Interested in Litigation, esp., Appellate Litigation. So, GULC's clinic in this area is really sounding nice. Also, possibility of obtaining a Judicial clerkship is of prime importance to me. Please leave me any advice on which schools would be best for these goals.

-As a random point, I just wanted to mention a problem I have with the USW&N Rankings: They indubitably influence the rankings just as much (if not more) than they "accurately" reflect the best national law schools. In other words, the same schools are ranked T14 years after year because they were ranked in that highly-coveted group in the previous years, and people take that into consideration when gauging a school's "prestige." That said, I admit that I do consider rankings as one of the factors I consider.

-Letter from Georgetown 11-23!!! I'm elated.
-Email from UVA informing me that my application status has been changed to "decision." Cross your fingers for me!!
-Recent Rejection from UVA has narrowed my options a bit. I am leaning towards GULC at this point, but a Duke acceptance and/or scholarship could make me rethink that. Let me know if you're GULC-BOUND! ( I am assuming, safely I am sure, that Harvard and Yale and Columbia, though waitlisted, are no-go's.)
2-17: Deferred at Harvard. . ..Guess they are just delaying the inevitable
4-2-06: It's getting close to decision-making time. Looks like I'll be heading to GULC this Fall. I still don't know what Duke is doing; they are taking way too damn long. Right now, I plan to send my deposit to GULC by 4-18-06. I plan on living on campus and enrolling in curriculum B, the philosophical study (if I can get in it). Finally, I excitedly anticipate meeting my fellow GULC 09'ers!
-It's finally over!! I sent in my deposit today (4-17) to GULC. See you there in the fall.

on the acceptances...and...for the encouragement

IU-B

Congrats on your spread! How'd you hear from IU-B?

I hear ya!

I'm tempted to, but I would just have a real hard time passing up on somewhere like G-town just because it's expensive.

Curriculum B
Thursday, September 22 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I know what you mean. Despite "more" reading, it might be "better" reading for types like us. I think it would be a great curriculum and a change from the standard (read: oft dreaded) first year courses. You are having a great season so far. Congrats and good luck - I'll be keeping an eye on your profile!

Thanks

Thanks for the congrats on Columbia! Congrats on your 8 acceptances, and good luck with your pending applications!!!

Tks!!

For your encouragement! Hey, we are both waitlisted at Columbia. Do you buy the "we will evaluate the application in June again" thing seriously? What are the odds?

Q re: UVA
Wednesday, February 08 2006 at 07:00 PM

May I ask when you went complete at UVA? Sorry to bring up a sore spot (so far your only one, though -- congrats!), but I have almost the same numbers and am waiting to hear from them. Thanks!

Withdrawls
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

I will withdraw from a school when I am 100% sure that I won't attend it. Right now, I am in the process of withdrawing from several. However, I am going to wait on W&M as I am not completely sure that I won't go there. That scholsrship is enticing. So, while I appreciate your admonition, I will continue going by the method that I have laid out. No hard feelings, and, like I said, once I am completely sure that I won't attend, I will promptly withdraw from W&M to free up space for other fellow '06 1L's.

Top Pick

My #1 is Michigan right now. I am still hoping for a Chicago or Penn acceptance. It would be a tough choice between those three. I have a good feeling that a H ding is on its way. What about you?

Congrats

Hey, its Chris, Andrew's buddy from Mercer. Congrats on your impressive acceptances especially to Georgetown. I guess Georgetown puts UGA out of the running, but it is still where I plan on ending up. Also I was wondering if you retook the LSAT? Good luck at G-Town if you end up there.

GULC vs Duke
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

First off, congrats on your acceptances so far. I'm sure you will have the "pleasure" of getting to choose between Duke and GULC as well. There are a couple of reasons why I am considering GULC over Duke right now. 1) financial aid.. I've been talking to GULC's office and it looks like I'm going to be getting a significant amount of need based grants. 2) Location, location, location.. I'm much more a DC boy than a rural NC guy. 3) Visit. When I visited GULC I fell in love with it and I'm not too sure I'll get the chance to visit Duke. That said, nothing is set in stone. The joint-degree program at Duke sounds incredible to me, and I do sort of like the small, intimate feel I think you'd find at Duke. But I'm rambling. Best of luck!

Emory Scholarship

The scholarship was included in the acceptance letter. Congrats on all of your acceptances!

thanks =)

Hey- Thanks for the congrats on GULC, same to you! Did you attend the admitted students weekend? I was there - fell in love with the school. I can't wait to be there in the fall... Anyways, you have my email address - feel free to email if youd like to talk more. I almost never check this site anymore since I'm decided, but it would be great to get in touch with some future classmates... Good luck with your decision!

Congrats.

Congrats on Georgetown. It's a great option. :)

Duke Waitlist
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

I already informed Duke that I shall not remain on the waitlist. Good luck with getting off of it yourself.

I suppose I could have . . .

remarked on the rankings more laconically, but I wouldn't be thinking like a lawyer if i did, now would I? Come one, it's never to early to start preparing for a career in pontificatory long-windedness.
