Additional info & updates

12-24-05 - WOO-HOO! Accepted into Seton Hall. I hope that means good things about Villanova and Rutgers-Camden!! (8x11 envelope that is thicker)

1-16-06 - Waiting, waiting, and waiting. I'm really pulling for Villanova. It is still my top choice, but my LSAT is about 3 points below their median (based on their website). Hoping my GPA is just too high to ignore.

1-24-06 - Complete at Catholic (per email). Decision to come in three to five weeks. Still nothing from any other schools....

1-24-06 - .....until later that day. Accepted at NYLS with a $20,000 year scholarship (8x11 thick (bursting with tape on lip). Finally a law school is showing the benjamins!!!

1-28-06- Accepted at Widener with financial aid details to follow. With the appearence that I will be waitlisted by Villanova, if Widener comes through with some money I will definitely listen.

2-05-06- Super Bowl Surprise! I've never thought that admission decisions were made on the weekend, but I received my acceptance email at 5:00 clock this afternoon. (Obviously it was sent to me earlier, but it didn't get here til today). Anyway, that leaves my cycle down to two......but they are my top two choices as of right now...

Sigh...who ever thought I would want to go to Rutgers that bad.. (Their football team sucks)

2-14-06 - Happy Valentine's Day! I've kind of been doing a little bit of reflection on this whole process as it starts to wind down. I'm still doing some mailbox babysitting for decisions from Villanova and Rutgers-Camden, however, my views have changed a little bit. I am getting more and more enticed about going to Dickinson as I was accepted to University Park Campus. I've gotten really high on them and I think theiir reputation will jump to Ohio State status in the next five years.

As it stands right now, on March 1st I will likely send my seat deposits in for Widener, Seton Hall, and Dickinson. I don't want to hold spots up for other people who want them, but I want to make sure that no other merit based money will be offered.

I am also starting to schedule visits. I will be visiting Dickinson-University Park on March 17th and will be going to the Seton Hall open house on April 7th. I will also be scheduling a visit to Widener soon.

Good luck to everyone during this process,...it is hard on so many people.

2-17-06 -- So, I call Villanova today to check on the status of my application. I've been doing this about every three weeks or so, and each time I get the same answer, "Your file is complete and ready for review". Blah, blah, blah.

Well, today, they tell me that they will call me back in an hour. I get very excited! Are they going to tell me my decision!?!? I get a call back two minutes later telling me that "My file is complete and ready for review". I'm going to write that down as a deferral even if it might not be.

03/08/06 - After a long time with no news, Dickinson comes through with an $18,000 Dean's Scholar scholarship ($3,000 per semester). It isn't much, but it just puts a little more on my sway to attend Penn State this fall (especially because I haven't seen them giving to much money to anyone else anyway)

03/29/06 - I GOT IN!!!!! OMG....I AM FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW! I got an email from Kathy Dunn (Admissions) saying that I was accepted. I only got an email cause I called them that day and asked them to check my file. They said the person who had it was out...but apparently I was accepted!!!!!

I will be visiting the school within a week (I already visited with them last August) to work out financial aid and look at my future school one more time.

If all goes well, I will withdraw the rest of my applications next week! But right now....I'm gonna party like its law school time!!!!

WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

04-01-06 -- Received the official letter in the mail today. Will be withdrawing from all of my schools over the weekend and be attending Villanova School of Law in Fall 2006!!!!

Thanks for all of the messages guys and good luck to you all for now and in our 1L!

04-25-06- Before I was accepted to Villanova, I wrote a last ditch effort in an attempt to get me into Temple. Surprised, I received a letter that overturned my rejection into a waitlist.

What does this mean? Probably nothing, as I am still 99.9% committed to Nova. Still......I plan on moving into Philadelphia anyway, and if I do get that call in July, it wouldn't hurt to at least consider Temple..

Right????

8-16-06 -- So, I got a call today from Temple offering me a full time spot in their class. I told them I'd let them know by Friday and then I'll update the site.

I am so sorry to hear about Temple. I have no idea why you got rejected from them. Don't worry-- i'm sure ur too good for them anyway!

I got the acceptance letter today via snail mail, regular envelope with about half a dozen papers in it.

