Additional info & updates

Old guy - 40 - 41 this fall

Submitting two LORs to all schools. One of them is the best LOR I have ever read, about anyone, let alone myself.

Pepperdine MBA GPA 3.83 - First in class

Undergraduate degre in computer science received in 1993

150 total semester hours included in GPA. 5 undergraduate colleges.

Have run a management and IT consultancy for the past 15 years

Got my first acceptance - UoP McGeorge - Big white packet. Scholarship in a small envelope the next day. They were definetely my safety school. Good IP program.

03/02/06 - Hastings online status gives me the news. No warm fuzzy feeling. Sinking feeling in my gut. I built myself up too high for Hastings, They were (in my head) my 'borderline reach'. At least I KNOW my other reaches are 'snowballs in Hell'

03/08/06 - Georgetown online status check goes to 'Decision'. I'll most likely be receiving my 'No, but thanks anyway' letter soon. Wish that their status check would show what the decision was.

03/09/06 - Berkeley gave me the news today. Regular size white envelope. Had no illusions about that one, but it would have been nice if they had gotten the YEAR right on the reject letter.

- U of San Fran called. No room in the day division, but they wanted me in their evening program. I think I'll stick with Santa Clara.

06-03-06-Weird - Waitlisted by Loyola. Had already decied that I'm staying in the bay area. Had actually forgotten about them. Getting happier and happier that I got into Santa Clara.

Thanks for the comment. I think with your MBA GPA and background that you'll have a very strong chance at many of these schools. Good luck, and maybe I'll see you on campus.

Honestly, I don't feel like I'm done. When I got into the MBA program I really hit my 'stride'. I love to study and research. As a management consultant I am coming to realize the limits of the business side of my education. Also - the advantages of an MBA are quite dilute. There are so many MBAs coming out and the programs are of widely varying quality. An MBA is only as good as the individual earning it. There are too many MBAs toddling around that don't stay active or got through the program 'phoning it in'. Hope that answers your question.

slow & tiresome

thanks for your note! i think you're right - the longer we wait the better. unfortunately, this does little for the nerves. how...annoying. good luck - especially with the snowballs in hell. you've got some great things going for you!

Thanks

for the condolences. I got it on the online status check also. I'm not too broken up about Hastings, nor should you be. I only applied there because I live in the area. Its in an ugly area of the city and everyone I've talked to who went there absolutely hated it. Good luck with the others.

Thank you. BTW, I've heard really good things from CA attorneys about Santa Clara.

I will be attending Pepp for law school and I was wondering what you thought about the school/area. Any insider tips?

No I haven't ever been on active duty. I've just been a cadet. Actually, I am not looking to get released from my obligation. I think I'm going to like the JAG Corps (at least for the 4 years). If nothing else, I owe it to my country. Anyway, thanks for the good info on Pepp. I'm glad it is an enjoyable place to be. Do you think you know where you'll be for law school yet?
