You are right with the dates. I believe we should hear by Dec. 30th. I am really hoping for before Christmas. I am tired of the family asking if I have heard anything. Obviously I haven't. My top choice is actually U of Louisville. There's a couple of reasons why I want to stay here...

That sucks about getting deferred. But, don't get discouraged. If they were going to reject you, they would have just done it. Keep the faith!!

good luck on INDY. You should call the school and ask about being placed into their summer start up session. I was told that I was in it in February. Let then know how dedicated you are in comming. Keep the faith and good luck.

I got good news from John Marshall and VU. However, VU didn't offer me money which I am a little surprised. If I get rejected from IU-Indy, I'll have to go with the money John Marshall is offering me since I feel VU and John Marshall are close. What do you think? Thanks for the prompt and kind reply. I will definitely take your suggestion in consideration. Reason why I went for the M.S., Accounting, because I was thinking about writing the CPA...the fact that I did not have enough accounting credits. I could either take additional classes, or take the classes in the form of a master degree. Thus, I decided to go for a M.S. instead. I will eventually sitting for it, because I believe that having a CPA, and law degree can be an amazing conbination. Moreover, I am working the International Tax Services right now, I am the only employee with no JD, and LLM in Tax.

I forgot to address your point about the MBA...Somehow, depends on what you want to do in life, I greatly believe that having one is always worth it. In my case, while a lot of students might not find a great job after law school, this will never happen to me as long as there exist accounting, and financial firms. As I mentioned previously, my team in the International Tax Services, if you don't have a law degree with an accounting background, it is less likely to get in. I can only tell you to go for it if you can afford it, because soon or later, it will serve you well.

Thanks for the input. I am looking at the Chicago schools and VU because of location. MSU is a bit of a distance, and I don't know if I can see myself practicing in that area after graduation. That was my main detirminer. And well VU is not in consideration now, because I can't turn down the money that JM offered compared to the big "0" VU threw out there. However, I'm really hoping for IU-Indy, but i'm not too sure how that will work out... Maybe we'll end up being classmates! Keep me posted.

SLU isn't home, but it sure feels like it. I was in STL for 4 years for my undergraduate education and really want to get back to my friends and the mid-west. Besides, the summers are far easier than here in Austin. I'm also leaning heavily on my graduate work. My UGPA and my Grad GPA are worlds apart and I hope they understand that. We'll see though. Let me know as soon as you hear anything and I'll be sure to do the same. If I'm offered a seat at SLU I'm taking it, so perhaps I'll see you there (fingers crossed). Don't hesitate to email.

What about the summer institute at SLu? Have you thought about that program? I am strongly considering SLU as an option.

We have a similar LSAT and both applied to SLU PT...did you request summer institute or did they offer it to you? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated - Thank you and Congrats!

I didn't apply for Summer Institute or write an essay...I'm thinking it would have been wise to do so as an afterthought. Congrats on SLU & Cooley. Is SLU your 1st choice?

My top 2nd tiers are GA State, SLU & Indy for proximity to home (from IL)...as far as third tiers go I'm ok with John Marshall & Loyno but I think John Marshall is great if you plan to practice in Chicago. I haven't visited New Orleans since I was younger so I would really need to visit to make sure it's a place I would want to live for 3+ years...also, I'm in ATL right now so GA State would be ideal. I was pretty upset about DePaul even tough I knew a denial was coming my way. Anyways, yes, I loved Art History but the majority of my coursework was in architecture - I switched degrees. I'll keep you posted on acceptances/denials...by the way, I was pretty shocked on my WL from SIU. I really thought I stood a good shot there - guess not?!

How did MSU let you know you were waitlisted?

Well, I was rejected by MSU in the time between reading your response and this post. Not the end of the world, but obviously rejections are never easy to take. As of now, Valpo is the only place I've been accepted. I'm really hoping to get into JMLS, so the option of staying in Chicago is still available. Good luck getting off of the waitlist!

I suppose I don't need to add to my anxiety by being on a waitlist. I wasn't too keen on moving to, or practicing in MSU, but it is a really good school. Hopefully you'll hear back soon from them. Have you really been complete at JMLS since November and haven't heard back? Seems to me you should have no trouble getting in there.

As of now, I am attending the Summer Institute at SLU. I am looking forward to the intellectual challenge. I think that we would probably slip in the full time class, but who knows. So, there are 25 students that enroll in the program. I know that they take only 13 students, right? Conditional programs are always a little disconcerning, but oh well. I know that we will be assessed through exams and through law school exercises. Are you originally from Saint Louis? What did you think of the surrounding area? During the summer, you cannot buy a meal plan and you cannot live on campus. I hope that this helps. Look forward to hear from you, and congrats again on SLU!

Great to hear from you. I submitted my deposit to SLU this afternoon. Right now, I am leaning toward SLU. I love the fact that they are Jesuit and I am impressed by most of their programs. When are you planning on applying for financial aid? I guess after the Professors judge our performance, then we apply. So, I assume that it is in early August. A plethora of uncertainty...but ah well...It will be an exciting intellectual endeavor. GO Billikens.

Hi Beattyrot, Last year SLU came in slightly over 50% (12 of 20). SLU did lose 1 student during the course of the semester. The admission office just gave me these facts. What are your thoughts? I wanted to share this with you.

Hi Beattyot, Last year, one decided that it was not for him/her. Therefore, one student dropped. 12/19 ended up passing. Does that clarify things? Are you nervous? I am a little bit, but we both seem like we want it. Therefore, I am confident that we will both pass. Did you turn in your deposit?

Hey my friend, You are right on the money. THe conditional program is not all that bad. If 19 students do well, my impression is that they will accept 19 students. The conditional program does not seem to be designed to be harsh. It seems that it is designed to be a help. You and I will both pass. I just wanted to make sure that you knew the statistics from the admission department.
