Im just spreading the karma, we have applied to a few of the same schools. I too am glad that scu communicated with me. I was getting a bit worried.
I love honest admissions people! The residency deal sounds really good. Did you actually call schools to confirm the material or via email? And how long did you wait to do so?? THANKS! -fellow dawg
Congrats on DePaul! I'm glad to hear that you got some $$ there too since we have similar stats. I live in Chicago and you would love it here - I'm really hoping I don't have to leave.
I am also encouraged by you Depaul acceptance. Congratulations. I hope to hear from Depaul soon.
Glad to see you get into Depaul. Gives me some hope lol! I just sent out their app a week or so ago so hopefully that wont hurt my chances too much. Useful info about Rutgers and in state residency, im going to check that out.
yeah, i also noticed they are out until the 2nd. that makes it so much more strange that my status checker still says decision mailed, updated 01/01/07. hopefully we get in. is seattle one of your top choices? happy holidays!
Thank you for your kindness. Best of luck with applying. Maybe I will see you at Depaul.
so i guess that one lsat point really makes a difference. :( j/k! but really congrats!
Thanks for the comment. No talk of money yet from SU. I'm thinking I won't get any, looking at the amounts of money they've been giving to ppl with higher gpa/lsat combo. Good luck, maybe we'll both end up at Seattle!
Congrats on Seattle. I am sooo jealousssss! I think you will be getting a Willamette acceptance any day now, with money. We both went complete around the same time, so be looking for that in the mail! Good luck with everything else!
YAY about seattle :). I'm glad their status checker is atleast somewhat reliable!
Congrats on Seattle!
Congrats on Seattle!
Congrats. on your Seattle acceptance. How long did it take for your letter to arrive after your info changed on their status checker? The wait is driving me nuts.
Wow your letter came fast. Mine has said my decision has been mailed since the 8th and still no word. Good luck with the rest of your apps.
Congrats on Seattle, I knew you'd get in! YAY. If only GWU took us both that would be the icing on the cake!
I was starting to get worried that it was never going to come. I see that you have spent time around the campus, how is it?
Thanks! They're the main school I'd be interested in starting during the summer. Although I spent some time looking at apartmentguide.com last night and it is EXPENSIVE to live there! Geez! I didn't realize it was that much.
Thanks! I am crossing my fingers. Though I was really bummed to learn that they don't let you defer. We shall see. Good Luck with everything else. I can't believe UW hasn't even started sending out decisions yet.
Congrats on all that $$$$ from Willamette. Makes the choice a little tougher, although hopefully GW or UW pull through and make it easy. Good luck!
So I FINALLY went complete at Seattle. Now I can't stop checking to see if they've decided or not! It's an addiction really.... :)
What's weird is it changed on THURSDAY but the "date" was tuesday. And I've been checking it every hour or so too :) even though their site says tuesdays. Anyway, I can't imagine how neurotic I'll be when it changes to mailed. AHH
I saw you mentioned something about getting an invite to a visiting students weekend at Depaul. Was this in a small letter or in a big packet? I have gotten so much stuff, I am not sure if I missed it or not
yeah I apologize if I'm like a DePaul troll - I personally really liked the ppl, staff, (and their attitude about the school), and I even liked the building itself a whole lot (though plenty of people complain about the building being old - I went to a little old Catholic h.s. though, maybe thats it...) Heck you may want to apply and Kent and / or visit there just to see it and compare the two. Those are actually the only 2 schools I've seen thus far. I really favored DePaul based on their open houses. However Kent is a little better in the rankings and its reputation might even improve over time w/ all the good lawyers coming out of there... oh, you have Loyola too... well there you go. Interested in what ppl say about them as well. I'd say def. look at some maps and consider location if it is a factor for you also... ok thats my 10 cents Good luck *NOTE: acceptance ltr came in a big packet*
Yeah dude I'm totally stoked about Seattle. The money too was awesome, I didn't expect that. Have fun in Chicago. You should throw in a free app to Florida Coastal. Get a free trip to Florida. They pay $500 no matter if you attend there or not. Good luck!
i noticed you said your fiance is pushing for chicago - mine is too. i'll probably be at the DePaul ASW in March. good luck with your decision(s)! and good luck with your last few apps.
great cycle so far! Can I ask why you said no to hofstra app. even if you got a fee waiver?
