congrats on UF...best of luck with the rest of your schools
congrats on UF. Im hoping to get in even though my lsat is not that good. I just love the idea of paying around 15,000 per yr for law school instead of 45,000. Plus, you can't beat Gators football at the Swamp for three more years! Good luck with your other apps.
Thank you for your kind remarks. I think that it is important not to shut doors when they may be open. I wish the best for your during this admissions cycle. Congradulations on the acceptances you have already received. I am sure there are more to come!!
You're going to law school and that is great. In reference to what you said on boonie's page---I disagree--it's not reverse discrimination--The reasons behind people of color scoring lower on standarized tests is directly related to their status as minority ethnicities and the inequality in OPPORTUNITIES provide to them. That being said even if you were a person of color that would not secure you a spot anywhere. What is truly a shame is that a nearly perfect college record such as yours isn't valued as much as a test taken one random saturday (or monday) . I hope we can continue this discussion as new admitts at Yale!!! Much cali love and good luck to you!
I appreciate your kind words. It's been a great cycle for me already (even if I don't get into Villanova or Rutgers). I'm truly blessed and you are as well (Go Florida!). Nice to see you and I weren't the slackers that some of these applicants were the past four years. It really is sad that a 4 hour test overshadows 4 years of truly hard work. Anyway, it is people like you and me who will really do good work at Law School anyway. Good luck and I'll be checking your profile often for more good news! Mike
hey. UVa is my top choice as of now. That would be great if we both got in...do you know when we are likely to hear? I just got waitlisted at temple today but I was hoping for my first acceptance. What part of the country are you from?
I've kinda been on the fence about my first choice. Of all of the schools I have been accepted to so far, Dickinson is my top choice. They've really been jumping up in the ratings and I was accepted to Main Campus, so that it would be pretty cool. As you could tell by my application choices, I'd really like to go to Philadelphia for school. I believe that Villanvoa and Rutgers are going to waitlist me. I'm also confident that I could probably get accepted off those waitlists, but I would also likely get no financial aid. So, to sum it up. Dickinson is my top choice. If Widener gives me a half-tuition scholarship I could see them jumping to the top (if they gave me a full I would take it immeadately). And Villanova if I could make the money work. So,...I guess I didn't answer your question. What are your top choices???
Im at UCF
so much. Your words made me smile. ;0) I got a letter from Notre Dame about the waitlist, then I went on lawschooldiscussion and did a search and found out info from last years students who were waitlisted. Several of them got in off the waitlist so all hope is not lost. Good Luck to you as well on getting into your top choice.
i hope our majors, solid gpa and so-so lsat are good enough to get us in anyway. good luck.
Thanks for your message and congrats on your UF acceptance. You just can't beat thegreat education, ridiculously cheap tuition plus 3 more years of Gator football games :)
Congrats! And thanks for the kind words. Where do you think you will be attending? I was waitlisted at GW and kind of down but I'm over it, NYC will be great! Don't get let down, GW and UT are both REALLLY hard to get into. btw, did you take a test prep class?
I'm pulling for you!!!!!
Spoke to Dean Trujillo early afternoon (1:30 or 2:30?) and didn't get the status change email until 10pm that night. BUT, he doesn't call everybody. Status change without phone call doesn't necessarily equal rejection. Also, UVa sends acceptances in a business-sized envelope, so don't panic when you get that either. Best of luck!
You know, I think ND was sort of a fluke. I didn't think I would get in... I'm assuming it had to do with my ethnicity and my socio-economic status. Congrats on UF. I might end up going there too.
for the insight into UVA's protocol. That gives me hope. I'll cross my fingers for both of us...!
I wasn't deferred this time around, I was deferred before and am waiting for a new status. You can't be deferred at this point since you didn't do Early Action. Good luck to you!
And Congrats to you!! Florida that's awesome, hopefully more will be on the way!!
also, what exactly did it say?
