Additional info & updates

1.10.09-- sent all my applications on January 5th. Still have to make sure two dean's certifications get in, and I mailed in other certification letters myself for those schools that don't have the electronic certification option. Now I need to work on all this financial aid business.

Overall, I am very happy with my list of schools-- I would happily go to any school that I applied to which is what I made sure of before I applied. I didn't want to waste my time or money applying to schools I have no intention of going to. I asked myself the same question about every school: "if this is the only place I got in, would I be ok going there?" and made sure the answer was YES.

2.4.09-- Ok, so all but 3 of my applications are complete (2 of them are waiting specifically on Dean's Certifications which my undergrad college put in the mail yesterday). I'm still just pretty much waiting. I got waitlisted right away at Drexel. I sent back the letter indicating my interest in staying on the waitlist as soon as I got it in the mail. I'm THINKING I'll start hearing from most schools come March.. so I guess it's just another couple weeks of waiting. I'm really hoping I get into at least one school before my mailbox gets flooded with rejections. Ugh. I'm starting to get paranoid that my whole list of schools is WRONG and I'm not going to get in anywhere...

2.5.09-- Ok so after my mini-nervous rampage yesterday, I got into Hofstra today! With a $30,000/yr academic scholarship!! So amazing. I'm glad I know I will be going somewhere! Also got deferred from Rutgers. Kind of a little bummer, but at least it's not a rejection. So just more waiting. DEFINATELY very excited about Hofstra though!

2.11.09-- Another good day-- came home from work to find an acceptance packet from Syracuse on my doorstep! They also offered me a $26,000/yr honor's scholarship renewable for all 3 years. I will definitely have to plan a visit up there.

2.19.09-- Got my first rejection (American). Actually not that bummed, wasn't really wild about the school. I only applied because it was in DC. I got waitlisted at Northeastern. Surprised by that-- I kind of thought I would just get a rejection. Today was good-- got into Seton Hall and Suffolk. Seton Hall is tempting because I can live at home. So as of today I have 4 acceptances and I still have a BUNCH more to hear from. Getting very excited to be able to make the decision!! I just wish I knew NOW what the final list of schools I'm accepted to will be so I can start making decisions.

4.10.09-- Ok, it has been a while. I was avoiding this out of sheer confusion as to what to do. I visited Seton Hall, Hofstra, and Syracuse and made my "decision" (I say that because I was deferred from Rutgers and I am still holding onto that, for in-state tuition's sake)-- but I sent in my confirmation & deposit to Seton Hall yesterday! I had an amazing visit there. I loved the environment, the vibe-- the facility is AMAZING. There are a lot of opportunities to be had. And even with the scholarship money from other schools, going to school in Newark allows me to live at home and save that huge expense. And the schools that waitlisted me, I didn't even really consider. I'm pretty sure I want to stay in the NYC/NJ area, so going to school here makes sense. Besides, I hate the idea of having to wait til July to know where I'm going! I'm really excited :) I hope everyone else's cycles are going well--- good luck to those of you holding out for a waitlist! (Ugh, I feel your pain!)

many months later... So I completely never updated this- I got into Rutgers-Newark in mid-July and switched from Seton Hall to Rutgers. The cost, diversity, and focus on public interest work made the decision for me. I'm in the middle of my finals for my first semester and law school is INSANE. The most work i have ever done in my life. I have learned more in my 3 months of law school than I would have thought possible. Law school is really hard, so pick the environment right for you. Every little bit of comfort helps. Rutgers is def the best place for me. Good luck to all of you people going through the process now! And enjoy your time before school starts.

I am glad you enjoyed it good luck with everything pretty nice list of schools. I think it is probably better apply to ones you would realistically go to instead of wasting the 12 bucks like I did on places you have no desire to go. Still it feels good to get accepted every once in awhile.

You don't say? I did the large public school thing too (in the flatlands though haha) and was active in my fraternity. Good luck with your schools! I'm a little behind the times here, still trying to get my applications out. Best of luck on your applications!

Congrats on Hofstra! That scholarship must be looking really nice. We've got similar numbers and schools and I'm hoping to get some cash from hofstra too!

Hello-- I have a question, if you don't mind. Did you get offered $$ for Syracuse in your regular acceptance packet? Or did it come a little later? There wasn't anything about money in mine, and if it's not coming they're out of the running! Thanks

Congrats/GL

Congrats on your acceptances and good luck with the remaining schools. We got a lot of the same responses including maryland, AU, hofstra & seton.

hey congrats on your acceptances - we're in a similar boat. what school are you leaning towards?

that's wonderful! as of right now, Seton Hall it is! I loved the school and absolutely hated Pace when I visited. Unless I hear from Cardozo or Brooklyn pulls through, I'll happily be there this August. ANy final decisions on your part?

I am glad you get off Rutgers' waitlist. Are you attending Rutgers or Seton? I am accepted to Seton but also waitlist Rutgers. Did Rutgers call you or email you when the spot is available?
