Santa Clara: 12/30 "We'll get back to ya!"

Cal Western: 1/7- Acceptance came in 2 (?) letter sized envelopes. 1/20- I got a call from the Dean of Admissions congratualating me.

2/7- I am so sick of waiting for these damn decisions! Hell, I think I may just go to Cal Western because they had the decency of letting me know at least a month before anywhere else. Though, barring the miniscule chance of a full ride somewhere else, I have pretty much made up my mind to go there regardless. I need 300+ days of sun for my Midwest hangover

2/25- Going to Cal Western. There is no excuse to have not received back decisions from law schools. You pay $50 for the app and ask for the opportunity to spend $30,000+ a year and they blow you off. I am choosing Cal Western not only because I like the school, but because I appreciate the respect and professionalism they have shown.

3/2- I was tired of waitng, so I decided to just call TJ. She told me without problem and said scholorshop info would be sent out as well. Still going to CWSL!

3/17- I received my Financial Aid Packet and noticed the PLUS loan instead of the expected private loan. Doing some research I found it came with a REQUIRED 3% fee and a fixed 8.5% rate. Anyone else think this isn't that great of a deal? If you factor in the 3% fee, it's like 9%/year and that, at this point in time, isn't great. If the fed is only suppose to raise irates another couple times, I don't see this as worth it. Anyone else have any perspective?

3/30- Oh look... an acceptance from Pacific... Too bad I didn't get your answer a month and a half ago!

5/1- So, funny thing: I got my Santa Clara decision today. At least, I think it was the decision. I don't actually know because I tossed it into the garbage, unopened, the moment I saw it. It was rather gratifying to be so bold as to symbolically say, "Fuck off." That is effectively what SC has communicated by taking 7 8 months to get back to me. Is this really how any responsible school would deal with a potential student? So in the end, I say back: screw you too! :-P

As for the decision... I hope to never know!

You're going to do fine this application season. I think you'll get in everywhere you applied. Good luck!

How?
Wednesday, October 12 2005 at 08:00 PM

I received letters from TJSL and Cal Western last week. I agree that Cal Western has a better reputation in the area. They have also been more professional in their correspondence. However, TJSL has a lot of pros too.

go pacific

good luck with pacific - maybe we'll both be there. (although your gpa definitely kicks mine!) the waiting just sucks huh?

Hey, I saw that you posted on my account. I think you're thinking of someone else, I don't know what GBL 295 is (although I'm assuming it's a class). Good luck with your apps though.

TJSL

If you get TJSL or Cal Western you will like either. I checked them both out and was accepted to both before I decided to go to TJSL. It just felt more like a fit for me personally than Cal Western did but I knew a lot of people there too who did well and liked it a lot. my 152 with my first LSAT got me a (small) scholarship at TJSL though so that helped with the decision too.

Thanks!

Hey! I hear great things about Pacific. I have never been to CA. Do you like it? I'm sure it's different according to where you are in Cali!

Did you hear anything yet?

There was a posting on another board that someone got into McGeorge. Did you hear anything yet?

thanks and good luck

Wednesday, August 24 2005 at 08:00 PM

Im from E.L. went to MSU for a few years. It must be cold as shit right now... Go to the Riv and have a 25 Oz "Big Ass Mug" for me. Second, what the hell is wrong with Maurice Ager and Paul Davis. if you see those two around campus, tell them to get their shit together and win some games. Next. COngrats on Cal Western. Needless to say, San Diego is no Ehell. Maybe Ill see you down there.

was so very nice to hear, thanks. I think I'll see how this cycle pans out and then apply again next year if it goes not so hot. Thanks thanks thanks for the advice. Yay for you on Cal Western. A girl I know really enjoyed her time there. She was in public interest law--She had a job lined up when she graduated. That's always dandy. Horray for CA, good luck on the rest of your applications!

TJSL
Saturday, December 03 2005 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your acceptance to Cal Western. As to TJSL, they sent the letter to my permanent address, so I have not seen it yet. My parents said that it had a handwritten note on the bottom saying that a scholarship was on the way, so I will let you know when I find out. Good luck and if you have any other questions, let me know.

Yessss

Thanks for your congrats on UND. I check your page regularly, hoping to see some news. What's your top choice?

CWSL
Wednesday, August 24 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the pick-me-up. I am thinking that Cal Western will be where its at. I have a friend down there and I visited, surfed in Mexico for ad ay, and thought, well hell this aint bad. I wanted a place that was attached to a university or a college, so maybe Chapman, but, who knows. MSU bball is rebounding and so will my spirits with a few nods. Ill buy you a beer at orientation, and we can talk about how ridiculous Shanon Brown is.

totally agree...
Saturday, August 13 2005 at 08:00 PM

with your last post :) I guess I will see you at Cal Western...thats where I am heading too.

cal west
Saturday, August 13 2005 at 08:00 PM

nope...no family/friends Im gonna be all alone :( Im actually doing what I should have done for undergrad, moving away from my family and friends, I tend to do things in reverse I guess. Then again I dont think I will have much of a problem convincing my friends to come visit me in San Diego...I mean there are worse places I could end up! We should meet up when we start, you can show me around!!

Congrats!
Thursday, February 02 2006 at 07:00 PM

Are you planning to attend Cal Western? I guess that's where I'm going to end up, since I don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting in at USD! Maybe we'll cross paths at Cal Western. Do you have any idea what kind of law you'd like to eventually practice?

Financial Aid
Saturday, August 13 2005 at 08:00 PM

I got the same thing and was concerned about the fee...my question is do we pay that 3% upfront or do they tack it on when you repay the loan??? I hate this fin aid stuff...I am making my dad look at it all :) What company were you going to go with for your loan, I was going with the Law Access Group....but now I am confused with this whole PLUS stuff...anything you find out let me know!

I feel your pain on the UofP app. I'm still holding my breathe. Another week and deposits are due. I DID want to go theree, but now... Anyways, good luck with school!

Hey- I'm thinking of going to Cal Western, although I have never left my precious state of Illinois..I saw you left San Diego for Michigan(woohoo big ten!). Any advice about Cal Western and good areas to live?? I'm thinking that's where I'm gonna end up!

thanks
Monday, April 17 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the advice! I'm still trying to figure out exactly where to live. I think I'm gonna have to go visit! I might hit you up with more questions, especially since you are sooocal!

CWSL HERE WE COME!
Wednesday, February 22 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for welcoming me to the CWSL family. I think we all are going to have a great experience there. Are planning to do the summer enrichment thing? I think I'm going to do it. I'm just so damn eager to get this show on the road; I can't wait. Anyway, congratulations to you on your decision, and I'll see you at CWSL. Feel free to email me anytime.

Question
Wednesday, May 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

Question for ya man... We have similar stats, applied to some similar schools. I just visited Pacific and CWSL. San Diego was spectacular, but I was more impressed with Pacific's academics/curriculum, etc. What led you to choose CWSL over McGeorge?

I concur
Wednesday, November 02 2005 at 07:00 PM

SCU can definitely go fuck themselves. Imagine how sadly hegemenous ther student body will be this year. You wouldn't want to go there anyhow. USNWR whores. Sour grapes? Maybe ;)