I have to say unless DePaul throws me some money (which is unlikely), I more than likely won't end up there. COL in Chicago plus the full tuition will still mean a lot of loans, even with the SO working full-time. Toledo's giving me full tuition, which is awfully hard to turn down, even though it's not quite Chicago. All that being said, I'm still waiting on 20 schools, so a lot can happen.
LOL that made me laugh :). For some reason I woke up early this morning (I try to sleep in on my school days, bleh) and in the three hours i've been awake i've only refreshed TWICE. Tuesdays are horrible lol. I've kind of given up hope it will be quite awhile before I hear anything though.
Cinque Terra?
YLS is the leader right now. Big surprise, right? But HLS and SLS are still under consideration. Honestly, I'd probably be seriously considering Michigan if they'd offered me a full ride. And I'm waiting to see about UVA's merit aid. But YLS, HLS, and SLS (especially the first two) have excellent LRAP programs, so I've made peace with the prospect of tens of thousands of dollars of debt.
Thanks for the info on Oregon! Since I can't visit, it makes it difficult for me to committ to going. Your experience with DePaul has been the complete opposite of mine. At first, I'm excited about all the stuff I'm getting. Then, when I have a concern, I email the guy who signed our acceptance letter (I think he said specifically to email or call if I had any questions). 2 weeks go by and I get nothing. So I call and leave a message. That was 3 weeks ago. Still nothing. I even sent a hard copy of my letter and haven't gotten a response. Now I hear you're getting a call from a 3L to answer your questions? Nothing for me. Oh, I got my RSVP confirmation for the 10 March event. . .great, except I didn't RSVP for it! I RSVP'ed for the 11 April Dean's Reception. I guess I'm just a little perturbed by DePaul right now. So, where's it looking like you're headed? Do you know yet? Right now, Pacific's my top choice of the bunch, assuming I'm offered a scholarship increase (I can't afford to go otherwise). I had a very positive experience when I visited, and I actually found myself not wanting to leave Sacramento when my trip ended. I'm taking that as a good sign. :)
Hey, congrats on DePaul...any idea if that's where you'll end up? I'm from new york, and kinda freaking out about where i should go
I actually (speak of the devil) just got an email from DePaul. It seemed sort of form emailish because it was about 6 paragraphs long (and didn't address my concern for working in public interest law with a huge debt load at all), but at least I heard back. It's a no. Bah. Here's hoping on Pacific! I'm glad you're having a good experience with them, though. It's nice to feel wanted at schools. I'm sure some people aren't as interested in Pacific as I am for the same reasons I'm losing interest a bit in DePaul. It all depends on individual experience, I think. :)
I am moving from SF so happy to see someone else going from the west to the east. I think I am living on campus the first year, I looked at Hoboken, and after the school essentially lined up in state, I can afford a nicer area 2nd and 3rd. We should be pen pals so I have a buddy there.
I'll be at Rugers in the fall also, but doing the evening program. I've lived in Jersey for the past 4 years (time has flown!) and have a great job that I love in NYC (and those connections will help me post law school...). Good luck apartment hunting. You may also want to look in Jersey City. parts are just as nice as Hoboken, and much cheaper. I also picked Rutgers over Seton Hall after visiting both schools. It was an easy decision when factoring the huge cost difference as well!
I am scheduled to fly out to Newark on the 26 (Thursday). I was wondering if you have any questions you did not ask, but wish you had? Also, was wondering if you saw any Macs while you were there or if all students use PCs? Your comments have been helpful and prompted me to finally join LSN. Are you involved in any other user groups you might recommend?
ah yes, but I'm a New Yorker. New Jersey is a whole new world for me. I went out there for a drive this weekend. I think I'm going to focus my apt./roommate hunt near Grove Street.
well, im going to stick around on the waitlist, and hope for word from Buffalo or Rutgers Newark. Buffalo is about 10K a year less.... but its 8 hours away vs the one hours of Rutgers.
Hey, I am finishing my 1L year at RU-N and I have a beautiful 3bedroom apartment with 1 other roommate... if you're looking for a nice place around the law school, let me know!
I wrote this, must have logged me out. -MikeRN
How did you get a Fee waiver from GW?
