Additional info & updates

Notes:
GENERAL: I'm using this column as a timeline of events, mostly to give myself some organized record of my cycle.

RANKINGS: The numbers I've placed for each school are the school's current rankings.

FEE WAIVERS: For those who are curious as to how merit-based fee waivers can be obtained, you have several options.
1.) EMAIL the school and ask! I just politely emailed the admissions at each school, told them I was interested in their school, was wondering if they have merit based fee waivers, and if I would qualify for one based of my LSAT score of X and GPA of X.
2.) CRS: Also, when I emailed the schools, many of them told me I'd have to wait for their next CRS search to see if I'm qualified. So if you haven't done so already, register with the CRS (Candidate Referal Service, you can sign up on your profile page of your LSAC account) and choose to share info with the law schools. They will email you if you qualify. This is how they typically award fee waivers.
3.) HIDDEN WAIVERS - You can go through the screens as if you were to submit your application to XYZ law school. When you get to your payment options you may see that your fee has been waived due to CRS. _______________________________________________

DECISIONS TIMELINE:
11/11/10- Accepted via email and status checker to Washington & Lee! Also logged onto the University of Michigan admitted students' website! I'm waiting for the mail to make it official.
11/12/10 - Received Michigan's acceptance letter (USPS), dated & postmarked 11/09. I am really excited because it's one of my top choices! :-)
11/18/10- Phone call from Dean Ingram. In at Texas. Scholarship letter to come in 10 days. So happy!
11/19/10: In via status checker for W&M!!
11/22/10: Scholarship info at W&M. Received Graduate Fellowship (instate tuition, 4k/yr stipend) & additional 10k/yr scholarship.
Decision rendered at Iowa. Don't know what it is yet, though...
11/24/10- In via email at WUSTL. I'm being considered for a Law Scholars Award.
11/26/10: Admitted to U Iowa and received scholarship information for U Texas in mail.
11/30/10: in at Cornell via email & status checker. Also in at Alabama via phone call (I'm being considered for a scholarship here as well).
12/03/10: OH...MY...GOD.... In at Illinois with $120k guaranteed!!!!! :-)
12/06/10: Could generate password at Georgetown admitted students site. Hoping for a letter in the mail soon to confirm my suspiciion. :-) Also got a Rothman invitation from USC in the mail today. Have yet to be accepted, but hoping this is a good sign.
12/07/10: Accepted to Saint Thomas via snail mail. Full scholly to boot as long as I stay in good academic standing.
12/8/10: Scholarship info at Iowa. Full out of state tuition for first year, and second & third years given that I work as a TA/RA for approximately 10 hrs per week, with small earnings. Total value estimated 128k.
12/14: accepted to UGA via status checker.
12/15: Accepted to Vandy via huge Fedex package, had seen on 12/13 on my status checker that a decision was mailed.
12/20/10: Waitlisted at UPenn. Must respond by 1/17 to express my continued interest. Not sure I will, though, as I'd rather be at Michigan and odds of getting significant money at this point are extremely slim.... Bummer.
12/23: Accepted via letter to Indiana Bloomington, with full out of state tuition for all three years (approximately 128,200 IF tuition stays stagnant), as long as I stay in good academic standing.
12/28/10: Received scholarship information from Michigan. 15k/year, granted I stay in good academic standing.
01/03/11: Accepted via small letter to Colorado.
01/07/11: Accepted to Northwestern via email.
01/10/11: Big day. First got held at Harvard. Exciting! (Anything but a flat out rejection is great!). Accepted to USC via mailing (was on vacation, so I got the mailing/emails later). Also accepted to the University of Chicago via phone call in the afternoon. Best way to start out a vay-cay! :-) Also mailed off the Rothman Scholars Application for USC. We'll see how that works out.
01/17/11: UPenn Waitlist response deadline passed and I didn't respond. With the acceptance to Chicago, I just couldn't see myself going to Penn. Good luck to those still on the list!
01/20/11: Accepted to Notre Dame via email (I got the scholarship letter with 20k/year after returning from vacation later).
01/21/11: The rejections had to start somewhere. UVA. No surprise there as I am OOS and not bringing up their numbers...
01/24/11: Call from Dean Schwartz at UCLA. IN! Also mentioned money for attending an open house? will follow up on that as a cheap trip to LA would be awesome.
01/26/11: Email from Berkeley. Being sent on to Faculty review and will have a decision by 2/18/11. Kewl.
01/28/11: Picked up my wad of mail at the Post Office0. Tiny rejection letter from Stanford. No shocker there.
02/02/11: Held via email from Columbia. Really surprised I wasn't just flat out rejected. Yay.
2/04/11: After months of no updates from Duke, I was admitted to the JD/LLM program.
2/07/11: Heard back from Alabama regarding my scholarship. I was awarded the Dean's scholarship which covers full out of state tuition, 2k/year stipend (increased to 4k/yr if I gain AL residency), and a mentorship with the dean. Also admitted to the University of Washington via snail mail (Decision Letter Sent on status checker as of 2/1/11). Submitted Duke Scholarship application. Received Scholar in Law Scholarship from WUSTL today via email in the amount of 43k/year (129 total). No GPA/class placement strings attached.
2/17/11: Rejection letter via snail mail from Yale. Rejected during CR1 from Berkeley via email. That one stings, but it makes my decision less complicated.
2/18/11: Email containing UChicago's financial package for me - $0 in scholarships! 100% loans! This pretty much seals the deal for me - no Chicago.
2/23/11: Email from UCLA - scholarship offer of $67,500 [I wasn't initially offered a scholarship with my acceptance phone call, so I emailed Dean Schwartz competing scholarships who then forwarded them on to the financial aid commitee].
3/11/11: Scholarship info from Duke came in the mail. 54k off the JD, 3k off the dual degree program I was accepted to.
3/18/11: I submitted a request for an increase in merit-aid at the University of Michigan based off of the greater aid I got at Duke. As expected, this request was denied, but I figured it had to be worth a shot!
3/21/11: U of Georgia increased my scholarship by $2,500 per year, something I did not ask them to do.
3/27/11: Time to start withdrawing applications. Withdrew from: WUSTL, Notre Dame, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, William & Mary, Georgia, Alabama, St. Thomas, Washington, Vanderbilt, Colorado and Duke. The last one was a bit tough to do, but it just won't work with my S.O.'s job. Again, another thing pointing towards Michigan. :-)

SCHOOL VISIT TIMELINE:
February 2010: Visited WIlliam Mitchell in St. Paul.
October 2010: Visited UMN, St. Thomas and attended a Law School Fair at the UMN.
January 2011: While on vacation I visited a few schools in the 20-40 range. Self tour of UIUC, and U Iowa. Also got a marvelous tour/interview session at Alabama. They are incredibly accomodating! Very impressed!
February 15-17, 2011: Drove down to Chicago to check out Hyde Park. Really impressed with the facilities/student body at UChicago, but I just wasn't feeling the vibe of Hyde Park. Then drove on to Ann Arbor to check out UMich. LOVED the campus, Ann Arbor, the law school. So glad I visited both, as this is making my decision a LOT easier.
3/8/11: drove off again to Ann Arbor to check out the housing scene. Falling even more in love with A2 :-D

With the score you've got, you should be in a pretty good position yourself. I'm putting in the hours for the LSAT, now I've just got to keep my fingers crossed. What schools are you aiming for?

Congrats on your amazing cycle so far, plus you still have a few to hear from. You have soooo many acceptances -- I don't think I have ever seen that many on one profile, lol. Can't wait to see where you end up?
