Additional info & updates

SENT: Date transmitted
RECIEVED: Day LSDAS report was sent

1/11 - Accepted at Hastings via online status check
1/29 - Heard the good news about BU from my dad in California. (The letter was sent to my permanent address.)
Included a very nice hand-written note. :)
1/30-Got a call from BU congratulating me. How nice. :)
Also my status checker changed for Georgetown today.
2/7 - E-mail from Dean Meeker offering me a place on the waitlist. Obviously, I'd love to have been admitted straight up, but considering my LSAT, I am honored that they waitlisted me.
2/8 - Tiny, impersonal rejection letter from NYU. Boo hoo. Ok, I'm over it.
2/10 - Finally got my rejection letter from Georgetown. It was sent to my permanent address. Color me unsurprised.
2/14 - Got an e-mail from home saying they got my rejection letter from Michigan. Un-happy valentine's day. We love you not. :( This one really makes me sad.
3/10 - After a long silence, I got my little white envelope from Boalt. Very unfortunate.
3/27 - Reserved at Cornell! Yay! I was expecting another rejection. The status checker went to decision on 3/24 and I got the letter on 3/27. I know lots of people are calling this a waitlist, but I just called Cornell to find out that it is not really. (Not yet.) You get to submit extra materials if you wish, and then in mid to late May they will either send out a decision or put you on the waitlist. I am taking this as a really late deferral, even though I'm listing it as a waitlist.
4/20 - It took Duke 5 months to put a little impersonal piece of paper in a lazily taped envelope. At this point, I couldn't care less.
Btw, for those of you who really want to go to Duke, I don't recommend calling. I called on friday and they sent my rejection letter out Monday. Coincidence?

Boston here I come!!! :)

Thanks for your comments jill...We're about as close as you can get.. Any thoughts about adding GW, Emory, or Temple to the list? Those are pretty good targets for us.

If I had gotten anything less than a 163 I would have retaken the test....anything higher I would have been satisfied. It's a jerky score. Hoping to catch a break somewhere. Good luck to you- We will end up at good schools no matter what.

thanks

i wish you luck with your apps too. with your gpa and background i'm sure you'll make out ok.

Good Luck

Wow, both a photographer and a clerk for a judge. We are very similiar indeed, minus the GPA difference and the fact you go to an ivy. I scored 163 in October and added an addendum with the apps. The June test was crazy... the stuff that went wrong only happens in movies. However, it will all work out.

good luck!

We really are numbers twins .. best of luck to you, I'll be watching throughout the cycle. :)

odds?

what are the Chiashu odds you're talking about? I've never heard of this... If you'd be so kind, could you email me about it? I'm very curious. Thanks. And congrats on Hastings -- a good school -- and good luck on the others...

Congrats on Hastings!

Go to San Francisco! It's the best!

i totally agree
Tuesday, May 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

i would go to boalt in a heartbeat....although the nightlife is better in San Fran than Berkeley...oh wait, we won't have a night life!

Michigan

yes, painfully thin, impersonal letter. at least i won't have to bundle up as much for law school regardless of where i go.

scary thought
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

I've heard that law school adcoms can sometimes match up applicants with their info on here. This can work to you disadvantage, especially if you rank your preferences on your page. If a place knows that they are your safety, they may be more likely to not admit you to yield protect. Neurotic, I know. haha

Good Luck!

Good luck with GULC and the rest! Don't fret over the admitted students' site- I couldn't log on before Friday (decision made on a Monday), but I know it has been spotty for other people even beyond the 4-days after decision point.

Thanks

Thanks for the support. My Georgetown denial was depressing, but rather expected. Congrats on getting into Boston U. They are a great school. I too was scoring in the 170s with practice tests and everytime... reading killed me (don't ask). Best of luck!

Keep you spirits up

You're in at good schools and i'm sure you're going to do quite well in law school! Just look at that undergrad GPA!

yes
Thursday, October 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

I got two emails from boalt. The first email said that I was into the school and the second told me to disregard the first message. how unprofessional!

boalt
Wednesday, December 07 2005 at 07:00 PM

I got it too. But I didn't get the second email... Very annoying

GULC
Thursday, October 27 2005 at 08:00 PM

Sorry about GULC- that stinks. I hope Berkeley, Cornell or Duke works out for you. Your GPA is higher than mine from a better school (mine is 3.78), and I am a multiple LSATer. When I first took it, I got a 163 too. Instead of settling, I waited a couple of years, studied even harder, and re-applied. Good luck the rest of your cycle!

Hi, no, I did not get the false email from Boalt a few weeks ago although I did get the two subsequent apologies. Good luck~

I did get the Boalt email
