Additional info & updates

Marquette finally rejected me on 08/26/10 via snail mail. Really brutal to be on a waitlist that long. I've learned my lesson though.

Congratulations on getting into law school! Those first decisions are a mixed bag: You're psyched that you got in somewhere, but now all you want is the rest of those decisions as soon as possible. Hope the rest of your cycle goes the way of Cooley and SIU. You're too good for Tulsa anyways.

good luck

congrats on your acceptance... I understand how you feel as my LSAT score is even lower than your & I too hope that soft factors will help me...good luck on the rest of your schools & now you can breath easier :o)

Thank you!

Hey thank you--I did my undergraduate at USF, and I am in love with San Francisco. I wish you all the best luck on your application cycle and hopefully you will make it out here to the amazing bay area! good luck :)

Congrats!

Congrats on your acceptances thus far and best wishes for many more! You and I have similar scores and I'm relying on my soft factors to account for my low score on the LSAT as well. We've applied to a lot of the same schools, so hopefully we'll be getting good news together! Good luck with your cycle!!

Denied also
Monday, August 10 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hey I was denied at Akron also. My LSAT is lower than yours. I guess their selectivity has gone up quite a bit recently. Good luck to you in your application cycble.

Tulsa
Sunday, October 25 2009 at 08:00 PM

Before you got denied at Tulsa, did they send you a letter saying they received your application and to call them with any questions? If so, how long after you got that letter did you get your decision? I applied to a lot of schools hoping my soft factors will get me in somewhere, so feel free to watch my profile and see whose admitting and whose not! Good luck with the rest of the cycle!

O well, Tulsa isn't the best school anyways and you've got a couple other acceptances under your belt, so congrats on those! Have you decided where your top choices are?

Good Luck

I am happy for you and your acceptances so far. I am waiting on my Dec 2009 score before submitting my apps. I am hoping for a 150. Yes it is in his hands and he will take care of you. I am sure you will get a full scholarship somewhere. I am in the same boat (same age) and predicting to get an LSAT score that is the same. We are applying to some of the same schools, but I am sure you will at least get accepted to your 1st choice school. Keep us posted :)

Tip
Thursday, January 07 2010 at 07:00 PM

Hey,so usually they say don't call and bother he admissions people about your application bc it doesn't really help you, but I hear that if you are waitlisted it pays to call a lot, send addendums describing why your GPA was low, recommendations from employers, and anything else you think might help. They don't know how many people have moved on to other schools so showing interest gives you a boost. Good luck.

God only knows what they are going to do. My fingers hurt because they have been crossed for so long. I think they are just sending it out to everyone as the first deposit date draws close so they can have a better idea of their options. Still, part of me hopes beyond hope that this means some sort of favored position, however I kind of doubt it. Good luck fellow Badger, I really hope we can see each other in class!

Marquette Waitlist
Sunday, December 27 2009 at 07:00 PM

Yes,I got that email.

Marquette
Monday, February 15 2010 at 07:00 PM

Yes, I did get that second confirmation email, and I reconfirmed my continued interest. I also went and visited them, it's a great school. But I am not sure if my visit and meeting with admissions went as spectacular as I was hoping. I am applying for part-time night program, so they said that application deadline is June 1st, so for me it will be a looooooong wait for any decision :( whomp whomp. But, we'll see what happens.

Idea for you
Sunday, December 27 2009 at 07:00 PM

Did you really study for the LSAT or did you just go an take it after a practice test or two? With you being a URM, if you can get your LSAT into the high 150s, low 160s (totally doable with time), you will be getting full rides to some of these schools that are waitlisting/rejecting you. Although not a URM, I am seriously thinking about working for a year and throwing everything I have into the LSAT and aiming for a 170. Just some advice.

Yes, I received an e-mail from Loyola Chicago on being taken off the waitlist. good luck!

Round 2
Tuesday, October 27 2009 at 08:00 PM

Yet another waitlist email.

Marquette
Tuesday, October 27 2009 at 08:00 PM

Well deposits were due June 1st. I am wondering how much movement there is actually going to be on the waitlist. If you take those that have been accepted and decided to attend, and then multiple each one of those cases by at least 15 (this is a self selecting web site) you get a better feel for the best case scenario for spots that could be left. Emphasis on could. This has been a horrid cycle for waitlist candidates, the economy has caused a glut of applications I think.

re: Loyola
Monday, June 01 2009 at 08:00 PM

Sorry about getting back to you late. Yes, they called on the 15th and gave me until the 22nd to decide. I'm probably going withdraw. Hopefully that open seat will go to you. Based on your info though, I think you should be getting into better schools that Loyola. Did you write an addendum talking about B-school and your lsat score?

I'm going to be he annoying eternal optimist. Maybe you don't need to reaffirm because that acceptance packet is all ready in route. It ain't over till it's over!

Marquette
Sunday, April 12 2009 at 08:00 PM

Yes I am still on the waitlist, I called and asked. The reason they did not send a reaffirmation email to me is because I had just sent them a letter of continued interest a few days before. They took that as confirmation that I still wanted to be on the waitlist. I hoping they make some cuts/admits soon. Have you heard anything?

Marquette WL
Tuesday, October 27 2009 at 08:00 PM

Well that's good to hear! Hopefully something will come along...and soon.

Yeah, I've been following that tls thread pretty close. Most of the people that are in want everyone to feel it's a lost cause. Maybe its just the "I'm a special flower" syndrome, ha. I hope the info you received from that adcom is accurate!

Well, looks like the jigs up. It's been a hell of a long and crazy ride. If you're going to WVU have a great time! The Mountaineers are great but don't forget about Bucky!

Plans?
Tuesday, October 27 2009 at 08:00 PM

So are you waiting it out a year, or going to WVU?

MU
Sunday, April 12 2009 at 08:00 PM

I think I am going to wait it out a year. It will give me more time to decide on a school since I have been sitting around hoping for Marquette this whole time. It is all for the best.
