I wish you the best on getting into Texas Tech. If I am accepted before Jan 8th I will attend their and lose my deposit money to South Texas. The employed at graduation rate for Texas Tech is higher than the employed nine months later for a lot of law schools. Lubbock can't be that bad of a place to live?
or just for LSN?
Mine also said "active consideration" It is really my first choice, my friend is beginning a medical residency there this fall and we wanted to be in the same city. Realistically, I would probably withdraw my app at Tech if I got into Texas... I spoke with Donna at the TECH admissions office, and she said it is a active consid. is a positive response and that they didn't "accept" a lot of people right off the bat. GL!
thanks for the kind words. Basically, I read the logic games bible and practiced like crazy on games. Went from -12 to -5 on those. Also was much less stressed and more calm on "game day." Good luck to you.
Thanks. I think you have a really good chance because SMU04 has similar numbers to yours and got in. Do you have a profile on LSD? Good luck! I hope they start letting more people know pretty soon.
Thanks for your comment, I really would like to go there. I love the state of Texas. Good luck to you, I'm surprised they waitlisted you, whats up with that!?!
I am waiting to hear about scholarships from USD and SMU - I'm deciding between those two, Baylor, and UT. Good luck with Texas Tech, I really hope you get in!
Because they sat on my application for 3 months before telling me that they didn't get my check or waiver. That nullified the advantage of applying early. I had already been accepted at Creighton which I felt equally about, and now St Louis which I think is a little better school. HTH
I see you have an interview w/ Tech on friday. I'm going to visit there this week :) I'm crossing my fingers for you!
I hope your interview helps your status at Tech!! I got a call from a 2L there today. I can't decide what to do!
I'm going to wait and see how I feel about Mercer. If I decide i like it enough to go there and not consider other schools I won't visit Tech. If not, I'm gonna try and get the money to visit, it's just hard because I'm so far away.
Yeah it's really far, but I would like to get away from PA. I'm tired of getting 5 feet of snow every year, so I'm aiming for somewhere warm.
It looks like they are starting to let people know... GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Thanks for the comment. Just got my Tech acceptance. GL with yours! I think that Tech really is a diamond in the rough. I interviewed on 20 FEB and spent the preceding wknd there. What a nice surprise of a city. The people are great, and apparently the placement for jobs in Dallas and Austin afterwards is fantastic. As of now, I'll go there and pay the seat deposits to hold it unless I get Texas (unlikely miracle). I am lucky that I can waiver my tuition and fees at TX public schools as a resident military Veteran.
Good luck with Tech! From one hardcore Republican to another! :-)
Your question is actually a great question since my rankings are from a few months ago. I wanted to go to UH so badly, but they just recently rejected me. I was considering Tech as my top consideration, but I noticed that LSU is ranked fairly high in some of the public rankings. I also hear that they have a huge alumni base in Houston, so that helps since it is my hometown. I will be attending the LSU accepted students visiting day this Friday. By touring the campus and speaking to students and alumni, I will probably know my situation my the end of the week. Good luck with getting into Tech. I really don't think you should have a problem.
To be honest with you, it made my choice even harder! LSU has a beautiful campus, and their new portion of their law center is state of the art. The staff is very friendly, as opposed to arrogant like other schools. They are a 2nd tier school, so that helps too. The only negative there is that you have to graduate with 96 hours, as opposed to 80-86 hours. The degree you receive is a JD/BCL which is the degree in which you could practice the civil law of Louisiana or the common law of the 49 other states. They also have heavy recruitment to the Houston area, which is where I 'm from. The top firms always recruit from LSU every year. Overall, Baton Rouge is a very livable city with culture (size is similar to Austin). I will be visiting Texas Tech in Lubbock in about two weeks. I hope it isn't too bad there.
No, I've never been to West Texas. TTU is the only law school on Texas that I haven't visited thus far. If I were you, I would talk to Dean Cook, to see if you could participate in the accepted students day, even before you are accepted. BTW, I was wondering why you only applied to two schools? Since you are in Dallas, why not SMU or Texas Wesleyan? Why not other Texas law schools? Why only Regent and Texas Tech?
