I basically want to practice from the rural area in which I live. All that requires is that I pass the bar.
Hope you give University of Bufalo Law a close look. Other than Case Western, UB is the highest rated law school on your list. I'm a first year student there and all my profs are Ivy League Law School grads. My Criminal Law Prof (Yale Law grad) wrote our textbook !
Good luck!!
Good luck!!
Thanks for your note. My 1 L experience was a journey. All "First Years" as they are called at UB take a course together for a week prior to the rest of the law school arriving for the start of the fall term. My Torts, Criminal Law, and Property Courses are all about 70-80 students but taught by top Ivy League Law grads. My Criminal Law Prof, together with two Stanford Law Profs, wrote the text for that course. My Legal Writing and Reasoning Course was about 20 students and VERY INTENSIVE. That course continues next semester with an emphasis on legal argument and where the capstone activity is writing an brief to the Appeals Court ! And in January there is the three week Bridge Term that is unique to UB. First years use this period to work intensively with the law librarians and become proficient in both Westlaw and Lexis.
Congratulations on your awesome score improvement ... I'm sure that is going to spur your cycle along. Good luck!
Its in a great part of town on Huntington near the fens AND You should apply to more reaches. Temple for instance you could definitely get into, and you can get instate tuition after first year.
I heard via snail mail last week. Sounds good!
you've still got a much higher GPA. It seems like you don't have many reaches though, is that because you have your heart set on NY schools? I've visited Albany a couple years ago and it's beautiful, I'd choose either Albany or UB because UB is a bargain. Have you thought about Northeastern in Boston? I think you'd be competitive there. I see you've applied to UPacific too, I have a fee waiver from them but I don't know if I want to apply, what's the draw?
I'm hoping for UC Hastings. What did you do differently on the recent test? I'm thinking of retaking the test if i get rejected from all the schools...any advice..
Hey good luck to you as well. just curious are you submitting an addendum explaining your 9 point jump? Im still on the fence as to submit on or not with my apps.
3.25 to keep the scholarship and I believe their curve is at 3.25 as well... sorta scary
I'm actually not sure which one - I've never been to PA, so I'm going to have to check each one out. Any recs?
Suffolk=2.7 :((((
hey thanks re rutgers. good luck with your apps! and congrats on such a huge point increase!!
Thanks for the congrats. The Hofstra Scholarship is the total for three years. Good luck to you as well!
what's your top choice? i can't help but feel a little torn that i applied early decision to case, now i have to withdraw my other applications and i'll never know if i would've gotten in. boohoo i know, ha. i'm sure you'll do great, you have sweet numbers!
for the congrats. i think i'd like to be in LA or NY so my top choices are pepperdine/loyola or cardozo (super reach)/brooklyn. good luck with everything!
Short...they thanked me for my early application and promised me a quick response....months ago. I work with a columbia law grad who was saying that st johns is way better then NEU tho, so Im very torn
thanks...i'm pretty much set on Wisco. i love Madison and I have family there. how bout u? i'd be willing to be you're in at Sconnie...hope to see you there next fall!
congrats to you as well! Did you not get money from Pacific? With your numbers, i'd expect them to throw things your way! Anywho, i have NO idea where i'm going to head out to. How about you?
Thanks for the congrats! My top choice is probably GW or Uconn. Im from CT so in-state tuition would be cheap! Also, being from CT, you won't need to learn polo or any other uppety sport, most of CT is not like that, haha. Congrats on your many acceptances! Looks like you are going to have some tough choices! Whats your top choice?
Well, they send it to you in a follow up letter.. it was funny, cause for me the scholarhship letter came beofre the admissions letter. Anyways, good luck! I'm sure you'll get lots of moolah!
Congrats on those early acceptances and scholarships! Excluding all other choices, would you take Pacific over your offer at Cal Western? I'm in a similar position and trying to decide.
Schools love to give you money. Thats awesome! I'm close to your #'s and have applied to a sheesh load of schools too. Anywho's, GL!!
I grew up and went to college in SD and I should warn that Cal Western isn't well respected among the non-legal community. But I've been told it's well known for supplying the local area with well trained lawyers. CW has been on an upward trend for at least a decade and has good potential. However, everyone I've asked has said to take UoP over CW (even w/ scholarship).
looks like your having a great cycle.
...nice job man, you're cleaning house so far!!!! And so much money to boot! I wish you the best with the rest of your apps! I wouldn't consider WISCO a reach for you either. Keep me informed and not all of us from CT play polo...haha! PS: Quinnipiac is a great school - very well known in CT and has a great reputation for placement in the CT/RI area but not much reach beyond the NE region. KEEP THE ACCEPTANCES ROLLING IN!!!
