sorry to bother you, but how did you get accepted to McGeorge after the waitlist? Was it recent?
Hi there, you're acceptance at UoP caught my eye. I am perplexed. I hope you've visited UoP and USD. USD is not only ranked significalntly higher, but it's on one of the most desirable campuses in the conntry. So why UoP????? Seems you just got in there too. Living in San Diego would definitely be a plus over Sacramento, but hey who am I to tell you what to do? I know of one student who just finished his first year at UoP and enjoyed it. For me it looks like Pepperdine. I am surprised that I haven't been accepted at UoP also. Oh well. Good luch to you!!!
I'd contact the admissions office at UoP ASAP. They have a houring and roommate list.
Did houston ever send you anything about the waitlist? Or a letter to see if you were still interested? Good luck in sacramento!
Congrats
Honestly, I know the area very well...and you don't want to live close to campus. The surrounding area is a little dangerous. But then again, I'm a girl from the suburbs, so I don't like that kind of thing. If I were you I'd check out ForRent.com. That's what I'm doing. Here in Sac they have the actual magazine, but since you're out of state, the website should do just fine. The website has pictures, addresses, and layouts of apartments. It also has cost of rent and utilities. Your best bet is to live probably 10 mins from campus, (the neighborhood changes dramatically and it's an easy freeway ride to school) It's the best way to go at this point. Don't plan on getting set up with a place this early though because most apartment complexes won't sign leases until a month before the acutal lease date. Hope this helps.
Hey you got into a great number of schools with a 152. That's unheard of. Thanks for the congrats on Pepperdine. I didn't see it on your list. How could you get in if you didn't apply there?
Congrats anyways. UoP seems to be a great place to go. I got a phone call from them a few days ago. They offered me part time. I graciously declined. I don't get it, though. I was given a fee waiver, then a left handed invitation. I'm not complaining, just confused. Anyway the only schools that could make me change my mind are George Mason and Loyola. Good luck to you.
Easiest way would be to use the housing office . They have units available. I think for 1L it really helped me to focus, but the people I know who did better than I did lived off-campus, so who knows? Housing is cheaper than the Bay Area but significantly more expensive than anywhere in the Midwest (originally from MI, I moved for law school as well). If you have a car, you can basically live anywhere in Sac. Midtown is the "nice" option, but more expensive than other areas. If you live in Oak Park (the ghetto, where the school is situated) you can find significantly cheaper housing. I know a guy living in a four room apartment about two blocks from school, gated, paying around 600 a month (by contrast, I have a studio on campus, and my rent is 560 per month for next year). You do not want to live too far away, because your classes will start around 9 and traffic is, well, problematic in Sacramento. Good luck!
Congrats, I visited the campus and met the faculty/administration, they even offered me a lil scholly... but I am a L.A. girl, with L.A-ties, and therefore I am staying here at Southwestern... Have fun at UoP! :)
It was a couple of reasons. The largest was that since my parents live in San Diego, I can live there rent and food free. That is a huge savings. The second was I plan on transfering to USD or Davis or Hastings... if the grades permit anyway. I also just love San Diego; it's where I want to spend my life. The last factor was that i was admitted to Pacific as a PT student. I want to go full time and do the traditional 3 years. Pacific was more of a "back-up" if CW didn't accept me. TJSL was the same. Take care and maybe I'll see ya!
