I kept bothering a prof who had connections with many political officials. Eventually he gave me a position with Judge William Leo Cahalan of the 3rd Circuit Court in Detroit. It is mostly an educational position. Secondly, 90% of the reason I do BJJ and not any other martial art is because of my leg. As you probably know, BJJ is mostly fought on the ground. While I limp and am not very fast standing, I can take the fight to the ground fast where I have little problem.
i wonder if tulane law school still exists
I hope you do well this cycle!!
I'm hoping for the best... that LSAT killed me, but hopefully I can rebound.
good luck, christopher... although you are crazy applying to 30 schools... most people go into debt going to law school--not applying to law school... but still, best of luck, sir
you say you have "30 Games to Play"... i didn't actually bother counting, i just assumed you could ;-)
Ha... well... Cardozo was about as expected as Van Halen's love child... 31 games it is! I've got bad vibes about this cycle... Why can't somebody high up just accept me quickly and put my mind at ease for the next few months...
I am totally rooting for you this cycle. I have really similar numbers and you are applying to all of the same schools as I am. SOMEBODY has to look beyond that stupid freaking test. I clerked for a Judge, too. Maybe that counts for something. It shows we are dedicated. Best of luck!
Sometimes you just have to pull law schools into your guard and triangle-choke them. Good luck, man.
I'm not international, but the admission officer who called me was from my area. He also had a relative that worked at my summer job. I'm sure you'll hear from them soon. Best of luck!!! By the way, your soft factors are awesome. I also do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Added another, good luck in your quest man. I hate the lsat too, my last practice test I got a 170, then I somehow bombed the reading comp on the real thing, which I normally missed 1-2 on, woulda been a totally different situation had I not choked....
Hey Kaz, yeah California definitely sounds nice right about now. "Woday" got a 161 as well. Best of luck- Jones
your dad left a very nice note on my page! tell him i said thanks, and have a happy holiday/new years! i hope you hear some good news soon enough...
The interviewer was very friendly. She asked me a lot of questions. Some of them were very typical interview questions - why law school, what can i add to a school, etc. - 2 of them really caught me by surprise - what is my leadship style and what is a common misconception that people who know me have of me. I hope that helps
congrats on loyola--with money, no less!! 1 for 1..
Good luck from a fellow Deke
The loyola bit is a grant based on academic standing and is auto renewable as long as I stay above a 3.0 in law school. I'm not worried about that. Hopefully this is all moot and my Yale phone call will come in tomorrow ;^)
This whole deferred/waitlist deal is driving me insane. I know people with great scores, bad GPAs, and no soft factors getting into awesome schools. Hopefully we both get some unexpected good news.
Stupid georgetown. They can't see a good thing coming if it's obscurred by a so-so LSAT score. (My rejection letter is probably in the mail. I'm doing a little pre-rejection commiseration.) I'm sure you'll get into more great schools.
what do you think about the hold?
on american!
1) I don't know how I got on the GW waitlist... good fortune maybe... I was told by some people that my personal statement was compelling or maybe they took my addendum explaining my LSAT difference and are only considering the 163. God only knows if I'll get accepted off the list. I plan on visiting DC for American and GW over Spring Break. 2) To the positive asshole who last posted. Thanks for the support. Your comment about Prof. K may be true, but is there anyway I can change this now? No. I am confident my other 3 recommendations, most of which went to the schools, are very good. Also, I have done a lot in my fraternities and have learned more then most pseudo-leaders in student government. If law school feels my efforts are a waste of their time... that is too bad. I'm done worrying about this stuff. It's too late to change anything in the applications (obviously). I'm either going to be lucky or have to work hard (something I am used to doing anyways). Good day sir! Love Kaz
I was just wondering how you came up with your class rank. Thanks and good luck!
top 17%, I'd have a much higher GPA if it wasn't for my semester of pledging...
you have a real shot at umich... if you have anything substantive to send them to show your interest, do it!... you're gonna get into at least a couple of these waitlist/deferral schools... i just know it!
Joining a frat is the best thing to happen to me in a long time... besides being born.... which is pretty important.... but wouldn't be as important as a Harvard acceptance should galaxies collide and that occur.
Congrats from a fellow sigma kappa deke.
Holy shit. This is the first positive comment I've heard you say about law school! Maybe Harvard will come through after all (don't quote me). Thanks for checking this site so often.
Loyola is a great school. I think I'll probably be at your archrival OSU next fall. ITB -Big10jd
Out of all the places you've been accepted so far I would definately attend Loyola. They have new "dorms" going up in the water tower district for law students next year that should be awesome.
Out of all the places at this point it is looking like Brooklyn.
You know... based on all your involvements and work experience... I would have expected at least one or two acceptances from your 1/2 group. Good luck. I hope you get some good news from Illinois or Fordham.
Nice job on making the U Mich waitlist! We're all in for a couple of nailbiting months, I think...
I think they are very close to each other in admissions requirements. Brooklyn is less of a commuter school and has good prospects on the east coast. It will come down to location and scholarship... my mind is not yet made up.
I visited both school and was more impressed by Brooklyn. Additionally, I have received the Prince Scholarship from Brooklyn which would total $52k if I keep in the upper 33% (which I'm not worried about).
I have been very conflicted on all of these schools. However, I know I like NYC and Brooklyn was very impressive when I visited. Also, their numbers are just as high as American, but below hastings. So with that said... Brooklyn is leading the pack. Hopefully, a waitlist school comes through and makes this all moot.
Congrats on Chicago-Kent. I am very excited about attending and I hope to see you there in the fall.
This whole selection thing is driving me insane. I'm thinking of going to the admitted students day April 8th at Kent. I've already sent a seat deposit to Brooklyn, but I have two weeks to change my mind and switch to Kent.... Choices Choices Choices. I'm sure Harvard will accept me this week and solve my quandrum ;^)
quandrum is def not a word... i think you're merging quandary and conondrum
You won the contest... the contest of words... congrats
I got a notification in a small white envelope. Ha! I thought I was rejected when I heard what it came in...
congrats!!!
I'm still debating this... I probably will drop both, but I might keep William & Mary...
I just found out today. The dean called and said there was a spot for me in the class if I was still interested.
Thanks for the comment! I'm still waiting on the other schools before I start doing research, etc. But I'll definitely take you up on the offer!
I was wondering how you like the campus and what are the good places to live.
Brooklyn, Chicago, and Tulane are my safeties... I am going with a buckshot approach of applying to many schools and hoping one or two could hit pay dirt...