Thanks!! and congrats on your acceptance. I've got my toes crossed. I've noticed some deffered people are getting rejection letters, and a few of us that haven't (yet) got emails saying our file is in review...so yay more waiting. I'll keep ya posted :) GO GATORS!! :)
acceptance came in business envelope appx. 1 week after online status change
no call, just the letter.
thanks for the comments :) good luck to you! UF is awesome! congrats
hey girl, sorry to hear about VA but you're right, it is their loss! Keep your head way up!!!
your kind words and luck paid off...accepted to U. Florida...maybe ill see u there
Sorry about UVa. Good attitude, though--and best of luck with the other schools.
Hey, Congrats on Florida. Nice to see that a mediocre LSAT didn't stop you from getting into a quality school. GL on the rest of your apps.
Hey Pinklaw, I also got into UF with a mediocre LSAT. I was totally shocked. Hopefully I will see you there. It would be nice to get to know some people before I move to Gainesville.
Okay people... I dont think it is appropriate to call an LSAT score mediocre. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions about their score, but I feel mediocre is a very strong, negative word and I don't want to call anyone's score mediocre. My score isn't the best, I dont pretend it is... but I dont want too be overly negative about it.
sorry to hear about uva....good luck with everything
sorry, Pink, no offense intended at all!
Thanks for all of your messages about UVa! They are much appreciated!
Just FYI: I don't think "mediocre" is an overly negative word. It just means "middle-of-the-road" or "not great but not terrible." Its root is "med," as in "medium" or "median." Since a 150-151 LSAT score is the median, I would say it's fair to call any score that is close to that "mediocre." Honestly, I don't mean any offense -- and I don't think the others meant any either. I'm just defending the use of a word that really doesn't carry any overly negative connotations. (Your sensitivity to the word might be a bit idiosyncratic.) Forgive me: I'm an English professor, so I'm sort of predisposed to scrutinizing (and defending) words. For what it's worth, I got a 168 on the LSAT and I have a PhD (in English), and I got rejected from UVA too. So don't feel too bad about it.
congrats on UF- even tho thats a relatively old acceptance. they r a top ranked school, and i noticed u go there- so what do you think of it? i guess they are more open to stronger gpas and lower lsat scores..i was thinking of applying....
Which school has a better reputation in the state, without regard to the U.S. news poll in your opinion?
would you consider going to American over Florida? Let me know what you think.
thanks for the kind words. If possible, shoot me an email sometime. I have some questions for you about the new UF buildings that I'm sure you could answer. Thanks again. mike
even though you stole our football coach, no hard feelings. i am done with burning effigies. schools emphasize the lsat too much. it is one day compared to 1500 days of undergrad study. good luck
I called the big U of F and they still have yet to decide...march looks more promising :(
your g.p.a...depresses me LOL. I think that is awesome that you did so well in undergrad..you worked hard and I hope you get into a great "ivy" school even tho, UF is considered the harvard of the south you know...(wow-who came up with that one!!)
may know each other...but I reflect back on my attendance...there is a good likely hood we may know eachother from a bar (than from school!! haha)...but by the looks of your gpa...not likely?!! :) Keep it real..
I know you wanted to go to UVA, and while it's a great school and has attractive surroundings, Charlottesville isn't anything special - It's also pretty far away from DC and Richmond. I think UF probably has a better location - Plus, you can't beat instate rates for law school. I'm glad to see that some schools look after their alumni. Best of luck.
I love your enthusiasm! At this point....Santa Clara is looking pretty tempting, but in a perfect world I think BYU or UNC, for many reasons. Gotta love having choices, kinda sucks to have to reconcile them :-). How 'bout yourself?
loook at getting deferred to UVa as an accomplished---in a few years you will realize that this is no easy task and while you might have been rejected, it is still a story you will be able to tell for the rest of you life. good luck with everything- im watching closely
Drop me a line some time
when u applied to UF they ask for LOR and like performance letters ( i dont remember what they were called) but mine would have been from the same person so I didn't bother. Did you bother?? Lol.
