I applied FT to all of the schools. Thanks and good luck to you too.
oh hey...when did you hear from Marquette!? I should hear from them by Christmas. Oh and congrats on your rejection from Mizzou. I would rather grate my skin to the bone than be a Mizzou Tiger. haha. Can you tell I'm a die-hard Jayhawk fan!?!?
I heard from Marquette on Monday. I don't know if I'd go there cause it's so expensive. Kansas on the other hand would be great. I'm hoping to get in but I hate waiting until April... PS I am totally with you on that Arkansas thing, I called to complain about that stupid indexing admissions thing and the lady was way rude. I resent my apps to be considered as a non-index admissions candidate but have no desire to go there
Kansas sucks!
I was so mad about Arkansas....my uncle and aunt live in Little Rock so Arkansas has been like a second home. I was excited to apply but figured I would throw them out because of that crap. oh well. Yeah, KU has great tuition prices (esp. for in-state) and the sports programs are awesome! Games are so much fun. Plus I loved the law school visit. Felt like I would fit in great there. We'll see what happens. My girlfriend just got waitlisted at Georgetown which is CRAZY because she only has a 154 but she totally deserves it. I wish May would hurry up and get here so I can graduate and know where I'm going to be for THREE years! hahaha
How about SU? PT or FT? Good luck with the others!
I should learn to read...
I'm really confused at this point. I feel like I should just go to the best school I can get into but I obviously want to go somewhere I will be happy with for three years. That's why I don't want to go to Washburn. I hate Topeka so much. I have been really unhappy during my undergrad at Wichita State(where I was forced to go because of financial issues and family issues) so I told myself I would go somewhere I want to go and somewhere I'll be happy with for three years. I would not be happy with Washburn. Also, Washburn is a regional school (no matter what you hear). Your best chance at a job after Washburn is in KS and I don't know where I want to be after. I think the best thing to do is go to a school where I can take my degree anywhere in the US and have a good shot at a job. And also, of course, enjoy my time while in law school. Sorry if I rambled....
KU is my number one for sure. I mean, i'll consider others like Penn State IF I get in but KU is my number one. Lawrence is awesome. It's a complete college town so it isn't going to have things a big city can offer but the athletics are crazy! Football is gaining each year and Allen Fieldhouse is the best place to watch college basketball. There's always stuff going on in Lawrence. Kansas is a great state is you live in Wichita. Wichita is the biggest city and really the only city I would want to call home in KS. This is all personal opinion. I am just really sick of Wichita because I have lived here my entire life. It's a terrible place for an undergrad but I think after law school it would be a great place to live. But like I said, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in KS... ie. Hutchinson, Salina, El Dorado etc.
Well, I spent 4 years in Columbia for my undergrad. It was a great town to live in, but I'm from StL and would like to go to school closer to home. SLU's bar passage rate (93%) is 4 percentage points higher than Mizzou's, and their rate of placement is only 1% behind UMC's. Plus, SLU is located in downtown St. Louis, minutes away from the state's biggest law firms. I feel like the connections made at SLU would be more valuable than Mizzou's. I haven't heard back from SLU as of yet, but I will be seriously debating which school to go to if I get in both. I'm sort of hoping for a small scholarship from SLU- something to further break down that cost barrier between the two (15k vs. 32k), even though I'd be living at home if I chose school in St. Louis.
Sorry to say, but a 153 isn't going to get into any of the schools you're targeting. You have a great GPA, don't waste it. Sit out a year, get some more WE, put all your effort into a retake, and reapply next year, you will be much better off. With 6-7 points, you're in almost everywhere on your list and most places will give you $$. Good luck.
Any more news on Creighton?
I only applied for the full time program. I'm not sure if the accelerated program is different than just the normal part time. I would assume that they are different given that after the first year, they said I would enter into the full time program. And it's only the first semester that I would take 11 hours and make that class up in the summer. I think the part time program is an evening program. Let me know if you have any more questions. Steve
Congrats man! I've been following you on this site and knew something good would come through. High bar passage, and something in the range of 40%+ of practicing attorneys in StL are SLU alumns, can't really beat that for market placement!
I'm sorry it has taken me a while to write back to you...I haven't been on this site in a while. Congrats on your SLU acceptance! I'm very excited that school is just around the corner. Do you know what section you are in yet?...I'm in C, I think. Congrats again.
Just wondering, did you apply FT or PT? Best of luck with the rest of your cycle!