Haha...it is definitely nice to have an array of acceptances from which to choose! I don't know a TON about Quinnipiac I just know that I have talked to many people in the CT area regarding the school and they say that it holds a decent amount of weight and is a very reputable school. I think if you finish in the top 5% you have a shot at BigLaw and in the top 25-30% you have a good chance of getting a very high paying job in the CT/RI area depending on what it is that you are interested in pursuing. I am not a Yanks fan at all and there is no way the Pats fall into that catagory. I have been rooting for the Pats since Pat the Patriot was their mascot and they couldn't buy a win in any game! We have done our share of suffering with both the Pats and the Red Sox and now is the time of glory! You have to admire what both teams have done as of late and I think they will prove to be the best team in the nation in tonights big game! I wish you the absolute best of luck with the rest of your cycle and if you end up choosing Quinnipiac I will most likely be right up at UCONN so we will have to meet up and pity ourselves for our decision to deal with law school! Keep in touch and BEST OF LUCK!!!! -Drew
Thanks! i'm sure your acceptance will come from case any day now
I just saw your comment about the Pacific scholarship letter - sorry for not responding sooner. You must have gotten it by now - congrats on that and all of your acceptances! I'm looking forward to visiting Pacific as a legal scholar - should be fun! Good luck with the other apps!
On an AMAZING cycle thus far! I'm sure there's only more good news to come.
on getting into Case today! We applied to some of the same schools...have you visited any of them yet? Best of luck on the rest of your cycle!
I think we might go to the same college, haha. Starts with a B? What's your first choice?
Congratulations on your acceptances as well. I am considering attending one of the visitation days at Pacific. I like what I see from the packet of information, but there is nothing like experiencing a place in person.
Your cycle's looking pretty good as well. I haven't been to the x-tra curr. activities lately, so you won't see me there. I work at the library, pretty late hours though.
Congrats on Loyola Chi!
If I were you and from where your from, id be pretty happy with Loyola and Case...Congrats! I hear cleveland is pretty, but not as fun as chicago.
id love to think about NEU but I just want a Suffolk acceptance at this point. The numbers are with me but I grow nervous...
congrats on case, that is so great! i actually heard initially via email about my acceptance and they let me know about the scholarship then too... but that might be different for regular decision applicants... i think i read somewhere on their website that they make all of their scholarship announcements by march 31st so unfortunately it might be a while til you find out. as for asd's i'm not sure they designate specific days but i did get an email saying something about a housing open house sometime in june so that's when i'm planning to visit. good luck with the rest of your schools!
Hello Again, Want to make a few key points about UB Law" --No curve in any of the classes...that means folks help one another, share outlines with one another, celebrate one another's successes ! --After the first year there is ONLY ONE REQUIRED COURSE....THIS MEANS THAT YOU CRAFT YOUR LAW PROGRAM ! --Latest national study shows that UB is in the VERY TOP TIER when it comes to percentage of students employed at graduation ! --And yes, Buffalo gets cold...but where else could you engage in WORLD CLASS SNOWBALL FIGHTS... Case is a great school, but Pacific almost didn't make Tier 2 this year...was rated 100th ! All the best !
Good job with getting accepted to all those schools. Did CUNY send you a letter saying you completed your application? Thanks
Thanks for your note.. To be honest, there isn't a lot of time to enjoy much weather during your first year in law school. It's a whole lotta IPSO and a good amount of FACTO ! Right now we're in the throws of writing an appeals brief as well as developing oral arguments for same.. Hope to see you here though !
with the decision from Wisco - I hope it's great news. (and of course, I hope you get good news from NEU soon!) Feel better!
yeah, it sucks about american. how do you feel about st. john's? no scholarship for you? i was hoping for one, but we have similar numbers, so maybe not. and i also think it's weird that i seem to be the only person they called. are you staying on at american?
Hey, thanks so the congrats. You are doing amazingly well this cycle as well! Any school that you prefer over another? Community organizing has been an interesting experience. For the past six months, I have been organizing around economic justice issues(i.e., promoting and educating the public about policies and programs that they can access to improve their financial stability) here in Colorado. It job has its ups and downs. For one thing, we dont always looks to the community to set the direction of our campaigns--which is really horrible. Also, alot of community based organizations battle over turf and resources. It seems that we are all fighting for the same limited grant money and media coverage, this can sometimes lead to groups promoting their agenda over another organization's mission. This is also unfortunate. The best part of the experience for me has been the opportunity to build community leaders. I have met with many people who these campaigns affect and been able to connect them to different opportunities for them to become involved or even just more knowledge about the issue. However, many of my coworkers do not approach the work in the same fashion. Despite these differences, the communities are always exicted and glad that we are doing work on their behalf. what type of community organizing are you looking to get into?
