Fee waiver from Michigan included a lovely HAND-WRITTEN note from Dean of Admission, Sarah Zearfoss, complimenting my academic history. Michigan has an amazing PR "campaign". Very nice personal touch!

A few "completes" are approximate as didn't keep close tabs on it.

Two pages from UT in business envelope with acceptance letter and some other details arrived via USPS on November 13, ten days after completion notification.

Large envelope with nice Michigan blue folder, acceptance letter, specifics of acceptance, and a DVD arrived via USPS on November 11, four days after the status checker changed from "complete" to "decision". Another personal, handwritten note from Sarah Zearfoss was included. Michigan really takes extra pains to make one feel welcomed. Thanks, Michigan, Sarah Z., and your excellent staff! Great news to get early in the cycle.

12/08/06 Received a letter by snail mail with a scholarship in the amount of $15,000 ($5,000 a year) from the University of Texas. They need to be notified by April 1, 2007 if the scholarship is going to be accepted.

12/13/06 Got a call from the dean of Vanderbilt Law School telling of acceptance. NICE!

12/22 Called Cornell and learned I am deferred

12/22 Thin white envelope, dated 12/15, received today from Penn with deferral notice and opportunity to send more info

01/03/07 - Just got a call from George Mason congratulating me on my acceptance. It was a friendly, personal phone call. Left me with a favorable impression.

01/07/07 - Received large white envelope from Illinois congratulating me on my acceptance and offering me $25,000 a year. Also received a small envelope from ND placing me on their "provisional list". I'm kind of disappointed about that, but maybe it won't make that much of a difference in the long run.
01/09/07 Rejected by letter: Harvard

01/15/07 Rejected by letter: Chicago. I LOVED Chicago!!

01/28/07 Large portfolio from Notre Dame with acceptance and a $36,000 scholarship. Very exciting!!!!!

01/29/07 Vanilla-colored business size envelope with nice acceptance letter from Virginia: WOW!!!

In mid Feb. got an email congratulating me on acceptance to Penn and giving a deadline for app for public service scholly.

03/01/07- Had nice phone interview with an admissions director from Cornell...about 20 minutes long.

03/07/07 got an acceptance email from Cornell today.

About a week later, got a phone call of acceptance from a lovely British lady at Penn....she was quite complimentary of the file. Nice.

Also got a mid Feb letter of deferral from Wash. U.

Seriously question the notion that most schools read/decide on apps in the order they are received. Mine were all, except for a few, sent the first 2 or 3 days they could be sent, and I'm in the LAST group to hear, Early Action, from both Penn and Cornell. So much for "going to the mat" to get the apps in the door first!!!!

3/28 UT sent a letter awarding the Townes-Rice scholarship which increases the UT scholarship by $6,000. Very generous when considering the very low instate tuition.

Admissions offer
Sunday, October 29 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hi, Lin; Yes, the status checker gave my complete message on 11-03. The offer of admission came in a business sized cream-colored envelope in today's mail. Any merit money offers are to be mailed two weeks after the admissions letter was mailed. HOpe this helps, Joflo2005

is this joseph florence?

decision...
Sunday, October 29 2006 at 07:00 PM

I'm really struggling with the decision: Penn, UMich, and UVA (and Cornell, for that matter) are all enticing, each in its own way. And, no, I'm not Joseph Florence...

Cornell

Cornell indicated that they would like to talk with me, but I had to initiate the phone call. Apparently, they have two days a week on which they do phone interviews, so I called in response to their indication of continued interest and set up a phone interview with them.