I haven't heard a thing from them yet. I sent an email to find out what is going on...should here back from them soon.
Good Luck with your apps! I thought I was the only Anthro Major on this website :(
on Regents! I know that you're waiting for the Tech letter, so hang in there! You should contact them to check your status. I'm still waiting on SMU. If I get in there, I will gladly withdraw my app to Tech.
Even though the rejections have lett me down, I won't let it bother me that much because they were all top notch schools. LSU and Tech are still great schools, but I wouldn't call Texas Wesleyan all that. Nonetheless, I'm still pulling for SMU. I trulyh believe that you have nothing to worry about with getting into Tech. Your chances of getting into Tech are far better than mine at SMU.
Thanks for the comment. U of H is my top choice right now, but I'm still crossing my fingers for a UT acceptance. Good Luck with Tech, they'll come to their senses soon ;)!!
Im not sure about Texas Tech, Im narrowing down my choices to Ole Miss, LSU, Mercer...then Texas Tech...If I get into SMU or American im going. Good luck to you, sounds like your in once people drop out after April 1 -Bart
I have decided to withdraw from tech today, I wish i could physically give you my spot. But best of luck, i'm confident that tech will be accepting you soon!!
I did go to the Accepted Students Day. Lubbock isn't as bad of a city as I thought. It has everything you need, you just have to look for it. The people there are very nice and traffic doesn't seem to be a problem. As for the law school, it seems like a small, regional law school. The admissions counselors were the drivers of our shuttle. It seems like a very hospitable school. Just one thing seems to annoy me and that was the actual law school building. It's a small old brick building and I don't know if it was just me, but it smelled like mold when I entered. They said they would break ground on a new portion of the school starting this month which would include an auditorium and new courtroom. Overall, I'm still waiting on SMU. Even if I don't get in, I'll probably wait to make a decision when all my decsions come in at the end of the month. Keep your chin up! One of my friends just got accepted to Tech after being on the waitlist. He had similar credentials as you. Your probably next in line.
Are you going to stick it out on Texas Tech or fall back on Regent? I'm also in the same predicament: accepted at Regent, waitlisted at my only other school of choice. I'll probably give them till May before ruling them out completely.
Anything new with the Tech situation? I'm still wishing you the best! GL!
Well, I would call Donna or preferably whoever it was you interviewed with and reaffirm your desire to attend law school there in the fall. GL, keep me posted.
hey :) just wanted to say yay! g-dubs. congrats at regents, i live close by and i think you will love the atmosphere. good luck with texas though too. Im pulling for ya :)
"4/19/06......STILL WAITING. Is this normal?" really, really, really sucks.
I interviewed with J. Wesley Cochran. The interview was mostly just talking about the law school. He didn't ask much about me. He was very vague, and didn't mention anything about the process like when WL'ers would hear back. The whole thing lasted about 30 minutes.
Thank you for the big congrats, but I think I am going to go to Akron. SLU didn't offer me any monies. :(
Don't give up. We'll see you in Lubbock come August.
I've got to be honest - if I don't find something to keep myself occupied, I'm going to go crazy waiting to hear and looking for info. Gaaaaahhhh
Hang in there. I'm still prayin for you.
No I applied to a couple other law schools but I was lazy to list them. I was accepted about a month ago and placed my deposit about 3 weeks ago.
Hey, hang in there. I think that we're all still praying for you!
Don't worry! We are (still praying for you)! ;-)
I just wanted to echo the sentiments of the others in the "group." I check almost everyday to see if there has been a decision. We'll see you in August. :)
way to go. have fun in lubbock.
CONGRATULATIONS!! I knew you could do it!!!! I'll see you in August!
Funny...you get in the same day as that texaschic chick on LSD...
Congrats!!!! Now you need a facebook profile when you get your email address. :)
See you in August!!!! Tech finally got their act together!
Good luck with law school.
I told you you had nothing to worry about!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, nice job Amber! I'll see you in August. Feel free to write me this summer. God Bless.
Do you plan to apply to any other law schools?
