I know it was a minimal move on the lsat but i think he difference between 165 to 166 was extremely significant. Unfortunately i never was able to reach my Pract scores, but thats just how life goes... screw RC

gpa went from 2.74 going into the cycle to 2.86 after the first semester to 2.95 after graduation. Most of the school made their decision based on the 2.86, a few rejected me prior.

I have the lame pre-med story, it took me 3 semesters to realize I was doing terrible and hated it. I have an upward trend, and I think I will add on after this semesters grades are reported.

Not really much going on in the soft department, minor involvement in a few activities and groups, a few jobs during school, but overall not real strong.

I switched the scholarship totals from one year to the full three years so I don't confuse anyone

Additional info & updates

If anyone still reads this, I finished top 7% at IU and transferred to UCLA.

10-2 and the giants are eliminated from the Playoff race this week.

so we are about 6 weeks into classes at IU, I occasionally do check on here, so if any of you still of questions feel free to ask. I know last year i stalked profiles all the time to help ease my mind, so if anyone wants any advice or insight just ask.

So I pretty well have decided on Indiana, I will be moving to bloomington in a couple weeks.

My final stats are 10-6-10.

7-11
and Jonathan freaking Sanchez pitches a no-no tonight, so Im pretty pumped.

but i decided to go with IUB, UF never really got back to me, so I withdrew this afternoon. 60 grand is just too much to pass on.

7-6 and Im now in at IUB. Im waiting on their offer, to make a decision. UF is also reconsidering making me an offer as well.

So I got my offer from IUB, 60,000 over three years, which is pretty good. Still waiting on Florida.

7-1
so baylor has been rather confusing, i figured about two weeks ago i was accepted when i got a letter saying they hoped to see me. Today i recieved the official acceptance and a 20k a year scholarship.

6-25
so nothing new really, I got an email today saying that UF's residency requirements have no become extremely difficult, so that is a bit upsetting.

I got an email about a week ago from Hastings asking about my interest, so hopefully that may work out for me.

6-3
So as of June I am 8-6-12
my gpa started at 2.76 to 2.86 to 2.95 after adding in fall then spring grades. I had a WF which killed my gpa from my original school.

some thoughts on the cycle for those in the next cycle who are as crazy as I was last year reading everyones info and profiled to get an idea of where to apply-

this year was definitely more competitive to us weak splitters. I researched the last couple years quite a bit, and a lot of my "targets" according to last year turned in to WL's. I also saw some of the schools offer a bit let less money ( probably due to the economy affecting their ability to give money). If it was last year I most likely would have been in at atleast half of my targets, and probably out at the school I am planning on attending, so it really is a strange year.

my initial targets were Indiana, Illinois, UMN, W and L, UF, Hastings.
I just sort of threw out apps to Arizona and Wisconsin, and i think the result sort of showed.

Reaches were WUSTL, ND, GW with an extreme reach of GT.

and my safeties were the rest essentially, since its pretty tough to predict a weak splitter cycle.

I expected to get in to more of my targets obviously, though I am happy with UF. It really feels good to get in to that one school that I know I feel confident about. It was tough waiting and waiting to eventually get to to that point.

some advice would be to apply early, and even think about giong ED. If i was reapplying I would most likely apply ED at Illinois, just to guarantee a solid spot.

5-30
After months I finally got my USD scholarship offer of 18,000 a year. I will send in my official withdrawl on monday, so hopefully that will open up a spot for someone, since i did pay the initial deposit.

5-25
so im still techinquely waiting on USD to update my financial aid info, but as of now its almost for sure UF.

Im still considering some of the Wl's but as of now UF just seems like a really good fit.

5-16
And Baylor wins the make SFGiants wait the longest award. Sort of expected a rejection since it took this long to even remotely get back to me, so the wl was a little amusing. Anyways still down to UF and USD. Im gonna try and finagle some money from USD since they have been stalling on the subject forever.

But in all honesty, im Liking the idea of UF more and more every day.

5-13
So I accepted UF's offer, I will prbly hold on to USD for another week or so, and see if they can finally make some progress with fin Aid, but I will probably end up in UF.

After talking to a lot of the deans through phone calls and emails, Ive sort of gotten the impressoin, everyone is overenrolled, and they really dont know when or even if they will go to the WL. It also seems the WL admits are reverse splitters to boost up gpa numbers. UF seems like the only school which needed the lsat numbers so I figure i may as well take advantage of that. Its a cheap relatively school, best LS in Florida, and I have cousins that go to Undergrad there.

