Additional info & updates

I didn't take school too seriously until about 2.5 years ago, so my GPA is horrid. I have an upward grade trend after I transferred into a university, though. My overall GPA at my current school is a 3.2, so hopefully that'll help.

Sooo, I figure i'll end up being accepted/choosing between WSU, Cooley, and ONU. I kinda don't have a preference, but Hofstra has a family law program that's supposed to be very good, so they'd be my #1 if I got scholarship $. Also, they have a family law geared fellowship that is accompanied by a hefty scholarship and stipend.

11/24-Received an email from WSU, which assigns each applicant to an admission advisor. They've told me that it would be in my BEST INTEREST (they really highlighted those words) to have an interview by phone or in-person with my admission advisor. I plan on setting up a phone interview ASAP.

11/29-Checked my MSU status checker and was deferred until Feb., for further consideration. I've pretty much written MSU off. Unless I don't get accepted anywhere else (God forbid!), I won't be pursuing this school.

12/14- Got accepted into Hofstra via status checker. Still waiting for the letter in the mail, but I'm pretty positive there is no scholarship offer coming with it. So, that's probably a done deal.

12/16- Got an email rejection from Minnesota. I really appreciate them getting the decision out pretty quickly (compared to my other T1 applications).

12/20- Received a package and a letter from Cooley. Got in with a scholarship, but I need to call and find out what they mean, specifically by "good academic standing." It would suck to lose the scholly the second year, I'd basically be screwed. UPDATE: Called Cooley and was told that good academic standing is a 2.0. Huh? UPDATE: Found out that Cooley has a very harsh curve, and most of the students there end up in the 2.something range. I can't see a reason to complain, I can't imagine a school continuing a scholarship for someone who had a 1.anything.

1/6- Finally got my semester grades, and don't think I'll be sending them in to LSAC. My overall GPA would probably go up .10. And I'm under the impression that only any new schools I apply to would see it.

1/11- Email from Berkeley saying thanks but no thanks. Seriously, it was a pretty nice letter.

1/12- Decision Rendered from ONU status checker, tuition deposit amounts have updated.....sweeeet.

1/13- Decision Rendered on WSU status checker. The tuition deposit amounts didn't change....sucks.

1/14- Got an acceptance packet from ONU, which included a water bottle holder. Scholarships won't be announced until sometime next month. Great, more waiting!

1/14- Phone call from admissions advisor at WSU, just a quick congratulations and invitation to two events they are having soon. So, that whole tuition deposit thing isn't always a tell-all; good to know.

3/17- It's finally over! I am able to have a sigh of relief! Now, it's time to focus on graduating and a bunch of scholarship applications. I'll continue to answer questions and will update the extracurricular/scholarship offers eventually as well.

6/30/11-Will be attending USF in the Fall. I wasn't offered any money from Hofstra and the prospect of moving across country to live like a pauper on Long Island was nowhere near appealing. Especially since i plan to work in CA. One of my high priorities is to limit the amount of debt I graduate with. And, I think USF is a great fit for me. Thanks to all for the comments, and good luck and congrats as well.

We have a couple of schools in common on our list. Good luck! Do you want to stay in California?

I'm with you...

I would prefer to stay in California for sure, but if the money is undeniably enticing somewhere else then that's where i'll go. :)

I feel you on MSU! I was kind of shocked to be waitlisted because I (and you do too!) definitely have the numbers to get in! I don't get how they accept 150s and then waitlist us. I'm going to let them take their time reviewing and then slam them with a "No thanks. I'm actually going to a Tier 1 school" when they accept me. You should throw in some higher ranked schools! Dunno if you're interested in public interest stuff but Seattle U, Northeastern, and American would be good to apply to.

I haven't yet actually..but then again I haven't read my actual acceptance letter because I'm not home and my mom just said it came. I am mostly interested because American has a really good LRAP and I'm going into public interest. Also, they have a grant program so their need-based stuff isn't exclusively loan-based.

Hey congrats on WSU, I've been in review for a while now, how'd you find out? Congrats on your other acceptances too!

Congratulations on Hofstra! We have almost the exact same numbers, I'm always glad to see someone with similar numbers do well. Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

dam girl whats up?? why you withdraw from hofstra? That was the highest ranked school on your list. I mean you wanna get paid right? I live in Detroit. Please Please DO NOT GO TO COOLEY. They have no respect in michigan or nationally for that matter. They are at the statically at the bottom of every ranking. 6 month employment, compensation..everything. look it up yourself. Take your blessing and and go to new york.
