Additional info & updates

finally was accepted at widener with a fairly healthy scholarship. but i wont be going there. i wasnt too impressed with their admissions office.

probably about 99 percent sure i'll be headed to Drexel in the fall.

still waiting to hear from suffolk but the fact that they are taking so long is a bit of a turn-off.

i went to accepted students day at drexel and it felt like a good fit for me and i think the school has a lot of potential and has done just about everything right up to this point.

RE: Drexel

Hey, got your post. As for Drexel, my Pre-Law advisor and professor got an e-mail last week from a former colleague who is now the VP of enrollment up there. She told him I was in with 1/2 scholarship, which he then forwarded to me. I assume he was supposed to tell me....who knows. I'm concerned about the accred. as well. Drexel is cleary a fine institution, and will have great law school. My concern is summer prospects as well though. I am considering setting up an appointment over winter break to speak with someone in their office. I'm not too far from philly when I am home in NJ.

Congrats on Duq. by the way, are you strongly considering it? I know I am, it has a good name from what I understand.

Congrats on your acceptance into Drexel. I am considering setting up a tour/appointment as well to help calm my slight fears about their lack of accreditation. However, judging from those who they have hired, they all come from wonderful backgrounds and great schools. If you hear of anything unusual, good or bad, please let me know. And once again, Congrats!!

Of your schools that you're in at...I would go to Duquesne, without question. But that's based on repuatation and quality of education. Im still waiting on Seton Hall, Rutgers, 'Cuse, and Mercer.

hey bud, looks like we have a weekly conversation about schools here. Happy Holidays by the way. As for RWU, the campus is beautiful, I went to visit on their homecoming...so it was busy. The law school's building is nice, and the school's reputation in Rhode Island is pretty sound because it's the only school in that state. However, again, of the schools you've gotten into, I would go to Duquesne. Not to put too much stock into US News rankings or anything..but reputation and name goes a long way. Duq is a good, strong, catholic school that many lawyers in the northeast (at least all the partners that i speak to at both my parents' practices in NYC, Jersey, Philly and Miami) respect. If you have you're heart set on Boston or the surrounding New England area, then suffolk is a good bet too. Hope that helps.

hey man, congrats on the schools too. as for roger williams and widener, all their scholarship stuff came in the mail with the acceptance letter. there's no chance i'm going to roger williams though, considering i got good offers from schools close to home. i know drexel isn't accredited yet, but their offer is going to be really hard to turn down. i also like what they've said about their program a lot.

Hey! The scholarship info was on the same page as my acceptance letter. Good luck! I'm from Philadelphia and I know the area around Drexel. Just make sure you go and visit. Of course there is more to consider besides location. P.S I heard Philadelphia has a hot legal market. Good luck!

Liberty

Don't go to Liberty. From what Understand it is not even provisionally approved(which drexel is). Whether fair or not many people who hire lawyers will view it as a crazy right wing school..... Congrats on the Duq acceptenance, From all ive researched it looks like a really good school, and cheaper then most.

Miami
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on the acceptances! Sorry to see the ding from Miami. I'm still waiting to hear from them. Today they sent me a large white package and I got my hopes up but it turned out to be a generic letter from the financial aid dept. Did you happen to get one of these? Is it normal to get a letter from financial aid before getting accepted? Thanks.

Hi...I CANNOT believe that you got waitlisted at Widener. I was waitlisted too and was completely shocked. Your numbers are higher than mine though (152, 3.4), so it's even more appalling. Unbelieveable...I think I'm headed to Duquesne this fall anyway. Good luck at Drexel; Philadelphia is awesome and it sounds like Drexel will become a great Philly law school.
