-12/16/10: In at Santa Clara via status checker. Letter via snail mail a few days later with Emery merit scholarship - $15,500/yr. contingent on top 25% or so. Feels good to have my first acceptance!

-01/04/11: In at Southwestern via email and checker

-01/04/11: Rejected at Boston University via snail mail.

-01/07/11: Decision rendered via status checker at Boston College. Probably rejected, but will have to wait for snail mail letter to figure out what the decision actually is...

-01/08/11: Officially rejected at BC via snail mail. No love from the east coast whatsoever!

-01/11/11: Got the pseudo-hold email from Dean Z at Michigan today. Don't really know what to make of it. At least I wasn't an auto reject. I would love to go there!

-01/19/11: Waitlisted at Cardozo via email. May withdraw because I would never pay full price there. I essentially only applied because they emailed me a fee waiver.

-01/21/11: Rejected at UVA via email. Meh...did not come as a surprise in the least, especially considering their in-state quotas, the fact that I did not write a "Why UVA," & the fact that I did not apply "ED."

Also, accepted at La Verne via snail mail. $39,000 per year. Renewable based on academic performance.

-01/24/11: Admitted at Chapman via status checker. Waiting on the snail mail acceptance package.

-01/25/11: Decision rendered at Loyola via status checker. Should receive decision letter within 7 business days.

-01/26/11: Snail mail acceptance letter from Chapman. $33,000 per year contingent upon a 3.0 GPA.

-01/27/11: Dinged at UCLA via email.

-01/28/11: In at Loyola. Got package today via snail mail. $87,000 spread evenly over 3 years if I maintain top 30%. Pretty nice offer. Santa Clara was my top choice, but now I am leaning towards Loyola.

Dinged at Berkeley via email. Expected, but still hurts a little.

-02/01/11: Waitlisted at Wisconsin today via email.

-02/10/11: Waitlisted at Hastings via email.

-02/25/11: Waitlisted at Michigan (via email) and Davis (via status checker). Michigan is my absolute number one choice/ dream school. Going to ride these 2 out.

-03/01/11: Withdrew my applications from Cardozo, Southwestern, & La Verne.

-03/07/11: Received a fee waiver from U Penn via email. Their deadline was Feb. 15th. I'm so confused....I def would've applied if this was given to me 4 MONTHS AGO!

-03/21/11: Rejected by Duke via email. Finally...

-03/24/11: Declined Chapman's offer.

-03/25/11: Rejected by UCI via snail mail. Couldn't care less at this point. Also, the letter had grammatical errors and was all smeared at the bottom - classy UCI. Hoping for a miracle from USC. If not, Loyola here I come.

-03/28/11: Withdrew from Wisconsin waitlist.

-03/30/11: Declined Santa Clara's offer. Their scholarship was sub-par compared to what Loyola offered.

-04/01/11: WL'd at USC via email.

-05/31/11: Michigan status checker says "Decision." Also, I received a letter in the mail saying that I am officially cut from the WL :(

-07/11/11: Withdrew from the Hastings and Davis waitlists. LA it is.

-08/10/11: IN OFF THE WL AT USC!!!

Yes, I'm Cuban. I do believe it has helped me this cycle, I got into alot of reaches. However, I have strong softs and wrote "Why X" essays for most schools, which I think helped alot. If you are looking to snag some reaches, I would apply in the midwest, due to their lack of hispanics and diversity in general. "Other-Hispanic's" tend to get a URM-type boost at schools like IUB, UIUC and Notre Dame.

No problem, it was a little hard to withdraw from Michigan 2 years in a row. I guess it wasn't meant to be. I will probably withdraw from USC soon. I think a lot of people are holding onto multiple acceptances right now, but movement should start soon. Best of luck!

i dont understand why you didnt wanna pass for a mexican? I mean I know u rep cuba but man that Fordham and UCLA reject would easily be an accept if you told them you were mexican.
