Extra Curricular Information

Not much. I worked a lot. My GPA is good enough for Latin Honors (Cum Laude). Too bad that DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING.

I was a research assistant for the Social Cognitive Neuroscience Clinic at the university I attended. I looked at fMRIs and discovered, despite much evidence to the contrary, that college students do, in fact, have brains. That was fun. I also got to scare the crap out of spider-phobic college freshman. That was more fun.

Additional info & updates

All apps went out 01/14/06 which is why, I've decided, I've been waitlisted at schools where my numbers seem to be good enough *cough* American *cough*.

Addendum: Okay kids, here it is: I suffered a sports injury while doing a triathlon sometime in 2004. This made sitting for the LSAT really hard because my back hurts like a bitch most of the time.
I submitted an addendum stating something to that effect, along with a doctors note verifying my condition. No one seems to be reading it, because it's almost the end of March, and I haven't gotten in ANYWHERE.

Maybe I'll just become a stripper. They make good money and you get a free STD test every month! What a perk! Plus, I hear (thanks ChristianNY) that it is unionized in Australia. Rock'n!

03/24/06: In at Pacific McGeorge (yay?). I sincerely hope I don't have to go there. (I have heard good things, so maybe it won't be so bad).

03/29/06: Was everyone waitlisted at W&M today? It seems like it. My first thought: *Dude, where is the LOVE for the Britster?*

03/30/06: Rejection from GW PT. There goes moving across the country, all that's left are schools in California. Man this sucks more than one of those dyson vacuums, you know, the really really sucky ones.

04/01/06: Losing my mind, I've applied to the only schools I could find with April 1st application deadlines (Denver and Depaul). They might actually be late, but I have to try!

04/20/06- Well the WL from Loyola finally came. I guess it's okay, I decided I wanted out of LA about two weeks ago.
Now it's down to McGeorge and ... Oh wait, now it's just down to McGeorge. Can't say I'm happy, but there's always kicking law school ass and transferring.

04/28/05- So out at UCLA. WHY UCLA WHY!? All I ever did was love you and fantasize about you and wish you good things. They said they were 'reluctant' to preclude an applicant such as myself from undertaking the study of law at UCLA. Reluctant? RELUCTANT?! Pshst. I feel like a rejected puppy dog.

04/29/2006- Rejected at Davis. 'Nuf said. :(

05/01/2006 LOCI to Iowa. I'm being honest when I'm tell them they are my top choice.

05/13/2006- I am the freaking queen of wait lists. Good God, I'm the queen of wait lists. I'm really bad a waiting, so lists with the word 'wait' in them are NOT GOOD LISTS. Meh.

05/26/2006- Off the wait list at Loyola. Now I have to stay in LA? Crap. I'd almost rather go to McG than stay here another 3 years. Downtown LA is a great place for some people- I am not one of those people.

06/20/06 in at Denver. Not going to go. Still stuck at Loyola >:(. Iowa! Please let me in. (please x 100,000) Yes, I'm getting just a bit obsessive. (But I did just sit in traffic for 2 hours to go about 20 miles.)

06/24/06 Read on LSD that Iowa is full and American isn't taking anyone else. Cried way too much. Cried some more. Sat in traffic for a total of 3.5 hours (Fridays- hummph).

After 2 years, 3 LSAT's and thousands of dollars, I will be attending the law school I could run to faster than traffic will allow me to drive: Loyola. And to think, that was my safety.

What we learned today kids: 1) Apply early 2) Never take anything for granted.... you never know.

More!!! 06/28- in at DePaul. Of the 6 waitlists, I got in to the 3 schools I don't really want to go to.

07/12/06: 4 Words that start with A: American. Accepted. AWESOME!!! Attending.

That about sums it up.

Can I be done with this crap now?

08/02/06: On my way to W. DC. Happy happy. Bottom of tier one? That's about wher I belong, I think.
G. Mason never did get back to me. I hope they have fun on the other side of the river over there.

Note to eyes: ready? set? read!

Love your comment about latin honors. I too was cum laude and feel like 4 years of extremely hard work was for naught b/c my LSAT was just above average. Boo.

haha

Thanks for the very amusing message. It was sweet, as always. ;) WTH is wrong with these schools. Seriously, No, really... You really think you could stand it over here though?! ;) Don't give up hope on your wls- if you really want one of those schools push them hard, I am sure they will come through!

Go Brittany!

Thanks for the note! You win my instant awe and admiration for being a triathlete- maybe when I've used up my time in one sport I can move over to that one. Hope your back is feeling better these days- I smiled when I read your profile...we're in the home stretch!

Britt is the best!

Just saw those Britt :( It's complete crap! Damn the LSAT! Damn LSAC! Four years of work eclipsed by a four hour test - it drives me crazy :( GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

...Saying that their class was full. I guess that's the same thing as being rejected, right?

Here is the e-mail exactly:

Dear Wait Listed Applicant: When you were placed on the Waiting List for admission to William & Mary Law School, you were advised that favorable action could be taken on your application only in the event that further openings in the class developed. Currently we are committed based on deposits paid. We may be able to admit additional students if we receive notice of withdrawals from individuals currently planning to enroll. Therefore, we will maintain an active waiting list throughout the summer. Please notify us if there is a change in your address, telephone number, or if at anytime, you wish to have your name removed from our waiting list. We will contact you immediately if we find it possible to accommodate you before school begins. As you realize, it is difficult to predict the number of spaces, if any, that will become available. We appreciate your interest in William & Mary Law School and regret being unable to take favorable action on your application at this time. It has been an extremely competitive year with our applications continuing at record levels. Good luck in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Faye F. I choose Loyola over McG (I have to, there's a huge ranking difference). But I *really* want off another wait list!

Again?
Saturday, March 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

Man, and everyone was so nice in my comments section. :(

You seem to be really on top of it.
Sunday, September 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

Seems we are alumni of the same school. Don't even mention the LSAT to me. I was scoring in the 170s on the Testmasters diagnostics. I really thought I wanted to go to Loyola. Was accepted part time and asked to switch back to full time so I'm still on the wait list. American sounds great. Congrats!!!! At this point it's Pepperdine for me and I don't know if I'd go to Loyola over Malibu. George Mason hasn't sent me a word in months. McGeorge gave me a fee waiver, promised me a scholarship and f..ed me with a PT offer. Seems we've weathered the storm and will both be ok. Good luck to you and yes, you are done with this crap.

Re: comments section: Well that worked, but I didn't get them all back :(

LLS VS AU

Because as far as I know Loyola = American. And I'd rather be in DC.
