Additional info & updates

I only ranked the schools where I have a chance. HYS are just my contribution to charity.

Fee Waiver from Michigan, 9/01; IU-B 9/10; Vandy 10/11

Interviewed with Northwestern on 10/04. Went well!

Complete at Harvard on 12/16
-------------------------------------------------------------------------| ACCEPTANCES |
----------------------
Michigan 12/02--large packet of info by usps!!

Wm & Mary 12/10--large packet by usps priority post. I'm a huge TJ fan, so Wm & Mary is significant to me.
$14k merit scholarship.

UVA 12/13--Call from Jason Trujillo saying he sent the package yesterday. Also gave me the dates for the admitted students wknd. No mention of $$ (I feel grateful to be accepted. I was really expecting a deferral.) The other side of TJ's intellect--what an honor to be accepted at both of his schools.

CHICAGO!!! FREAKIN' CHICAGO!! 12/21/05 -- Ann Perry called me at work (thank you, Ann, thank you). I am shaking. I'm sooooo excited. I really can't even believe. I have wanted to go to U of C forever. Wow. Just wow.

ND 12/22 -- Received an email that my acceptance package will be in the mail. Obviously, haven't had time to withdraw yet. Too many libations!
--Got packet same day, with $15k per year offer.

IU 12/27 -- The must not have received/processed my withdrawal in time. Full scholarship offer with undisclosed stipend. Nice handwritten note, too. My parents' undergrad alma mater. They're proud.

Yeah, I decided to go ED. I'll be surprised if I get in at all, but I've got targeted LORs from two prominent alumni, so *maybe* that will help. GL to you on all your apps.

Congratulations

Congratulations on UMich. We applied to a lot of the same schools. I hope you get into U Chicago ED as well.

Hello Hello

Was browsing through LSD and saw your post on the UVA thread and noticed your U2 fandom. We're nearly numbers twins and U2 fans as well, that's getting towards uncanny. Anyway, hope you had fun dancing with Bono Vox of O'Connell St., , and good luck with the rest of your apps.

Thanks, Shellbell

Yes, shellbell, I am. Congrats to you, too! Even if I don\\\'t get into Chicago, I have three awesome back-ups. A year ago, I never would have dreamed UMich or UVA would accept me--let alone, this early. What fun!

Thanks and Congrats

Thank you for the congrats. Congrats to you on your impressive acceptances. You must be really excited about UVA, Mich, and W&M. About I.U., I heard through the regular mail. I'm sure your acceptance along with your scholarhip is in the mail too.

I love your reverence for and references to TJ. I feel the same way. Best wishes and congrats!!!

Arabic
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

Well, Arabic has been a pretty insane major for me. I'm not all that great at languages. I just really want to be able to understand things written in Arabic: Quran, Philosophy of Ibn Rushd, Theology of al-Ghazali, etc. That's still probably some years off. What kind of a linguistic background do you have?

Awesome news from UChicago! Hopefully I'll get to join you there, here's to wishful thinking and to our alma mater!

Thanks and congrats

For the note and on UChicago. I was hopeful, but realistic so I'm not too disappointed. I've got plenty of good ones left, and now I'm free of the pressure of early decision. Congrats again!

Thanks for the info from your conversation with Ann Perry. Amazing that they got that many ED apps and only accepted 36. Anyway, I'm sure we'll be in touch. Cheers!

? about Chicago numbers
Saturday, December 03 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hi! Congratulations to you! Back on the Chicago prospectives board people have been writing about applications in terms of #s. One person wrote that on an xoxo thread for the previous year, ED apps were at 800, they accepted 20, deferred 20, and denied the rest. Based on your conversation with the Dean, are those #s way off? We were just trying to figure out how many people got deferred vs. rejected. If you can log back into the prospectives board, it's under the topic "interviews." Thanks - I'm curious about this and again, big big congrats to you!

Congrats

On getting in to your first pick. You must be thrilled!!

Congratulations!
Sunday, November 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on getting your first choice, but I just wanted to say that you shouldn't rule out HYS yet. We have similar numbers and I got good news from Harvard and Stanford. Anyway, congratulations again on a successful application cycle!!