I also graduated last Saturday, so new update on gpa, its not in to lsac yet, but thats my calculation based on my grades.

5-11
So in off the WL at UF today, which is totally confusing me haha. I very well could end up there, if i dont get anymore waitlist movement, the problem is all these Deposits are starting to really get annoying.

So its USD v UF right now

4-24
Still have yet to get my USD FinAid, I dont think they sent it out till yesterday though so it makes sense. Due to their big rise in the rankings last week, they pushed the deadline for everyone back to next thursday, so unless i get off a WL by then, im gonna pay the deposit.
4-16
UOP upped their scholarship to 15 a year, which i sort of expected, since Kent and Chapman both offered 15. I really probably needed a better offer to convince me though.

4-14
USD extended my deadline to next week, while i wait for my Scholly info, which helps me relax quite a bit.

4-13
Getting closer to the deadline, Still havnt heard back from USD scholarship info, Im hoping that is in the mail today. GTown went to Decision on the status check last thursday apparently, so that rejection should be sitting in my mailbox when i get there today lol

GW rejection sent to my house

4-9
Got an email from UOP asking if I would like them to review my scholarship, and advising me i could still place deposit even though the deadline was april 1st. So I am reconsidering, obviously depending on the offer, as UOP is closer to my family and where I grew up.

4-8
Still approaching deposit deadlines, Im hoping I will hear from some one on the waitlist before next fall, but with my current acceptances im down to chicago Kent and USD. I have family from chicago, and I currently live very close to SD, so its tough, as i would be fine living in either location. Im waiting on USD for FinAid before i decide where i will deposit.

WUSTL waitlist was very expected, they seem to be very liberal with waitlisting, along with WL and WM, basically everyone not accepted is WL. I didnt really think i had a chance at Wash with out a better retake score anyways. such is life oh well.

so 7-3-12 thus far, with four more schools left (which im expecting another waitlist and two rejections from most likely).

3-31
waitlisted at UC hastings, which was rather expected. I have a feeling the Wisconsin waitlist will come soon as well. I am not sure really whats up with baylor, maybe they just dont like me lol.

3-27
Its getting close to april, I still havnt heard from about 6 schools, Im assuming the retake pushed me back to the end of the pile. Most likely rejections and waitlists left anyways.

3-25
Waitlist at William and Mary, sort of knew that one was coming, still waiting on the last few schools, and hopefully on some waitilist movement :)

3-23
Finally some more action, In at San Diego, rejection at Arizona. No word on any scholly at SD, hopefully i will get something. We are approaching deposit deadlines, which I hope means some waitlist action. A little surprised at UA rejection, but I didnt really put much effort into the app.

Update: got my mail for today ( the earlier post was my Saturday mail which i got this morning), and I am waitlisted at Florida, which was sort of expected.

So basically I figure W&M and WUSTL will send out the WL or rejection to me around April 1st, according to last cycle. GT and GW rejections could come anytime. Who knows about Wisconsin Baylor and Hastings, im guessing the retake moved my app back to the beginning of the pile.

3-15
So weirdly enough things have been really really slow lately, only a W & L waitlist along with half of the world. I have a bad feeling my cycle may last well into June and May. Im on quite few waitlists as i expected, and I am praying that UMN lets me off. Right now they are my number one choice really, and i just hope i can get off

2-27
ugh I am a bit devastated right now, Another effing 166.

update: ok the shock is over, life goes on, the score wasnt that bad. I am updating some Withdrawls, and hopefully news starts coming in again, now that the new score is out there, even though its the same as the old :(
2-22
Not a whole lot new lately, I figure most places are probably holding off for the new score. Six more days till i find out if i have a chance at improving.

This cycle has been a little rough on weak splitters, UMN UIUC and even Indiana have not been as splitter friendly. Hopefully in the end the deferalls and waitlists turn to acceptances.

Still holding out for a great score this friday, and possibly getting some love, but as more and more time passes the more worried i get.

2-17
rejected at pepperdine, looks like im the first on lsn haha. whatever Waves is a lame mascot

2-9
So another deferral, this time from L&C. I think retaking my have to do with some of the Deferrals, I guess I'll find out in 18 days or so.

2-6
LSAT eve.
Update at UIUC looks like im waitlisted, but it seems they may be a rather liberal with waitlist accpetances.

First reject at ND a couple days ago.

1-29
Scholly info at Kent 15,000 a year, and deferred at indiana, which scared me for a second due to its small status, better then a rejection though.

