Scholarship covering difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition plus 6k a year for Indiana. Only 7k tuition and living expenses left. But Michigan is still my number 1

Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

Still waiting to hear from michigan. Stupid post office doesn't want to send me my mail :(

regular sized envelope from Indiana. Was very worried when it came because if I didn't get into my safety schools then I was in deep trouble.

deferred from michigan, so sad. anyone know the chances of being deferred early decision and getting in afterwards?

question
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

yes i am. black/cuban

thanks

I tried replying on your account but for some reason it said logged user instead of my name, i guess it signed me off or something

first choice
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

Michigan is my first, as you saw above but and columbia a close second. If prestige was not a factor at all Indiana and BC would probably be my first choices with Michigan right behind them.

New News

I am super excited about the chance to be a second author for a new psychology book dealing primarily with feminsim and race factors in today's world. Both my parents are academics and have and are currently publishing books, references etc.. so its nice to keep up with family trends. (This book is supported well with a number of top psychologist working on it, but its funny, assuming my part is published along with the book, myself, my mother and my aunt will all have worked on it ;) )

book

sent out emails and letters to all remaining law schools to let them know about my authorship for this new text. I hope that this will tip the scale in my favor for any school that I am close to getting into

help
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

anyone know how much co-authoring a chapter of a major text in the field will help my chances of admission?? i'll even take guesses here since not too many i'm sure have definitive answers.

thanks

Acceptance #2

Hopefully they will keep coming in. Got an email from Washington U. saying I was accepted. They said the official letter will be coming within the week. Will update with more info when I get that.

I didnt know William and Mary was top 25 for men's soccer. If youre from UVa, then I hate you. Wake Forest always loses to UVA. Anyways, congrats on GM. I hope I get the same good news.

down with uva
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

no, i thought about uva. my sister played there but when i visited i didn't like the coach or team. it came down to wake forest actually and w&m and i decided w&m. but its ok, we always beat uva ... it was fun :) good luck to you too

phew
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

finally, some $ from washington u. way too expensive w/o it.

LoL
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

funniest phone call from a law school dean ever. anyone who has lived in williamsburg for 4 years would definately appreciate it.

answer
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

thats one way to put it. to be honest, i didn't have the same enjoyment playing pro as i did when i played in school. but it would be nice to get in to columbia no matter what the reason :)

BC
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

Kinda bummed about not getting into BC. Would have been a good fit. Although the priority waitlist is better than normal waitlist I doubt I will wait until june for BC b/c other scholarship offers will have expired by then.

Wow
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

The fact that I got rejected from columbia today wasn't much of a shock (even with the fee waiver). The fact I got into UVA was a surprise :)

Thanks
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

I'm still in shock

Congrats!
Monday, December 19 2005 at 07:00 PM

on UVA! That rocks!

good job on uva
Tuesday, September 06 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hope to see you there. P.S. D.C. United is the best

D.C united
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

haha...peter novak is a great coach. he was my coach at the mls combine and i can't say a bad thing about him...but chicaco drafted me and thats where my loyalty lies

thanks
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

and thanks to all those who congratulated me because i do greatly appreciate it. you all know the stresses that come with the territory so you all know the appreciation that comes with success

WOW
Sunday, August 14 2005 at 08:00 PM

Big ups!!!!! I'm happy for you, man. I somehow snuck on to the waitlist. I'm amazed. Holla back

Congrats on UVA!
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

I was deferred, too...hoping to get an acceptance in the mail. You've given me hope.

thanks
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

i'm still expecting to get another message from UVA saying "sorry we told you that you are admitted, you really arent..."

Yeah, I'm ok with it actually. I'd probably choose BU over it anyways! I was surprised and a little annoyed but it's a crapshoot! Cornell, ND, Wash U and BU are my top picks right now! :P Congrats on all your great schools!

thanks
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

and good luck with your decision. i've heard great things about cornell (ivy is always good) but i've also heard their students are really competitive. I love boston but you are from mass so it would be different for you. either way can't go wrong with any of the schools you are in at and don't count yourself out for the deferrals yet

thanks

I feel lucky with all my choices. congrats on UVA!!

BU
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

I LOVE Boston...BU would be great but i dont know...UVA is more of a national law school while BU is great in the Northeast. Hmm...

holla!
Wednesday, February 08 2006 at 07:00 PM

whoa, congrats on all thus far, and cornell is still holdin out on ya eh? *fingers crossed for ya*

Thanks thisguy!

I wonder if UVA is all done giving out scholarships. Everyone on LSN got theirs at least a week ago, but I'm still clinging to the hope that I don't have to pay it *all* back. :) I know you want to go to Michigan, but as a Midwesterner who has been doing the DC thing a few years, I can tell you that Virginia is great. The weather is pleasant and mild, and from what I hear the quality of life in Charlottesville can't be beat.

bc waitlist
Tuesday, December 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

I was put on the priority waitlist...apparently they are reviewed before normal waitlist. I was informed of my admission by phone and later an email and post. good luck !!!

and to you

Congratulations on UVA! I lived in the Cville area for a while and took the LSAT at the U. I see you're from VA, but in case you do not know the Cville area, be sure to visit the Blue Ridge Skyline periodically to unwind. Man, I miss that! Also, fav restaurant: Hamilton's, on the pedestrian mall. Well, go 'hoos!
