University of Cincinnati- Masters of Social Work 09'
(3.85 GPA)

Additonal info on law school:
Thomas Cooley Law: I was accepted into the conditional program which is scheduled for 01/05/09-01/11/09.

Michigan State University: I was given the privilege to apply to the conditional program (Legal Education Opportunity Program) which is scheduled for 05/17/09-06/26/09. * This is a top choice law school for me with regards to my career aspirations.

1/5-1/11 : I drove 5 hours to Lansing, MI and completed the Thomas Cooley Conditional Law Program.

2/6/2009: I recieved an email from Thomas Cooley letting me know that I was accepted into their law program!

2/13/2009: My official admittance was mailed to me in a larger than life envelope.

2/17/2009: After four months of waiting, I had to call U of Dayton only to find out that I was denied admissions. Talk about ghetto! The fact that it took them so long to make that decision was really upsetting. The last time I applied I was waitlisted, I just don't understand!! But hey, that was the divine intervention of GOD himself. It just was not meant to be. I'm cool with it.

2/17/2009: I decided to send my application for the Michigan State Summer Program. I don't know how I am going to do this since I don't finish school until June and the program begins in May. I am putting my faith in God here. I mean, I don't even know yet if I will be admitted into the conditional program, but God willing, I will make a way to go. MSU is my 1st choice law school.

2/17/2009: I contacted UDC and was told that it will be two more weeks. I couldn't believe that someone actually returned my phone call.

2/17/2009: I decided to apply to a few more schools and see what happens. I really liked Capital and Valparaiso who waitlisted me last time I applied so we will have to see what happenes this go round. The fact that they have an ICLEO Prg. was very appealing to me also so I applied to that too.

2/18/2009
I spoke to the dean at my school and professors about my desire to do the MSU summer program (pending admission). I will have soooo much work to do to get through with my last quarters work early but for the most part everyone at school is willing to work with me. This is definitly a positive sign:) The worse thing though is that I could end up missing graduation. But if it means a chance at going to the school of my choice for law which is what I really want to do...well, it will all be worth it!!

3/12/2009
It's official! I have been accepted into the LEO Program at Michigan State!! No need to ask, I will be completing this program and hopefully starting off my first year at MSU in the Fall of 2009!!

3/17/2009
I checked my status online and it stated that they have rendered a decision at University of the District of Columbia. Now, I am headed home from work and perhaps there may be something in my mailbox. if not today, sometime this week. Pray for me!!

3/21/2009
Ok, so I applied to the University of the District of Columbia back in November. They not only took 4ever to respond but denied me, which quite frankly I am a bit shocked about! But the Lord always prevaileth and I am going to MSU so who cares right! I mean, there is some disapointment about their shared ghetto-ness (as that of U of Dayton) but I still came out on top so who cares!! Thank you LORD!!!

3/26/2009
I was rejected from both Capitol and Valpraiso, but you know what...its all good!! I paid for my enrollment into the Michigan State LEO Program today and so for those of you who will be attending this program as well, hit me up!! I am well on my way, THANK YOU JESUS!!!

4/14/2009
I spoke to Mary Ferguson who heads the Diversity Dept. at MSU- For those folks who have paid and been accepted into the LEO Program, she reported that they would not be mailing the materials to people unti the first week of May. There will be an assignment that must be completed prior to showing up on May 17th. We will be living in one bedroom suites in the dormitories and she also stated that for people who are flying in, you can arrive as early as Saturday versus Sunday. Hope this information helps those people who have had questions. I cannot wait!! :)

8/13/2009
I am officially a 1L at Michigan State University!!! School begins on 8/21, and orientation starts 8/17. I am soooo excited!! God is sooooo good to me . I AM HIGHLY FAVORED AND HIGHLY BLESSED!!

Wish me lots and lots of prayers! And prayers to you all as well!!

Good luck this cycle. I would talk you out of conditional programs Justice. How many people do Michigan State generally accept? My advice would be to avoid conditional programs like the plague. Send me a message. Let's talk.

Justice, great soft factors! 2 Master degrees!!!! I'm really pulling for you in this cycle. Have you considered applying to Southern, Texas Southern, and UDC?

I really appreciate your kind words as they were very much needed at this time. I was at the point of saying forget it all together and trying something different. The more I tried to picture my life in another career the more depressed I became. I know that GOD wants this for me I just don't know WHEN he wants this for me. Please continue to pray for me as I will do the same for you.

Thanks! They sent me the form to apply to LEO but I'm actually not going to apply, MSU was a top choice for me but I'm not really interested in doing summer programs (since I have the option to go somewhere full time & not pay extra!), let alone having to do a part time program (I only applied to full time programs!). I wish you the best of luck with MSU since I see it is a top choice for you!!!

Good Luck on your cycle. I think my only problem with cooley is that i don't know if i can really commit to spending that much on tuition on a school that i may or may not like.

Congrats.

yes, i'm applying but have ben speaking with someone there so feel good about getting in and excited for the program. I'm trying to gather the money. That would be money towards housing and geting a car to live there, but it will give give us a head start. do they tell us there if we get in to the parttime program or do we have to wait?

Thanks!

Thanks Soror! I am appreciative of your kind words! Congrats to you also! I was reading your profile and I am glad you were able to work out a deal with your school to attend MSU during the summer and still graduate! My top schools are W&M and UTK, either one of those two and I would be very pleased! However, I do like the three I've been accepted to already!

Congrats

Congrats on Mich St. I really want to go to Capital but my LSAT is only a few points higher than yours so I guess I may be out as well. Good luck in your summer program.

Congrats!!

Hey... can you explain a little more about the LEO program? I am graduating law school this year, but have an interest in helping other law school applicants.. I am always looking for conditional and non-conditional summer programs like my school INDYLAW has... Is the program you are attending conditional or non-conditional... If you NEED a specific grade in the summer class to get admitted in the fall, then it is conditional.. if you only need to DO it and pass.. then it is non-conditional... Thank you.

Congrats!

With your great GPAs at Xavier and Cincinnati I have no doubt that you will be successful in the LEO program! Congrats!
