Applicant Information

Demographic Information

Extra Curricular Information

I did a few things outside of class, but most of my free time was spent working through school.

Went to undergrad at a public university in TN. B.A. in English.

Graduate degree--MLS

157/3.35 (3.67 degree)

1/3/07--Still waiting on Maryland to request my report. I haven't received any "complete" notices yet.

1/4/07--Email from W&M stating that my application is now complete.

1/5/07--Maryland finally requested my report. Yay! Email confirmation from Baylor with my status check password info.

1/8/07--Email from Illinois stating that my application is now complete.

1/9/07--Email that I'm complete at UTK. That was fast!

1/11/07--More complete notifications via email from SMU, Pace, Franklin Pierce, and American.

01/24/07--Got three emails from GMU yesterday telling me that my app is complete.

*Phone call from admissions rep at Hamline congratulating me on my acceptance and offer of Dean's Merit scholarship: $15,700/yr renewable. Details forthcoming in the mail! Yay!

01/26/07--Email from Pierce. I'm in! No mention of money, but they're sending me an official letter with "further information," so I'm hoping they offer me a scholarship or something. :-)

01-26-07--Came home to two rejection letters from American and Maryland. I knew they were dings from what I've read on this message board. Oh well...their loss, right?

01-29-07--Letter from Pierce came today. Offer of $12,000/yr scholarship with 3.2 GPA. Cool!

01-30-07--Email from Temple stating that my file is complete.

02-02-07--I was among those who got the now infamous Hofstra email on Friday. I was able to login, but I'll wait for their official acceptance notification before changing my status on here from "pending" to "accepted" just in case it was a glitch.

02-05-07--Got my Hofstra acceptance in the mail today. Came priority with $18,000k/yr scholarship and free t-shirt. There was a very nice hand-written note about my work experience and professional background.

02-06-07--Got my rejection letter from Illinois today. I was expecting it soon, so no big surprise there. *sigh* I'm really starting to wish I was retaking the LSAT this Saturday.

*Complete at UGA via status checker.

02-09-07--spoke with very nice admissions rep from UTK on the phone. I'm in!!! With in-state tuition. YES!

02-10-07--Rejection letter from DePaul. Don't care. I got into Tennessee!

02-12-07--UTA status checker says my file is complete. Got my acceptance letter from UTK in the mail! I actually squealed with delight when I opened it. I also got an acceptance letter from Marquette today--thin envelope in case you were wondering. No mention of $$$ though. With each acceptance so far, I get one rejection to balance it out. I'm at 5 and 4 now,so I expect a rejection from somewhere this week to balance everything out again. I hope it's not from Catholic.

02-16-07--In at Pace with $15K/yr scholarship. Came in large Priority Mail envelope.

02-19-07--Sending out four withdraw forms tomorrow for Pierce, Pace, Hofstra and Marquette. Pierce was a tough decision to make since I want to do IP law. Hopefully, this will make some room for others on waitlists.

02-20-07--FINALLY heard from Catholic today with a waitlist letter. It's starting to look more and more like I will be Knoxville-bound in August. I'm still very excited about Tennessee. It's a solid school PLUS I scored in-state residency.

02-21-07--Email from Penn State. I'm in! More info to follow in the mail. Rock on.

02-23-07--Came home to two large packets--one from Penn State and one from St. Thomas. St. Thomas offered me $8,000 merit scholarship/yr. I'm narrowing down my choices, so I'll be withdrawing from St. Thomas next week. No word on money from Penn State, but I'm hoping that will come later.

02-28-07--Scholarship letter from Penn State came today. $5K/yr renewable as long as I'm in top half of class. I was kind of hoping for a little more dough.

03-05-07--Ok, DC, I get it! You don't want me. Fine. Your cost-of-living is too expensive anyway, so there.

Got accepted at Toledo. No mention of $$$, but it's nice to get an acceptance to balance out the George Mason ding. *sigh*

03-19-07--Came back from vacation to find a rejection letter from UTA (shocked!) and a deferral letter from L&C. Found out about the Georgia ding via status checker.

03-26-07--I've decided I will be attending UTK. I'm still going to leave my application status up since I'm still curious about the remaining schools I haven't heard from. Good luck to everyone and hopefully I'll see some of you in Knoxville!

03-28-07--Waitlisted at W&M. Do you have any idea how relieved I am that I wasn't rejected? They've been my top choice from the beginning, and it's validating enough to know that I *could* possibly, maybe get into a T1 school.

07-22-07--Moving to Knoxville in 3 weeks. Orientation begins Aug. 20th. Good luck to everyone with your first year!

I've applied to six schools so far. I think I'm going to cool it for a bit until I know my LSAT score. I kinda feel like I'm jumping the gun, but then again I feel like I've at least got to get my apps in. I don't think I could have picked a worse time to take the LSAT and apply to law schools. *sigh*

  • LSAT Finally!
  • Friday, December 22 2006 at 09:37 AM

I was shocked to get my LSAT score yesterday afternoon. While a 157 isn't anything special, it's much better than my diagnostic score of 148. I've decided not to retake in February and just see where I can get in w/my GPA & LSAT. I'm hoping that my personal statement and professional work experience will help round out my application package.

Re: Catholic - they notified me with a HUGE packet in the mail. I also got an email a few weeks ahead of time with financial aid information in it. I wasn't sure though if everyone got that or if it went out to admitted students only. Good luck!

  • Monday, January 29 2007 at 08:23 AM

Thanks! Yeah, I am really looking forward to that acceptance e-mail from Catholic. feel like we might have a lot in common in terms of score and hoping the work experience and personal statements make the difference. I'm pretty sure Catholic is a good fit for me, especially with the Institute I applied to. And it is their loss, regarding Maryland and American. We went complete at Catholic the same day, I think the e-mail might come this week, don't you?

Thanks for your note about UTK. I could hardly believe the letter when I got it. It was almost too quick. Hopefully they will let you know soon too. Waiting is hard. :) Did you ever check the Maryland status checker? Mine has been the same (application recieved) for what feels like forever. Did you get any completion info from them, or just the final decision?

Thanks for the encouragement. I would assume from when you sent out your apps that it will probably be about one or two weeks before the decisions REALLY start rolling in. With so many of our apps in the same place (I know a lot of mine ar hidden), who knows, we may end up as 1Ls together. Good luck with everything!!!!

That's awesome!! I'm assuming you're not from TN if they're offering you instate? I hope this means that the letter they sent out to everyone includes scholarship info! (They keep emailing about the "delay" in "The Business Letter") Everyone at UTK has been so ridiculously nice to me, it's keeping them at the top of my list, that's for sure! - brittuck
  • Congrats too!
  • Monday, March 05 2007 at 01:53 PM

Congrats on your schools too! Have it narrowed down at all? American stung because it was my first rejection. I got my waitlist from Temple today which was a bit of a surprise since I had a fee waiver from them. Oh well. Hope the rest of your cycle goes well and you end up where you want to be.

- brittuck
  • not sure
  • Friday, March 09 2007 at 12:27 PM

I'm still waiting on a few schools before I make up my mind. But it's kind of narrowed down to Santa Clara and Rutgers Camden right now. And if DePaul decides to take me off the waitlist I might go there. But of course if UCLA decides to be crazy and offer me admission then I'd go there in a heart beat.

- brittuck
  • Congrats
