LOYOLA 2011!! AND VERY HAPPY ABOUT IT!

GOOD LUCK ALL!

DISCOVERER OUT.

8/25 GULC has no room for me off the waitlist. I guess "preferred" doesn't mean much. Thought my chances were pretty good in the beginning, but, as it turns out, they were probably slim-to-none all along.

8/7 Rec'd e-mail from GULC similar to earlier e-mails saying that response has been unexpectedly strong so there are currently no openings but there's a still a possibility that a couple of seats may open up. The fat lady is silent for a little while longer.

8/1 I think I can just about hear the fat lady singing. Looks like I'm headed to Loyola, which was the original goal when I started this process a whole year ago - but I had to dream a little. The cycle's been a real hoot. Good luck to everyone!!

7/8 Nothing yet from GULC.

6/7 Rec'd a somewhat discouraging email from the GULC about the waitlist, but I'm going to stay positive and hang on.

4/25 Large white envelope from Santa Clara today. Logged onto their ecampus website and re-withdrew.

3/14 Got back from lunch and the message light on my work phone was on. Message from GMU Asst. Director of Admissions saying I've been accepted. Awesome!!!

3/12 E-mail acceptance from Fordham. I'd love to go to law school in NYC.

3/6 Followed up on Fordham app. Could have sworn their status checker showed complete in early mid-January. According to their response, it went complete on 2/8. hmmmm?

2/24 (Later on that evening) Still trying to figure out what this "preferred waiting list" really is. Seems like the fact that it's unranked makes it kind of a lottery. Not sure if I'm interpreting it correctly. ?????????? If that's the case, there's really nothing I can do to increase my chances.

2/24 THE DREAM LIVES ON! I'm on the preferred waiting list. The letter doesn't require any action on my part other than responding to an e-mail they'll send in May. Should I send a letter or something anyway to let them know I'm still VERY VERY interested? Any advice on whether and what to write would be greatly appreciated.

2/23 No thin white envelope from GULC yet. So the dream lives on another day.

2/22 Called to check my status at GWU. Was transferred to the Dean of Admissions who congratulated me on being accepted. WOW!!!!!!!

2/21 Status checker at Georgetown went to Decision. My pipedream will soon come to an end. :(

2/20 Small white envelope from Seton Hall. Acceptance letter dated 2/13.

2/17 Finally!!! Received a big white envelope from Loyola.

2/15 Loyola status checker finally goes to decision. Don't know what to make of the fact that it took so long.

It looks like we are on the same boat... And if it weren't for our gpas we would both be up a creek without a paddle! If my score was any lower I probably would have taken the LSAT again. At this point my gpa is carrying me and with my lsat I can squeak by into enough schools to attend one that I really like. I already got into Kentucky and if my other top 6 don't come through, I think I will go there.... Just not worth waiting another year to try again.... Not to mention I don't want to go through that hell again, I'll save that for actual law school. : ) GL with Loyola! This waiting for decisions is making me crazy!

Yeah, I'm on the "preferred" waitlist, and I really don't know what to make of it. I've heard that people on the PWL have a pretty good shot at getting in, but do I really want to bet on that? So... yeah. It's a lottery. Congrats on your acceptances so far. Any top choices?

Southwestern/Loyola

Hey, congrats on all of your acceptances as well. While Southwestern is a good school, and I hear it does have a good rep in LA, I've heard Loyola and Pepp not only have better reps in LA, but also across the country. And, I want to go to a school that is ranked. That is why I withdrew from Southwestern. Have you been to Southwestern or Loyola? I am going to visit Loyola and Pepp in a few weeks. Also, congrats on GW, that is awesome!

GULC Waitlist
Tuesday, December 19 2006 at 07:00 PM

I'm not really sure what unranked means. I don't know if it's a lottery or if they review files again when spots turn up. Supposedly, the preferred waitlist's GULC's highest list, so we might still have a shot.

You were right

Well, it took a little longer than your experience, but I've got my Loyola acceptance (and now a big headache over the decision between Loyola part-time and Pacific full-time is coming on. . .hoo boy). By the way, congrats on that Georgetown waitlist. . .that's amazing!

I would think...

Being on the preferred waitlist means you have a pretty decent shot at getting in. I was waitlisted, but on their regular waiting list, so I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen! Congrats on all of your acceptances!

Congrats on Fordham, Mason, and GW... hopefully I will have the same luck. Waited WAY late to apply though. Any advice?

I've got to say-I'm incredibly jealous that you already know about Mason! I am DYING to find out. But congratulations!

I've definitely

talked to the dean a couple of times in the past week or so. They are, supposedly, "behind" in reviewing applications. I'll give them another week (maybe-if I have the patience), and then get in contact again!

FAFSA
Tuesday, March 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the heads up. I transmitted my FAFSA today, I guess I'll have to do it twice more to hit all the schools I applied to. Whats the deal with the 6 school limit? Anyway... hopefully I will have the same results. What do you want to do with your degree and where do you think you will go?

Where to go...
Tuesday, March 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

I think I'd be happy at any of the ones on my list ranked 58 and higher... although I am hoping for better luck than that. Anything below that and I am not sure I would attend this year. OH BTW.. will schools notify you once they get your FAFSA?

Loyola
Tuesday, March 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

Actually I forgot that one until after I sent the last message. Yeah I would consider going, but there are some big schools in the area which spells major competition. I would love to do Brooklyn or Mason though. I really dont care if it is PT or FT I just want to go to a good school.

Surprised doesn't begin to cover it...
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

I was shocked, as well, about being waitlisted. The letter said most decisions are made after May 15. I've put a call in to the Dean to see if she can shed any light on why I was waitlisted, and if I can do anything to improve my chances, so now I'm waiting for her to call me back. In the meantime, I'm going to wait until the last possible moment before submitting my first seat deposit to GW, just in case GMU gets back to me sooner rather than later.

Southwestern SCALE
Monday, November 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

Several reasons for choosing SCALE: 1- I go to a really small school right now where I have less than 20 people in all of my classes and really love it. SCALE classes are tiny and you get a lot of personal attention and feedback. 2- I went to college on and off for five years before going full time the last 2 years to finish. I don't want any more breaks, I just want to work as a lawyer ASAP. 3- I am married and we own a condo, so 2 years of having to pay for 2 places is better than 3.

amazing cycle. which school are you leaning towards?

Reapplying.
Tuesday, March 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

So since my luck was not so great this year, I have decided to reapply 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 months earler than last cycle. Since our numbers were so close I was wondering if I could get some input from you. I plan to apply to all the DC and NYC schools I did last time. Plus this time I am working at a law office and revamping my application packet for each school. Anyway, I'll tell you more if you'd like to email me. Congrats on all your acceptances!

New Cycle
Tuesday, March 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

Well I just updated my choices for this cycle.. I wouls love your feed back on chances or other progams I should consider (or not even bother with ;) ) Hope all is wel with you, I might ask you to give me some thoughts on my PS once it is in a workable version. Hope all is well Mr 1L!

question
Sunday, May 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

was it easy to get in? i have the same credentials and will apply for part time schools in new york? are they very selective? when did you apply? i am so scared that i won't get in...

question
Sunday, May 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

thanks for your comment. I actually retook the exam and got 159. I believe they no longer average the scores, so hopefully they won't pay 151 too much attention. i am applying to all the part time programs in ny and seton hall in nj. so what do you think?

Thanks.
Tuesday, March 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

I am really pulling for UT since it will be a pretty cheap option... but I like all the schools on my list. How is life at Loyola?