1-26
Waitlisted at loyola chicago, this one confuses me a bit, I think i will probably withdraw
update- waitlisted at Cincinatti as well
1-23
Email acceptance at chicago Kent :)

1-20
Im considering adding a few more apps if my LSAT score raises significantly. Also I may apply to UCI, I have been pretty excited about the school since i heard it was starting up.

1-20
Accepted at Depaul. Once again Im a bit worried about the low amount of scholarship money ( minus quinnipiac) but hopefully the new lsat score will change that.

1-9
Status checker at UIUC switched to On hold for 2nd Review, which was followed by an email from the school basically confirming it was essentially a deferral.
Also was waitlisted at George Mason.

1-7
Got the Chapman letter, I was a little surprised at only getting 40% of scholarship, oh well.

1-6
In at Chapman via Status check, says the decision was mailed yesterday, and I live about 15 miles from Orange so I should get more info soon.

1-5
I got the UMN waitlist letter right before I left to drive back to school, and I sent in my continued interest.
Found an acceptance from UOP with scholarship in my mail when i got back :)
The mail is about 10 days behind here, so hopefully some more news comes in this afternoon.

12-29
"decision letter sent" at umn, which isnt sounding promising. I guess I can just pray for a Waitlist.
-update- so after 5 hours of thinking i was done for, my status switched from letter sent, to Waitlist.

12-19
New grades, I moved up approximately .2, so that should look good hopefully :)

12-17:
Its rainy and cold in Newport Beach which makes things even more gloomier. Still no news, this wait is really starting to get to me, especially now that classes are over. Hopefully something comes in before Christmas.
Semester grades come out tomorrow night so that should be interesting as well.

12-7:
Finals week, so I should have an updated gpa soon as well.
Still nothing new, "in review" at UMN, so hopefully i get a decision there soon.

11-18:
Got the letter from Miami in the mail, they sure seem to work really fast.
Added a Few more ultra reaches and a few ultra safeties. Probably unnecessary on both accounts, but i thought i may as well try.

11-13:
Accepted at Miami by Email- A nice way to start off the cycle

10-31:
My Halloween consisted of finishing up my apps. I applied to 21 schools today, I may apply to 5 or 6 more around December.

Are you sure Loyola's app is free for everyone? Because I sure as hell paid that $50 :/

Go Giants!
Friday, October 24 2008 at 08:00 PM

I'm a big time Giants fan living in VA. I've got WM, Hastings and UOP on my list too. Good luck & maybe we can start an Orange & Black club. Hopefully Lincecum takes home the Cy Young next week!

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

haha it's all goood. Best of luck this cycle.

CA
Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

that would be the best case scenario, but I'd move out of state with no problems, really.

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

You're applying to a lot of the schools I did. Good luck. :)

Go As
Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

Just wanted to let you know that As>Giants. Enjoy Barry Zito. Good luck on your cycle as well.

Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

Lmao, evidentially LSN doesn't like the "greater than" symbol. Nevertheless, As still rock the Giants.

Wednesday, May 07 2008 at 08:00 PM

yea its nice to get one under the belt. hopefully we will hear from san diego soon too.

Congrats
Sunday, October 05 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Miami, I have a friend that goes there. Good luck with the rest of your cycle. By the way, nice deduction on Fresno State.

Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

Holliday is indeed exciting for As fan that hasn't witnessed a decent offense since....childhood really. Hopefully we can back it up with the signing of Rafael Furcal or Jason Giambi. Giants might be slightly more pathetic than the As. Perhaps a dose of CC Sabathia or Manny Ramirez might help that situation. Then, perhaps the surfer might get his New Age aura back in flow.

hey
Wednesday, January 09 2008 at 07:00 PM

i noticed that you and i are applying to some same places...i am still not complete from chapman and never received any kind of a email notification from loyola even though i know i am complete at both schools...is this the same for you???? good luck!

hey
Wednesday, January 09 2008 at 07:00 PM

we both applied atound the same time...i wouldn't be surprised he we start hearing from a good amount of places soon...you look like you'll have a lot of options. good luck!

Sunday, October 19 2008 at 08:00 PM

Good luck to you too, not too many like us out there.. Timmy Lincecum's a hell of a pitcher, eh?