Hi!
Friday, January 06 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey man, Yeah, I go to Marywood. Our numbers are very similar...which is why it worries me that I won't get into Temple. I have some soft factors, however, that I'm hoping might help me. And you're right, it is odd how you got rejected so early... :0( I was, however, seriously considering applying to Marquette as well, so that gives me some hope. You did already get into some good schools, and hopefully there's more to come. Take it easy.

I'm trying!

Hey, Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's funny you said that; I was thinking the same thing, but decided not to say it. What bugs me isn't that they have that policy; what irritates me is they make it seem otherwise, clearly on their website. Do you know what I'm referencing? I'm sure you probably do. Oh well, I think you're right about the Buffalo, but University of Pittsburgh seems to be the same way, from my visit there. We shall see, however. Just stings a little, because I liked Temple a lot.

Congrats!

Hey man, Congrats on your new acceptances, and good luck on the rest...it's been a good cycle for you!!!

What is your top choice right now? And btw, thank you so very much for your messag eon my page. I really do believe that our hard work will pay off and I know that law schools will see that and so many have already seen that in you! Good for you!

It's hard... i am weary to say my top choice, buecause it's a long shot... As of right now, I have only been accepted to Uf and to say that is my top hcoice would be a lie. I go there now and love it, but think I want something new and different for law school. But... I really want to go to UVa. UVa and Yale are my true number one(s). Only time will tell. I wrote a million extra essays for both of those schools and I hope they take them into account. I'll keep you informed :) My friend goes to Villanova now, she's a 1L and she loves it! And oh my you got accepted so quickly into the CAtholic University of AMerica! Wow! Very impressive! Don't listen to anyone about an "LSAT cutoff" your hard work will speak for itself!

hey, I saw your email on a mass mailing I got from penn state about housing at university park. What do you think about that law school? Do you think that it will move up the rankings since they have a school at university park now?

Marquette is a good school and milwaukee is a great town. Foley (a top 10) sends a recruiter there and hires quite a few summer associates. Making $1200 a week over the summer of your 2nd year can't be that bad. The starting salary is $97,000 and my uncle tells me that grades are the biggest determining factor at getting hired at his firm. I am certain you would have no trouble getting into the law review at Marquette and getting the grade. Good luck!

Thanks

I'v been hoping for a call all day... but it has yet to come... i guess we'll see what the mailman brings at the end of the week! Thanks for your kind words! Happy Valentine's Day!

love/hate relationship with mailboxes
Sunday, November 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

Haha, I know how you feel about the mailbox thing. "Babysitting" is a good way to put it. I live in an apartment, so the front desk thinks I'm crazy as I check for the mail 5 times a day. Good Luck to you... Congrats on NYLS...I'm still waiting on them, but I'm hopeful.

Hey, we have similar stats and I was wondering what you were thinking about PSU. I got into University Park too and I go there now. I was wondering what an outsiders thoughts on it were. Also, which Wilkes-Barre school do you go to?

Thanks...
Wednesday, January 11 2006 at 07:00 PM

I'm really sad right now, that comment was a lot for me to take in. I know you dont know me, but I really appreciate you standing up for me and writing what you did. I think I am done with lawschoolnumbers.com for a while. maybe ill make a new account later. I may change my mind, but regardless, I want to let you know that you are a wodnerful person and I hope that everything works out for you. Thank you again. I cant tell you how much you sticking up for me meant to me.

I live near Scranton, that is why I was asking about the Kings. Feel free to email me if you need someone to show you around State College. You are visiting on an interesting weekend. There will be a lot of action for St. Patrick's Day. Thanks for your input.

PSU... again
Sunday, February 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

PS. I am graduating from PSU in May. I was trying my hardest to find some new surroundings, but for some reason I am drawn back to Penn State, especially after seeing the new profs they hired to teach. I want to do corporate law and I think this school will be connected to the SMEAL College of Business, where I have networked for the past four years. Also, I have talked to many people in the professional community and they think this new campus is going to have Dickinson's rankings skyrocket. I can't see going anywhere else.

I sent in my seat deposit last week. Can't wait to go. Send me an e-mail if you would like. Congrats see you this summer

Kings?
Saturday, April 15 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey, did you go to Kings? My brother went there. I'm not sure if I'm going to Nova, but it's a possibility. I like the school and I know a few good people at it, I do hear that it's students are a little pretentious and very competitive, but hey, it's the main line. The school has a great reputation in the NE. Good Luck
