Very nice. Any ideas on where you are heading? Why not apply to UVA?
I know Peperdine, while incredibly beautiful, is also fairly conservative. But that may be your thing. Malibu is, as the kisd say, hella expensive. Pacific is a very nice campus with proximity to the wine country and to San Francisco... Im hoping for Lewis and Clark or San Diego. Very frustrating this wait, as well as my numbers... Good luck!

please go to pepperdine and live out my dream for me.
I went there to visit and loved the campus and the people. Seemed so laid back (probably because all their parents are paying for school) but i really loved the non-threatening atmosphere. I have visited a lot of law schools so i could compare. I think you should get your money. It's been a slower year and i dont' think schools were anticipating it. You may see a lot of demands met and admitted students that could be considered surprises. Jefferson will give you money. UNLV accept. Berkley doesn't look good. Surprise pick: waitlist at USC
hey, we have kinda similar numbers (i had to take the lsat twice so my avg is way down there). what doe sht epepperdine envelope look like? do they give you a scholarship offer in the admit letter? congrats!
for me pepperdine is 4th on my list, which i have whittled down to 4. ucd, loyola, usd and then pepperdine. so obviously, ucd is a wetdream and loyola is a maybe... i figure i got into usd, so who knows. as for uop vs. pepp, i think it boils down to where you want to practice. pepp rank wont go up anytime soon. its in la so it has to compete with ucla, usc and loyola. uop seems to be in an upswing in ranking, and it will probably travel far in sacramento whereas a pepp degree would be thrown into the mix with all the other socal schools.
U of P offered $14 and books. I have never been to Sacramento or to the campus none the less. Any general info you have would be great, ex. What is student body like, living cost of the area (off campus b/c I have dogs) and anything else you can think of. Appreciate your time- Katie
I did apply to UoP. Im not that interested in the school because they do not specialize in most of the areas that I am interested in. I have also heard that the students get so competitive that they start to sabotage each other. So, I will only consider them if they offer me a schoalrship that is similar to what you received. Email me if you have any other questions.
Boalt sent me a letter telling me I was on their waitlist and then a couple additional papers explaining I could see what quadrant I was in after mid-May. Good luck!
Seriously, go to McGeorge. I would if I wanted anything to do with California. Pepperdine is way too expensive, and your numbers are too good for TJSL and Chapman. With all the cons you hear about Pepperdine, I haven't heard anything bad about McGeorge. In fact, I hear its very close to the wine country. :) good luck deciding!
IS your scholarship renewable and if so, whats the gpa you need to maintain.. Thanks... P.S. have you decided where you are going?
Hey thanks for the info... You know I feel the same way you do about staying in CA.. I've narrowed my list down to Pepperdine, USD, Loyola (if I get into their part-time), and Chapman (if I get their scholarship).... But so far, Pepperdine is #1 for me. Its just sooo expensive
From Michigan I have heard good things about it, but from the students who are very into the Cali legal market I have heard otherwise. Not that I think lawschooldiscussion.org is God or anything, it seems that overwhelmingly the opinion of Pepperdine is a negative one. I have heard GREAT things about the school experience itself, but its the afterwards that seems complicated. Just having so many law schools in one area to compete with in the SoCal market make graduating with 140,000 in debt a scary thing.
Wow! Thanks for the info. I didn't know it was soo competitive to keep a scholarship.....
Hi there. We got similar numbers and both goth into Pepperdine with the same grant offer. Have you tried calling pepperdine fin. aid office and bargaining for more money?
I decided on Pepperdine too.. I'll probably see you there...
Pepperdine is an awesome school with alot of very chill, yet driven kids. Everyone there seems really happy to be there, but not in the "we all just drank from the same punch bowl" creepy-kinda way. I probably will stay in SF but if I hadn't, I would have gone to Pepperdine hands down. Congrats on ur admits!
Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that I also decided to attend Pepperdine this fall. I went to the Open House last Friday and got a great feeling about the school and the student body. I am looking forward to meeting you next fall!
Pretty cool place. Beautiful people, male and female. I had a great conversation with Ken Starr at an alumni event recently. The campus is gorgeous. Malibu is a farking dump. they have a good alumni network and seem to have a good reputation as a law school. I didn't apply - couldn't bring myself to write the second 'mission statement' essay. Out of the rest of your acceptances they are definetely the best. Don't worry too much about the active duty JAG service. There are lots of reasons that people end up released from their active duty commissions - besides, 4 years is nothing. Have you been active duty before?
yeah its nothing against Pepperdine at all... I just am really interested in IP law so I think Santa Clara is where I'll attend (pending a visit)... Plus I wouldnt mind getting away from la for awhile
Yeah, our numbers are kind of similar. I can't believe UOP waitlisted me, I have a 3.6 GPA now after another two quarters of straight "A"s, but whatever, I wouldn't go there even if they gave me cash. LOL. I am hoping for Davis (loooong shot), but if I get accepted to Pepperdine and USF, I may still end up at SCU because of their study abroad programs.
clean sweep! congrats.
