Additional info & updates

3-05-07: I think I'm going to withdraw from Baylor. I looked at the facts and figures, weighing Houston and Baylor, and Houston won. By alot. Why go to a more expensive school when you'll come out making more money and having more opportunities with the cheaper school? Also, anyone know why American is taking so long with me?

2-15-07: Rejected from Texas today. No surprises.

2-10-07: Arrived home from my SMU visit to find the inevitable deferral from WashU (dated 1-29-07...why did this take so long to get here?) and a letter from Baylor describing their school and urging me to attend.

2-7-07: Boyfriend was admitted at Texas!!! So proud of him. We would never have thought it was possible six months ago. Since he was accepted only 2 weeks after going complete, we're hoping this bodes well for the T14! Hook 'em!!!

2-3-07: Accepted at Baylor. Letter was dated 1-31-07 and came in a big white envelope. Nice package they sent with info about financial aid. I think I'll be attending the "Open House" on March 2nd.

1-30-07: Deferred at SMU by letter dated 1-29-07. I knew it was coming. sigh.

1-10-07: WUSTL began accepting applicants today. Not me. :( Again...part of me died.

1-4-07: The Texas Law status checker added "and is being considered for regular decision." I'm assuming this means that I am in review. Bracing myself for the inevitable rejection. I applied with the tiniest sliver of hope. I could not live with myself not knowing if I would've been accepted against all odds. As my boyfriend will undoubtedly be accepted at Texas Law, I'm preparing myself for the disappointment my rejection will bring me.

12-27-06: My long-term boyfriend (and best friend) received his AMAZING LSAT SCORE last week (169), so he now has an opportunity to go to a truly awesome school. I've applied to American, because he will be applying to Georgetown. I'm hoping we might end up in the same city, for we will be miserable without each other.

12-21-06: I noticed that SMU began accepting applicants yesterday through phone call. I did not receive a phone call. I died a little bit inside. :(

12-04-06: Received a call from a UH law assistant professor. I'm really impressed with UH's quick response time and friendliness so far.

12-02-06: Received my acceptance from UH! I'm so excited! I didn't expect anything for another week or two! Acceptance came in an ordianry white envelope; letter was dated 11-30-06!

11-20-06: I checked UH's status checker and my file is in review! Already! I'm freaking out.

Applied for the 2005-2006 cycle but was disappointed with my acceptances/rejections. Went back to the drawing board and studied SO much for the LSAT which unceremoniously whooped my butt again. I don't know what the deal is with me and that damn test. Preptested 165+ but made a 161. Anyway, my dreams of Texas Law have gone to the happy hills and here I am applying again.

Getting hooked

I see you got the Bevo Bitchslap, too. Good luck next year. But don't hate on Cougar High too much...many a spurned Texas Ex goes there and moves on to good things.

Hey, I was in LAH too. What year did you graduate?

2005

Yeah, me too. Although if you graduated in 3 years, I guess we weren't technically in the same LAH class.

Houston scoop?

Hey, congrats on your Houston acceptance and GL next year. How did you hear back so fast off of their waitlist? Reccs?

That's funny. Well, GL next year. I decided not to go there as well and withdrew my app. yesterday. Most people I talk to that have been there seem pretty unimpressed.

Next year

Just study real hard, get a 175, and you'll be a shoo-in to UT with a 167 average. But seriously...good luck. Apps probably will continue declining, and you'll have even better odds next year.

UH is a good choice. Definately take that over SMU. You'll get into American too, but it's probably not worth the extra cost. Houston legal market is the place to be if you don't want politics.

Thank you!!

Thank you so much for your impressions of Houston! Sadly, I've lived in TX my whole life, but never been to Houston for some reason. Good luck to you this cycle! I definetly think you're going to have a successful one.

Thanks

good luck to you too. I felt the same way when I noticed SMU had made some calls. In that instance I think it wouldv'e been better to not have a LSN account.

good luck

I hope you get to stay by your boyfriend. I'm doing the long-distance thing now and will be doing so for the next 3.5 years =(

For what it's worth, I talked to a former admissions dean at Penn, and he said that writing an addendum or letter saying that your SO already has a job/school acceptance in that city definitely helps. If you're still jonesing for UT, it couldn't hurt to write to them and tell them that since your SO is admitted, if you're admitted, you'll definitely attend. No need to yield protect here! I have no idea if this tactic works on UT, but it couldn't hurt. Same with American if your SO rolls a DC acceptance.

sorry about the ut ding