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

I got a fee waiver from Cardozo and I'm really considering applying but I hate that they have the dumb Certification shindig. I just sent my Dean of Students a snail mail for another school and I hate having to do it again. Blah... stupid certifications. :(

Sunday, October 19 2008 at 08:00 PM

Tough to say so early. Obviously some of those schools would figure to be more desirable than others, but I will be evaluating more closely as the decisions roll in. Hope you have better luck with those Irish than me lol, as they are obviously your top choice.

Sunday, October 19 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! App was complete about a month ago.

miami?
Wednesday, May 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

you got into miami? congrats My gpa isn't very good either...I'm hoping to get a good LSAT score like you....hoping that will make the difference...and can I ask how you got the free wavers?

Saturday, December 06 2008 at 07:00 PM

we've got similar scores and are applying to some of the same schools. thanks for the heads up about wash and lee being a free app. i'll definitely submit now! best of luck to you!

Thanks & Congrats Yourself
Friday, October 24 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Miami. Don't think I saw that before. Looks like Hastings decisions are starting to come in. Good luck...(watching night games from the east coast is tough!)

Monday, September 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

Wow, it is great to see somebody who went as overboard as I did applying to schools. Good luck.

Sunday, October 19 2008 at 08:00 PM

I see you got your grades up, nice job!

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

congrats on your acceptances thus far. i'm surprised you didnt get more money, with your numbers and all but i doubt that matters as you'll definitely be getting into some much better schools. good luck. you'll do great this cycle.

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

congrats on UOP. I think we got the same scholarship haha :D

Sunday, October 19 2008 at 08:00 PM

Maybe not, but can't hurt. Pretty solid to go up two tenths in your last year. And yeah, I did, but that was a few years ago.

SF Giants!
Thursday, December 11 2008 at 07:00 PM

i just moved back to newport from the bay area so your username/info made me smile. good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

i'm so sorry about Pepperdine. That's weird with your numbers. ;(

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

i'm so sorry about all the waitlist. you might just end up waiting until may/june and even later for the waitlist. you're a splitter though so that should be good on your side. good luck. I'm dying to get off Pepperdine but I know the chances are slim and if they come it won't be until probably july. ;( I hate the admissions cycle. this stinks. you have some good schools with schollies right now. For Pacific contact Dean Adam Barrett, he's working with me to increase my scholarship right now and I'm sure he can drastically raise your scholarship. you have a great LSAT... talk to him... especially with your other scholarships... good luck.

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

thank you. i'm really gonna fight Pepperdine. When I visited it just felt really right. I'm a soCal girl at heart and Pepperdine feels like home. I'm from Orange County. ;) Good luck with those waitlist. if you can get off some of them that's fantastic... I truly hope that they dip into the waitlist this year, I know a lot of schools are waitlisting like crazy and hopefully it pays off for us waitlisters. ;)

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Oh for sure. It's all about the O.C... haha. That's probably why I had such a great connection with Pepperdine... it's similar home but far enough for me to just go buck wild. kidding... well sorta. Of course our beaches are so much better and less smoggy then Malibu... I've been down at Huttington and Newport the past few days tanning and enjoying the sun and goodness I love driving down PCH and jamming out... ;) cross your fingers for me and pray or whatever, in hopes that Pepperdine will draw from the waitlist and more specifically... pick me up... hahaha. i'm such a loser. I shouldn't get my hopes up. Minnesota is a fantastic school and they have great programs so yeah if you went there I'm sure you'd truly enjoy it. Good luck... I actually considered it but after a few years in west Texas and dealing with the random snow... it's just not for me. I like the sun too much. haha. but Minnesota is great and I do love visiting the state. Not gonna lie.. I like the Governor of Minnesota as well... good guy.

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

hey... i've blogged about UCI so much it's ridiculous. Bottom line I think that they have so much potential and they're in fantastic shape to not only potential be T1 but a top 25. I honestly believe they'll surpass Davis/Hastings in the long run. It's going to be a great school with great faculty and great location. Overall it's a school i would definitely highly consider. In my siutation, if I were accepted I can't say I'd automatically take it. I would have to go in and talk to the people and really get a real sense of the likelihood of me finding a job in my respective field. That's the one thing I'm hesitant about for the first class. Intellectula Property is fairly competitive and I don't know if it would be smart to drop SCU for UCI. I'd have to think about it. Full tuition is hard to pass though. It's definitely a good school and one worth looking at and with lots of potentiala.

UMN
Saturday, October 18 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey, yes I do think I'll stick out the waitlist. I'm really surprised by how few of us are on it (on lsn anyways). Either way I will wait it out but the $750 non-refundable deposit means I better be sure if I hear good news. I'm glad we got a decent shot though. You'll stay on as well?

