Attending Tennessee in the Fall...

I guess the next matter to deal with is housing. If you have any tips on the Knoxville community (where to live, which apt buildings are better etc.) your input is appreciated. I figure I will end up by myself, however if anyone is looking for a roommate holler at me. It would be nice to be able to share the expenses :)

Congrats on FSU! We applied to several of the same schools...I wish you the best of luck and maybe we will wind up at the same place!

What do you mean about Tennessee? Do they take a long time? I'm really leaning more and more toward Tennessee as one of my top choices. As much as I thought I wanted a big city I am leaning more toward a southern, modest place to practice!

I looked back at last cycle, and you're right...I guess I'm checking my mailbox everyday for no reason! I really don't want to wait that long...do you think there is anything we can do to hurry the process up a little? I see they haven't accepted anyone from this board yet.

Congrats on FSU, I've applied there also. Good thing you didn't apply to Regent, if they got your application as saw you interned for Democrats they'd probably have to exorcise your application from their school.

Same here with WVU folks. Ha, just kidding. Congrats on Louisville, even if you don't go there. I'm from Huntington so it's a little closer than WVU. Hopefully I can get in. I screwed up on my LSAT.

  • Monday, January 23 2006 at 01:00 AM

Thanks man. I was disappointed by UK, but getting into UC was a relief. I'm still up in the air, though. Once Louisville's decision comes in, I'll have to sit down and weigh all the options. MU will lose by 30. Ha, probably not. You know how these games are. WVU is about 30 times better, but somehow it's always close. Good luck on your apps. Looks like your doing great.

What do you know, the Louisville acceptance came in the mail a little bit after I typed that last message. Did your scholarship offer come with the first letter? Or did it come later?

- cubsrams1
  • Hmm
  • Monday, January 23 2006 at 01:52 PM

To be honest, it's too early for me to tell. I'm going to wait and see if I get any scholarship offers. WVU at $10,000 is appealing. UC is $30,000, but you can establish residency. And Louisville is $20,000, but I like the area a lot. We'll see!

on Ole Miss. Way to show a completely undeserved sense of entitlement. I hope you withdraw immediately so that someone without a serious attitude problem can get a seat there.

  • watch yourself!
  • Friday, March 10 2006 at 06:45 AM

Kuherb32...way out of line. I second your opinion, Bhazelwood; you applied in November and deserved to hear back earlier on. I would understand it if you had marginal numbers, but you clearly do not. It doesn't matter, though, it's not one of your top 3 anyways. As your best friend on LSN :) I hope we will both wind up at UT this fall. I'm really battling with the choices I have as of late, because I am not sending in multiple seat assignments while waiting to hear back. If Pepperdine is my only out of state option (I decided PSU is not for me), its something I have to keep considering. I will definitely hold out as long as I can for UT and when we both get in, we need to go straight to the bars for a LSN victory celebration in Knoxville!

- leishie817
  • ok, scratch that...
  • Saturday, March 11 2006 at 03:06 PM

...I received my rejection from UT today. Maybe I can still come down to Knoxville and we can have a bar night anyways! I'm so happy for you on your decision to go there; best of luck at UT!

Hey, would you help a ORM white male out and withdraw from Ole Miss? It's my first choice and I am still waitin' to hear back. Congrats on some awesome acceptances. If you wind up at UTK -- that'll be an awesome place to spend 3 years.

No offense taken.. I'm just telling everyone not going to Ole Miss to withdraw. I hate this wait, as well. But it's my first choice so I guess I have to be patient. Best of luck man.

I haven't 100% decided on UTK, but that's what I'm leaning towards. Like you, I'm waiting on financial aid. Right now, I just know about the loans they're offering me based on FAFSA. I'll be at the admitted students day at the end of this month, and if all goes well there, that'll pretty much seal the deal for me.

Check out Knoxville place apartments. They are about 2 years old and huge. The building has a wonderful social space including an outdoors veranda. It is also fairly close to the law school and with in easy walking distance of anything on the strip.

Hey...noticed you will be attending UT next year and may have something of interest to you in the housing arena. I was a member of the class of 2008 but withdrew after the first semester...don't want to be an attorney anymore! gulp. anyway, i loved the downtown housing in knoxville and would be more than happy to hook you up with a very unique loft apartment above a lawfirm with 8 lawyers who all went to UT and were very helpful to me during my time in knoxville. my aim name is ibisgolfer or you can email me. the place is great and i have pictures of it. very old and historic and walkable to campus too. All hardwoods probably 1200 square feet and 2 bedrooms. Could probably live 2. Anyway hit me back if you have any questions or know anyone else who could benefit. best of luck, mike

I'm going up next week to look for a place...like you I'm planning on living by myself. If you've already been, let me know if you found anything worthwhile--and if not, I'll let you know what I find...I'm looking mostly west of campus b/c that's where the admissions office told me most people who live outside of the downtown area live.
