Continued paranoia is making me apply to more and more schools. Eeee!

11-13-07---> it would seem that I am delusional and paranoid, because proving my predictions wrong, YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAA I GOT INTO LAW SCHOOL. Dare I hope for money too?
11-28-07---> Called the roomie, had her open my mail, apparently I got into U St. Thomas with 10k a year, and pacific mcgeorge sent me a letter telling me to be patient with application processing. Yeah. Thanks.
12-15-07---> got into NIU! Apparently the decision was made 12-07-07, but the mail is slower then hell? whatevs, at least now I know I might not be banished from my home state
01-02-08---> I think, THINK that I may be in at Pacific McGeorge, because I recieved a letter saying I'm getting a deans scholarship of 12k per year and books covered for the first year. yet, the kicker is, I have no letter of admissions. So i'm not going to confirm admissions into Pacific til I'm sure, and i'll be sure when I call them tomorrow. So until then, a teeny WHOOOOOHOOO!
1-04-08---> Came home, looked at my McGeorge letter- it's for sure, I'm in baby yeah!
1-08-08---> Rejected from my alma mater, big suprise
2-1-08---> After waiting a month and a half to finally recieve my decision from Depaul, I hear back. Waitlist. A big, bad GO TO HELL to them. But, on a bit of sunlight in the crap sandwich that is my day, I got accepted to Case Western and University of San Francisco!
2-21-08----> I got into UOregon, which is totally awesome. But apparently even though I was the first batch of admissions, no money? LAME-O. Still sounds like a really tempting school, if anyone knows more about it, give me a heads up!
3-05-08---> As soon as I had more or less convinced myself that I wanted to go to UOregon, Case Western steps out with a nice little scholarship. TRICKSTERY, I say!
4-03-08----> Notification via email of acceptance to Chicago Kent!!! If it's the full time program and not the part time, sayonara Cleveland!
4-04-08---> Sadly, my admission to chicago kent is part time evening program. I LOVE chicago, but i just don't know that it's worth it, regardless of all t he good I hear about Kent. Any input, anyone?
4-11-08---> I'm going to go to Chicago Kent. I considered between Kent and Case for a while, but it's real easy to switch into full time at Kent after a year, and I want to work in the Chicago market after law school; going to Cleveland for law school thus wouldn't make sense, since I've been accepted into a good one in Chicago. So that's that.

Best of luck to everyone else in this miserable process we call law school admissions.

Hey we have similar numbers and are applying to some of the same schools! Just wanted to say good luck this cycle!

I want to do Health Law, so Loyola Chicago is probably my top choice. Did you write one of the optional essays for them?

.
Monday, April 16 2007 at 08:00 PM

So what's your top choice? You picked a lot of good schools.

Good luck

...I am in Afghanistan and have applied to all the schools from here - not to mention that I took my lsat over here. I guess most schools are patriotic at least to an extent!

Thanks! I'm sure you'll be getting your acceptance any day now!

No, not sure why I got deferred. My letter encouraged me to apply for the evening division though, which I found interesting.

hey there. Congrats on the acceptances. I just got into U of Pacfic this week. Feels great to be in at a Cali school (from one Illinoi-an person to another). What is your top choice?

no idea either
Sunday, October 28 2007 at 08:00 PM

I also have no clue where I want to go/ will be going. As far as U of Pac goes They are 'reviewing' my file for possible scholarship $$. But I did get the little legal scholar thing they put in the folder so we'll have to see.

I almost forgot to ask. How/when did U of Pac notify you of your scholarship? Did it take a while after the admission? Did you apply for a certain scholarship?

It's a Letter of Continued Interest. It basically just shows that you're still very interested in the school, even though you've been waitlisted. I think people who submit them have a higher chance of getting in off the waitlist. Yeah, I'm kind of worried that I didn't play the admissions cycle well since I got into all of these places with scholarships (lol, I know, poor me). But I feel like I should have aimed a little higher, and maybe rode a waitlist into a higher ranked school. Oh well, I'm really happy with my choices right now, and it looks like you have some really good ones too. Congrats!

Not sure..

I'm not sure which is my #1 right now, but I am incredibly excited about the UO acceptance. Making decisions is gonna be tough... Congrats to you, too -- we were the first two UO accepts on LSN this year -- woo!

Congrats!

Good job on getting into Oregon. Looks like you're one of the first to hear from them. We have similar scores, so I'm hoping for the same result.

UO
Tuesday, November 27 2007 at 07:00 PM

UO is notorious for not giving very much money. I have a friend who went and a friend who is going to UO right now. They both love the school. If you're interested in enviro law, UO has some great options. Also, there's a new federal courthouse in Eugene right near the law school, which also offers some great opportunities. Eugene definitely doesn't have a big-city feel. It's a college town/liberal mecca through and through. There's a thread with random discussion about PNW schools on LSD right now -- you should check it out: <a href="http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org/prelaw/index.php/topic,100942.0.html" title="http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org/prelaw/index.php/topic,100942.0.html" class="data">http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org/prelaw/index.php/topic,100942.0.html</a>

I'm not sure about UO & business/international law. You might ask questions about it on that LSD link I posted... From what I hear, UO is a hell of a deal financially compared to other schools. I mean, out of state tuition is barely more than in state. As far as location goes, you can't beat Oregon for natural beauty and livability. Also, I lived in Eugene for 5 years, and I always liked the feel of the town. Very laid back. AWESOME for biking. Great parks. Close to a lot of outdoor recreation opportunities... Are you planning on going to one of the admitted students days?

Congrats
Monday, October 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

on Oregon! You are going to have a tough choice!

ASD's
Tuesday, November 27 2007 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, I'm planning on hitting L&C's and UO's ASDs in March - they're on the same weekend, different days, and it coincides with my spring break. Part of me thinks it might be better to go view a school on a day other than ASD, because you get a chance to see the school when they're not busy trying to put their best foot forward...

Oregon

Your numbers give me hope.

Sunday, February 03 2008 at 07:00 PM

Yes, Oregon is my first choice. Though I was waitlisted, so if you want to withdraw that would be awesome. ;) I sent my letter of continued interest priority mail the same day I recieved the waitlist letter.

on almost being done with the cycle! Isn't it hard to believe that this is almost over?! Where are you leaning, as of now?

Kent
Friday, February 02 2007 at 07:00 PM

Part-time evening. I know it is very easy to transfer to the day division early on! I didn't do anything to bolster my application, as Wisconsin was my 1st choice! I toured all of the Chicago schools and went to Loyola for grad. school, and was most impressed by Kent!! Good luck.

Kent
Friday, February 02 2007 at 07:00 PM

I have no idea if you can convince them to change it at this point, but I don't think that if you do one semester PT and switch that you are too far behind. I don't know anything about Case Western, but I do think Kent is a good school. I applied to Oregon too and Kent would have taken the priority for me. What type of law are you interested in?

Kent
Monday, April 16 2007 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on being accepted! I've heard a lot of great things about Kent, and I think that it'd be pretty easy to transfer into the full time program. In the long run, if you want to work in Chicago, Kent would definitely be the best choice for you. Good luck making a decision!

Congrats on making your choice - what a huge relief! Enjoy Chicago and good luck.

thanks!

Thanks for the kindness! Kent is also a great school. I have a friend who goes there now and absolutely loves it. Congrats on both the final choice and a killer cycle. Good luck!