Sunday, October 19 2008 at 08:00 PM

Actually its looking like I will not be going until next year; want to work and save up so I'm not going into debt too far. If I were going this year it'd be between Florida and Indiana. Hopefully I will free up a space at Minnesota or Florida for you!

Congrats!!
Monday, February 09 2009 at 07:00 PM

Wow, what a great cycle!:) Where would you say you are leaning towards?

Monday, February 09 2009 at 07:00 PM

ah yes waitlists! I am a waitlist magnet. San Diego will be awesome! I'm still waiting to hear from them. As of now I'm thinking McGeorge, yeah. Good luck!

Wednesday, February 25 2009 at 07:00 PM

Go Giants! Fellow Bay Area sports fan here, will most likely be forced to watch the Nationals next year. Good luck to you!

Friday, June 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Chicago Kent....Have you been to Chicago? If not, I can tell you that it is a great school. Good Luck wherever you decide to go.

Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

You have some very interesting options at this point...San Diego is the best school but McGeorge seems to be handing out the money. Both are good schools, really depends on your field of interest and the area you want to practice in. And those Giants....off to a wonderful start, eh? Cheers

hey there... right now I'm set on Santa Clara but I'm beginning to get second thoughts about some of the other schools that I'm waiting on. A part of me is loathe to leave southern California and I'm starting to really like San Diego and Loyola again. I'm starting to remember why I liked the schools in the first place. I don't know... well see. If they don't come in than my life will be easier and Santa Clara all the way. but I sure hope they do come in so that I can have the decision. Still, Pepperdine is my first choice and if they want to show me some love, which I doubt will happen, I'd totally go. :( Congrats on your scholarship increases. Where are you leaning now?

I know, I saw that about UOP. They've been hovering around the T2/T3 and it just doesn't look to good for them. They have good programs and great faculty but something is going on that I can't figure out for them. San Diego is a good bet. Hopefully your finaid is good. :) I don't know. It might be harder, but it depends on their seat deposit date. SD I know extended the seat deposit... sneaky bastards. :) But it just might be a little more competitive. I know for Pepperdine, I'm completely not getting my hopes up. I'm so annoyed with San Diego and Loyola right now. I decided that I wanted to stay in SoCal so I'd pick either of them over SCU. Jerks are making me wait until may... :(

Hang in there man, at least a few of those wait lists have to come through. And if not, believe me, as someone who knows all too well about the winters in some of those waitlist locales...the University of San Diego ain't a bad consolation.

How did you find out your were off the waitlist at UF?

Are you going to attend UF??

I'm just lucky they seem to be going for higher LSATs at the moment. It looks like I am going to UF! I am keeping on at FSU however, until I get a chance to go tour UF + Gainesville. I only got a chance to skim through the campus and city so I'd like to take a deeper look. And if I find it completely hideous I still have FSU going for me, and I know I like Tally and the campus since I went there for UG.

Additionally, We both have the same pre-med story lol. Chem I, Bio I, all the labs. It was a crazy first year.

Haha good luck to you as well. Though I must say I am still riding 3 waitlists, but it appears that I am UF bound considering getting off those waitlists is pretty unlikely.

thanks. I'm really excited and getting more and more amped as the day goes by. I saw that you officially picked Florida. I love UF, it's a great school and who wouldn't want to go there, particulary for the football...goodness 2x National Champions in 3 years and Tebow (heart that kid). hahaha. :) Congrats...

I feel like a damn Giants fan....the last several years have been painful for As fans. Billy Beane bet the farm on Bobby Crosby and Eric Chavez to be major contributors in the infield, while highly-respected prospects like Daric Barton and Travis Buck would perform. Now, we are stuck with the worst offense in baseball (by far, to the tune of .010) . You think the in-the-playoff-run Giants would be willing to trade prospects for Matt Holiday? The As might as well trade everyone over 25. And props on Florida, mate.

What was the secret to getting lots of fee waivers? Did you only get them post-LSAT?

Hey, way to go on IU! Good luck there!

Hey, how'd you get your fee waivers?

Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

SF, I'm relatively sure you are the guy on TLS. Anyway drop me a line, I'm considering IU-B, want to know about your experiences. We talked last year.

Thanks for the info, SF. What is the housing situation in Bloomington? Did you find housing through craigslist? Does the school provide a listing? I'm trying to spend between 400-600 dollars, whether by myself or with roommates doesn't matter.
