Additional info & updates

Sent = submitted via LSAC

Received = e-mail confirmation or LSDAS report requested, whichever happened first

Complete = Email confirmation or noticed change in status checker.

Decision = Decision received, not postmarked or any of that crap.

12/19/06 - First decision!! Oh wait - it's a rejection. Your loss, UT!!

12/20/06 - Phone calls from Loyola Chicago and SMU - accepted at both!

12/22/06 - Big pack in the mail from American - I'm in!

01/03/07 - Email from Northwestern: Your decision is available via the online status checker. I'm out!

01/09/07 - Phone call from Kansas - I'm admitted and scholarship decisions will be made in February and March.

1/16/07 - Phone call from an SMU c '41 grad - nice touch!

1/20/07 - Letter from Temple: Waitlist. They wanted me to submit a form saying I'm still interested and emphasised that they want to admit students that really want to go to Temple.

1/24/07 - Finally got the packet from Loyola promised in their earlier phone call. 8k/year scholarship too.

1/24/07 - Packet from DePaul: Accepted with 18k/year.

1/29/07 - Letter from Chicago-Kent: Admitted with $20,000 a year.

02/05/07 - Letter from Arizona State: Rejected. That one hurts mostly because it's 5 degrees in Chicago today. Ugh.

02/06/07 - Letter from Wash U St. Louis: They're deferring my early action application to the regular decision pool.

2/10/07 - Things are winding down. Rejection letter from Wisconsin. Waitlisted at Indiana - withdrew my application.

04/02/07 - Rejected at Wash U St. Louis, even though they were very impressed with my credentials. Heh.

I finally withdrew from American. I had been favoring SMU for a while there, but staying in Chicago and accepting the Kent scholarship just makes TOO much sense. Withdrew from SMU. Locked and loaded for Kent.

Good luck on your apps! We have similar numbers...any tips?

its lonely...
Sunday, November 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

well i guess the saying attests that its lonely on the top but I am starting to believe the middle sucks when you're applying to law school The worst part about this is that I cannot tell... Goodluck to you!

online status checkers...

Chicago

I'm really excited about the prospect of going to Chicago. I'd love to hear a CHicagoan's perspective on Loyola and DePaul. Living near campus, relative job prospects....those sorts of things. Best of luck

congrats

Thanks!

Thanks for the congrats and congrats to you too! Yeah, I noticed that we applied to many of the same schools! I applied part-time to most of mine though. Let's cross our fingers and hope for more acceptances before the holidays!

Thanks!

you too! doesn't it feel good to finally get an acceptance...talk about a smile

Northwestern is overrated!
Saturday, October 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

At least that's what I'm telling myself! Good luck with the Michigan Deferral. Mich > Northwestern anyways. Why did you take your numbers down? Do Adcomms look on LSN? Please email me and let me know.

SMU
Tuesday, November 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

What do you think about SMU? I got that same phone call from the '41 alum. On a side note, I've heard great things about Wisconsin and Wash U. Good Luck!

SMU
Tuesday, November 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

I've heard great things about Dallas and the school seems to have great job prospects in that area. I want to check it out for myself though.

SMU / American
Tuesday, August 15 2006 at 08:00 PM

we've got similar numbers/schools...what are your thoughts on American? Have you looked into any scholarships, grants, etc?

American
Tuesday, August 15 2006 at 08:00 PM

As of now, American is my number one, as I've been deferred at Wake (where I'd ultimately like to attend.) The cost of living and tuition at American is unsettling, though. Did you like the campus? I have yet to visit. Early in the process, I considered SMU, as I am originally from Dallas, but never applied, especially after hearing from American so early. It depends on where you'd like to practice, ultimately. I'd like to wind up in the South, but would not discount the Midwest. It may be too late, but I may apply to SMU and Emory for the hell of it. Loyola Chi is a great school and they are quick to offer scholarships, but staying in Chicago for law school is not in the cards for me. I'd rather be further removed from the city for a while. I attended IU for undergrad; if you get in, you should strongly consider attending.

congrats

all those decisions already! For UT, they are very tough on non-residents, i was deferred from EA as a resident with only a 158.

interesting observation
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

I am wondering if maybe that is because they just want to accept all of the "for sure ins" first and will start accepting some lower LSATs later in teh game. Interestingly, they also have not rejected anyone yet...

WashU
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey there :) Soo I noticed on someone's wall that the WashU deposit is due April 15th. Does that mean that they'll have to let us know of their decision before that? It seems odd that everyone would have the deposit due on the same day regardless of when they hear their decision. If you get in a few days before the deposit is due, there's no time to visit and really see if you want to put the money down. Frustrating!

Decision time
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey there :) Sorry to see about WashU, but I suppose it's just nice to know so oyu can move on with decision making. Which way are you leaning, and what will the decision be based on at this point?

SMU
Tuesday, December 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! Yeah, it feels really good to be done with the whole application/decision thing. I love Dallas and the campus is gorgeous...let me know if/when you decide SMU for sure!
