successful are PT-ers in transferring to FT? Any response will be helpful!! I'm debating between GW and GULC PT...and am having difficulty. Thanks! And Congrats!!

thanks!

Thanks for the response ~ it helped a lot! This decision process is going to be a long one for me... I just recieved my acceptance package from Emory today. Good luck on your cycle! Keep me posted on where you decided to go ~ maybe I'll see you this fall :0) Thanks again ~~

Sorry to hear about BC. That's too bad but you've got GULC so the rest doesn't matter right ;) As for me, UCLA's rejection sucked but I don't know if I ever would have gotten in looking at all the 168-170 Waitlists there this year. As for Vandy, I have withdrawn because I don't think I'd go anymore. I have kind of narrowed it down to the schools we discussed but I'm really hoping for USC. I'm going to go to a couple of ASWs to get a feel for them and hopefully that will help me make a decision. Even if I get into USC money will still play a part in my final decision. We will see, the deadline is coming quick!