i understand what you're saying about st. john's. it is a flooded market. but i feel the same problem sort of exists at loyola, you still have kids ahead of you for jobs from UChicago, Northwestern, and Chicago Kent, not to mention kids from across the nation who just want to live in Chicago. i guess st. john's is my top choice now given it's ranking...but i'm staying on american's waitlist. i see quinnipiac gave you a big scholarship too. they're paying for me to come to conn. and interview for a full ride, which would be tough to pass up. any chance you'll be heading there for that as well in early april?
yeah, but chicago would be nice. i have a cousin who went to michigan state though and he got a pretty good job in chicago, so it is possible. i'm from ohio and case is a great school. it's not in the nicest neighborhood, but the campus itself is fairly isolated from everything else. and i'm not sure about how i got the quinnipiac offer. you had to apply to quinn before jan. 15th and indicate your professional carreer plans. i study theorhetical conceptions of justice as an undergrad and i wrote my personal statement about applying those concepts to first amendment interpretations, which is obviously academic. then they just contacted me. you should consider getting in touch with them, as they pay for the flight, hotel, and all other expenses. so at the very least, you get a free trip to check out what is supposed to be a nice campus. it's called the dean's fellowship scholarship or something
on the Case Scholarship!
hey there. still not sure about top choices since i haven't heard back from 3 important ones (Brooklyn, Cardozo, and Loyola LA). The Case scholarship is tempting, but I have a feeling I will be making a last minute decision. Congrats on all your acceptances. That is really exciting!
great about the scholarship! let me know how your campus visit goes. i hear from a current student at case that the best place to live is in cleveland heights (if you have a car). if you don't, there's an apt building called "the triangle" that is about a 5 min walk from the law school bldg. i guess the neighborhood of little italy is also really close to the school, with some sections in walking distance. good luck w/ your other schools but i hope to see you at case : )
i'm surprised that w/ your background NEU hasn't snapped you up! but i hear they had a butt load of applicants this year.
Hey!! Congrats on Case as well. Let me know how you like it. I'm excited to go for their ASW, especially to get to meet other admitted/attending students. I'm still waiting on a couple other schools, but I am fairly certain that I will be at Case this fall. Hope to see you there!
Hey! I saw that you wrote on paranoid's wall about how we are all going to Case this fall!!! If you want to, you should email me and we can get a facebook group going and chat about school and Cleveland!!
Search for Case Law Class of 2011!
Thanks! Well, since Penn rejected me, I guess UVA bc it's the highest ranking and is in a beautiful area, not far from my U-grad (W&L). If you mean of the ones I have a chance of getting accepted, then I guess Maryland. I'm interested in enviro law and don't want to get into too much debt and like B'more. I'd feel more love for my in-state Rutgers if they offered me money, but unfortunately four years of bustin my butt at a top school for almost all A's doesn't mean anything to them! Do you have a top choice?
Same to you! That's funny...I was just looking at your lsn the other day thinking the same thing, except that you have like a million more acceptances than me, lol. Plus, our numbers will be even more similar once my fall grades are processed through LSAC. I'm really leaning towards UF right now. How about you--what's your #1? I basically have a week to decide my future, since Case wants a deposit sent in by then. I'm not 100% sold on the school yet, and I don't really have the cash to send in deposits to a bunch of schools and just prolong the decision, especially when I'd probably pick Florida over Case anyways. I don't know, though...I'm so torn. I need some guidance.
I wasn't really looking for your advice when I said that...it was more of a general statement of "wow, I feel really lost in this whole process" kind of thing, but thanks nonetheless :) I think it's mean how schools are expecting payment already when schools haven't even given out all of their decisions yet...I guess there's a decent reason for it, but it almost requires you to be pessimistic about your chances at the remaining schools. Oh well, hopefully we both make the right choice...Are you submitting the first choice deposit to Case then?
Congratulations on Case, too! I'm a native Clevelander so if you have any questions I'd be happy to try and help. Take care and see you in August!
on making your choice! I'm excited for you. What a huge relief to finally end the cycle! Good luck at Case.
Hey- Congrats on the extra cash! Such great news for you and sounds like a confirmation of a great choice!
Hey! Congrats on making a decision. I hope you enjoy your time at Case, I visited and the law school/campus is GORGEOUS
I'm so very much ready for graduation. Can't wait! Congrats on your decision.
Hey. No I will not be taking the LSAT again. For what I want to do with my degree it doesn't really matter what school I go to. Also, no I will not be applying to the other schools indicated: five-hundred in application processing fees is enough lol. Well, anyway, goodluck on your retake. Keep me posted on your applications.
