Additional info & updates

Submitted a GPA addendum that helped to explain some non-academic personal reasons/distractions behind a lower GPA during UG.

Choice # is the Chiashu odds for 2005. Chicago and Columbia numbers are 2004 chances, and are also way off (too high).

Notes:

12/31 - Harvard donation on account of my family insisting that I do it because I would regret it if I didn't (and not listening to me).

Decisions:

12/19 - Rejected at BC. Upsetting but not surprising.*

12/22 - Accepted at DePaul w/ $45k Scholarship.*

1/22 - Waitlisted at Loyola Chicago with a note asking for me to confirm that I'm still interested, and reminding me that I should let them know if I'm going somewhere else as soon as it happens ... I suppose it's yield protection. Fair play.

1/23 - In at Michigan for Fall '07. Wow. Simply, wow.

1/23 - In at Northwestern for Fall '07 as well. When it rains it pours.

1/23 - Withdrew from a number of schools today. It's clear that some of them knew what they were doing by stalling on my application. I'm keeping BU, UCLA, USC, Harvard and Chicago in play. Harvard and Chicago, just because I paid for my denials, and I want them (in writing hopefully) for posterity. BU, USC and UCLA just to see if they accept and if there is any money behind the acceptance, as I would definitely consider them.

1/27 - Just received IU-B acceptance w/ $25.5k scholarship (over 3 years). It crossed paths with my electronic withdraw on Tuesday.

Would have been more fun to get the Loyola waitlist on 1/23 :).

* - Decisions made w/ only September LSAT score

===

3/22 -

Everything's done but the Harvard rejection and BU. I'm 99.999% going to Michigan unless NU blows me away with money or at their admitted students day

3/24 -

Harvard rejection. Withdrawing from BU. Cycle done. Waiting on NU $$ before I fully commit to Michigan.

3/31 - 100% commited to Michigan. Done deal.

Just wanted to wish you luck. We have similar #s and similar soft factors. Hope you get into your top choice.

I have no idea whats up with BC, but you didn't want to go to BC anyway: Newton sucks. -Bouzie1982

mailbox thing
Friday, June 30 2006 at 08:00 PM

I *LOVE* your mailbox checker thing! I feel exactly the same way every time I peek in there and see nothing at all, or even worse, letters from comcast or some other B.S. Good luck to you the rest of the cycle, and I gather we may get the same treatment at some of these schools given the similar nature of our numbers. Here's hoping that's GOOD treatment!

I'll be looking to you for an idea of what my Michigan decision will be. Early prediction: we both get in.

Michigan & Extra Information
Monday, October 30 2006 at 07:00 PM

I did send a Why Michigan essay in early January. Unlike the hold email some regular decision people got, as a deferral from ED, we were not specifically asked to provide additional information. Obviously, it certainly didn't hurt to do just that.

How did you study for the LSAT and for how long? Do you have any personal advice? Thanks. Best of luck with your process!

UM or NU?

Where do you think you are leaning? Since you applied to UM ED, I'm assuming that's still your #1? Both are still in play for me. Good luck with the rest!

Good timing