I think they are called evaluation letters, where employers and comm service people describe your performance on things. They take like 3 of those and three LORs..which is excessive. I wonder when UF will send out their next wave of letters......
Nice! Clearly the automobile of choice for aspiring lawyers everywhere! :) Congrats on your acceptances and good luck!
when is Uf's seat deposit due...im wondering if they are waiting for some W's before they let me in..lol ;) thanks
i got the wait list letter last night from uva...more waiting. good luck with everything
are u going to the admitted candidate thing on april 7?
thanks and congrats on uf! great school!
i surrre hope so!! I'd love to meet up with you!!
iam actually flying down on thursday...i have friends at UF so i figured it would be cheap trip with no cab or hotel fees. I hope there will be a lot of people there bc at this point the nature of the student body will have a lot to do with my final decision
i got a PDF bootleg from a law professor in New York(they are not supposed to be seen until April 1). UF is alone at 41 with higher #s than last time.
no...unfortunately...i got the letter today. seems im the first on the list to go. but why did it take 7 months!!!! looks like ill be taking the test again. Did you take any prep courses? I took Princeton and didnt like it, im thinking Testmasters?
but now there is no 5 way tie for 41. Also, the 2008 rankings will consider the fact they have finally phased out spring admissions for our class, and the new library should inlfuence peer assesment scores by next year. I bet UF moves into the mid or high 30s by 2008, which is cool
will you be at the admitted students day on Friday? I hope to meet you then.
oh man, go gators! i bet you're even more excited about the acceptance now :-) i'm not in gville but i wish i was!
Hey, have you heard anything from PBK? I'm graduating from UF this semester and was really hoping that I'd get it.
Unfortunately there are people like 'GatorLaw" out there who put other people down. I hope none of you come across a person such as this. In the past, I have deleted his rude messages and comments, but now, I figure what is the point. i'm going to law school, who cares what someone who I dont even know thinks! For everyone who has had someone try and bring you down this cycle, they are all just jealous people, be proud and know how awesome you are, I know how great my law life is going to be. Love and Kisses, PinkLaw, UF C/O 09'!!!!
Hi there! Congrats on your acceptance! and wow, GatorLaw is a douche, sucks people like him will be around, eh, oh well. I saw your post on someone else's page and was wondering where you signed a lease. I haven't began looking yet, just curious where you signed. Thanks!
Wow! I'm starting to notice the strong UF following. Im used to hearing about UNC all the time like this, but I hate UNC. (Went to Wake ug for a reason). Btw, do you have any recs for housing in Gainesville? Hope to meet you in the fall.
Congrats on Florida. I've got my fingers crossed that they will take me off the waitlist. I've never been there but I hear its awsome. Best of luck.
Well from an apartment standpoint, I have seen Point West and Piccadilly recommended the most for law students. Most of the Gainesvillians seem to speak of these magical house rentals that are right outside the law school, but my telescope stops short of the 1,000 miles it is to Gainesville, so any help, advice, suggestions, fortune cookie wisdom, or contacts would be greatly appreciated! Look forward to meeting you in the fall!
Best wishes for a great 3 years!! I know you'll be top 5%!!!
Hey, I might be attending UF law next year as well. Can't decide what I want to do yet. Hopefully GatorLaw will be there so I can smash his face in...what kind of dork talks trash over the internet to a girl. Sorry but as I've learned, the people you need to be careful of in life aren't the ones running their mouths. Good luck to you, might see you soon!
well, this 155'er got waitlisted at UF. Also, it's un-friggin-believable how long FSU is taking to give us decisions. I mean, you'd think they'd have let YOU in BEFORE UF did! Hopefully, I'll see you at UF.
my last name is Pendergraft, search on facebook and see if you know me.
Ill see you in Gainesville in August! Go Gators
on your acceptance to UF!!!
