Additional info & updates

12/8 - Feels like the first time. In at DePaul via Status Checker!

12/11 - Sending updated transcripts. This semesters 4.0 will bring my LSDAS GPA from 3.57 to 3.62. Also working with a 3.95 since beginning of junior year. Lets hope I'm not too late!

12/14 - In at Hofstra via Status Checker! Not terribly interested, but a hefty scholarship would certainly sway me.

12/14 - In at Pitt via Status Checker!

12/16 - Out at GM via email. Expected. Stings a bit, but not terribly upset; no real desire to be the only liberal in that conservative breeding ground.

12/22 - In at Catholic with Faculty Merit Scholarship via email! First DC acceptance is a great Christmas present.
- In at Rutgers as well! Good day.

1/4 - Finally got my hands on mail that has been sitting at school. Annual scholarships of $25,000 at Hofstra and $20,000 at DePaul.

1/7 - In at Seton Hall via Status Checker. Hopefully the letter that is being mailed will include some serious $$$.

1/10 - Received acceptance package from UB with $5,000 annually! Wonderfully priced in lovely Western NY. Decision rendered via status checker on 1/5.

1/11 - In at Ohio State. Really shocked. REALLY shocked.

This Ohio State acceptance has put me in quite the precarious position. Honestly, I had no expectation of any T40 acceptances, and for the most part I had managed to come to terms with that. Location is not ideal as I really have no desire to be in the Midwest, but OSU has a strong reputation within my intended program. This will require some thought.

1/13 - In at Villanova and really excited about it! I love Philly, but
it would certainly be difficult to become a Wildcat after being a die hard Orangemen fan for so long. Took quite some time to be placed in review, but was notified within two days. 'Tis a good day.
- In at Albany as well! Scholarship letter is in the mail. Would take nothing short of 85% to keep it on my radar.

1/16 - Withdrew from Cuse and Suffolk. Would be apprehensive to attend either, even with a full ride. They were my last resort safeties.

1/24 - Waitlisted at WCL. Surprise! Honestly, I really wanted American when I first shipped out my applications, but the prospects of no scholarship coupled with an overly competitive market have diluted that initial desire. I'll sit it out on the waitlist; who knows?

1/27 - In at Northeastern via email and status checker dated 1/26. Nice to have a Boston option, but NU is sooo pricey. Will probably be withdrawing from several schools this week, and NU could certainly be one of them. If I'm shelling out that type of cash I'd rather be at Nova.

1/28 - Decision letter mailed from Maryland. Let's hope it arrives by Monday. Nervous is an understatement.

2/1 - "Preferred Waitlist" at Maryland. Could have been worse I would imagine. The letter claims that typically, all members of the PWL are admitted. Lets see if that holds up.

2/4 - "A decision has been made" via St. John's status checker. Hurry up, Mr. Postman.

2/9 - LOCI mailed to American and Maryland. Feeling confident at Maryland, not so much on American's 500 mile long waitlist. Still no package from St. John's. And Temple, WTF?! What's the hold up?

- This is what I get for complaining. Waitlisted at Temple. Really dissapointed and a little caught off guard. If I was a PA resident I think I would have been solid. Will send LOCI tomorrow; will indicate availability for part time study.

2/10 - Still no package from St. John's, but recived invite to admitted students reception.

2/11 - Rejected at GW via email. It was a hail mary.

2/15 - Finally received snail mail letter from St. John's. Included $20,000 per year with top 40% stipulation. Waitlist with an immediate withdrawal from Yeshiva. Fuck that place.

2/17 - Wailisted at Brooklyn via email. Going to sleep on it, but I'll probably withdraw.

3/14 - Only 4 months for W&M to drop a waitlist on me?? The efficiency in their admissions office is overwhelming.

3/28 - Negotiated $22,000 p/y with Villanova. I'll be sending a seat deposit soon!

4/20 - Off the American waitlist via phone call! Totally unexpected. Thankfully they give you lots of time to weigh your options. Not. Need to make a decision within 24 hours and ship them a $900 deposit. This will be interesting.

4?21 - Officially decided to attend American. The school was my top choice from the very begining, but after being waitlisted I gave myself little to no chance of hearing any good news. Their waitlist is notoriously lengthy, and I had all but given up. After giving it some thought, American seemed like the logical option because of their known emphasis on public interest, and their generous LRAP. If anyone is currently sitting it out on the AU waitlist and is interested in knowing how I managed to get off, shoot me a message. I would be happy to talk.

5/9 - In off of the Temple waitlist via email. Once upon a time this would have made me really excited.

7/17 - Off of the PWL of Maryland.

I think Wisconsin or Northeastern might be my top two... but I am trying hard not to get my heart set on any one school. All this waiting sucks! Seems like you want to be in the DC area...?

Good luck

I know it sucks doesnt it? I have this strange idea that they might be sending out more acceptanes on the 15th. since they accepted people on the 10th and 15th last month.... haha I know. crazy. Fingers crossed though. I guess my status checker still says complete but it also says it has been sent to review... so I guess I assumed that pretty much meant it was in review. who knows really. it went complete (for the second time, I sent it in early oct. and it also said complete then) on the November 10th. Maybe they will want us next week? lol.

Hey! Thanks for the message. Congrats on your acceptances so far. I wasn't really an avid checker of the website because I didn't expect to get a decision until January, but I did check it every 3-4 days. I don't remember my status ever going into UR or anything. It was just Complete 11/8 all the way until Sunday 12/19. Hope that helps, and good luck!

They didn't indicate anything. The scholarship offer came with the admission letter.

Are you still complete 12/27? Your GPA is not that much lower than mine (only .08). Don't lose hope yet!!

My initial complete date was 11/30, followed by a second complete at 12/27. Never went under review as per status checker, and no email was received upon waitlist placement. Status checker updated to 2/9 with decision listed below. Best of luck to you!

Congrats on American! What did you do to get off the wait list, any suggestions?

Tuesday, September 21 2010 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the info. I also see that you are on the preferred wait list at MD, which means you have a 99.9% chance of being accepted lol. Which would you prefer to attend American or UMD?

Good luck in the fall.
