thanks, good luck to you too! congrats on miami, good way to start off the cycle.
Thank you so much for the encouragement! You are off on the right foot and I think you will be very happy with the results as you have some great soft factors. I do recommend editing your info a bit just in case ADCOMs scroll through this site. I have also been out for a bit and have been around the world with the military. We should definitely commiserate with each other regarding the rest of the cycle! BEST OF LUCK AND THANK YOU AGAIN!
Good luck to you also, i'm sure you're grad. degree will help. Who knows, we could be classmates next semester.
Thanks for dropping me a line. I hope the application process brings you good news!
Thanks for the congrats, Hopefully work experience counts for quite a bit!
I too was disappointed by IL and thought that I would have little chance at WI (my first choice). I was pleasantly surprised and then got admitted to Iowa, which ranks higher than UIUC. I have a friend at UIUC law currently and he said that the new dean is focused on getting rankings up, so don't let it discourage you with the other schools! You will have many acceptances very soon! Good luck.
Sorry, that 'logged user' was me - don't know what happened.
WI has been my first choice from the beginning. I live in Chicago but Madison is a perfect fit for my lifestyle! I have spent a lot of time in Urbana, and I agree that it would be a hard place to envision myself living!
Not sure what's my #1 at this point.... A lot will depend on financial awards and how I feel about the schools after I visit them. Seattle is a really neat city, and I'm looking forward to visiting there. Did they give you a date for the admitted student's preview? If so, when is it?
You're the second person notified by email at U-Washington, everyone else seems to get letters. Do you know if there's any special reason for that? I wish they'd just send me an email. Anyway, congrats! I know they're big fans of grad degrees, so that could explain the Chiashu discrepency.
ON TEMPLE AND PITT! KEEP RAKING IN THE ACCEPTANCES - YOU ROCK!!!
That's great about U of Washington! I have decided on WI, I love Madison. What's your frist choice?
Thanks for the congrats. You deserve your own accolades; you've got some great acceptances here. Best of luck on all the rest... I don't know if I'll end up at Iowa, but it sure is nice to have some choices.
Now comes the fun part of choosing where you want to live!
Yea, I still think I would be a fool to turn down a free ride at UCONN! What do you think? I guess I still have a few to hear from and to have UCONN in my pocket w/ a free ride made the rejections that much easier...well that and the fact that my mom told me so sweetly via email...haha! What's your plan thus far?
Indiana was really quiet. I just got a postcard in the mail about "Annual Spring Law Day" on March 29. During the decision phase with them, I only got an email from them saying my application was received, and that happened to be dated the same day as my acceptance packet. So, who knows! Their office seems to be a little slower than many when it comes to sending out info. Best of luck to you! I'm sure you'll get in :)
I am heading to Madison next weekend for admitted students weekend, how about you?
Congratulations on Tulane! I have decided to stop thinking about this any longer and just accepted at WI. Waiting this long does get frustrating. What schools are you going to visit in deciding?
Long time no talk! Thanks so much! I just couldn't stomach turning down a full ride from a T1 school in the locale where I would like to practice. I think all arrows point to UCONN in this situation. Keep me informed of where you end up - I will be looking out for you! Keep in touch throughout the summer and next year! We will agonize together about why we chose to commit social and intellectual suicide by attending law school! THANKS FOR THE NOTE! I HAVE MISSED HEARING FROM YOU - SHOOT ME AN EMAIL! I should be home in 10 days!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear ya on your IU-B waitlist woes... did they give a date on your letter on when the earliest you can expect to hear from them is? Mine says May 22... Do you know anyone with experiences on "priority" waitlists?
Congrats on UW! Is it one of your top picks? I've lived in the Seattle area my whole life (except college) and can't say enough good things about the city, the people, and UDub, despite getting waitlisted :)
Well, for me it came down to Iowa, WI or the Chicago schools. I have lived in Chicago for the past 12 years and am ready to live in a less urban area. When I visited UW, there were many parts of the day/presentations that fit with what I want to do (social services gone lawyer). Madison is also a community that I love (outdoors, politics, and they have enough of a metropolitan feel). I am looking forward to a lot of the clinics and professors. I didn't visit Iowa, but I would imagine they are similar, I just don't want to live there. My comparison is largely to the Chicago schools and the law schools here feel very separate from the larger universities, unlike WI (plus WI has a higher ranking and I wasn't impresssed by the Chicago schools). WI is a well enough known school that I will still have access to the Chicago market down the road. That being said, Uof Wash. is a GREAT school so it will likely come down to the visits! Let me know what you think!
So great, but you know that. Maybe I'll see you there in the fall, but wow...not if Michigan comes through for you! Thanks for the message and best wishes to you!
I had exactly your numbers and ended up getting in around this time with a scholarship. They seem to be going for broke by offering tons of money this cycle to applicants that are typically automatic withdraws. (They just received a gift worth about 25+ mil) and that may be whats holding them up. Its interesting that you seem to have chosen UWash over Wiscy. Any reason?
It seems to be somewhat hit or miss, but I honestly think thats representative of all schools in this range. I know plenty of people with summer associate positions with large law firms in big cities and plenty with nothing to speak of for this coming summer. For anyone outside the top 20 you may need a little extra initiative, but anyone who has made a concerted effort does fine. Though they place about 60% of the students outside Indiana, like most similarly positioned schools, its largely regional. So, it does amount to where you'd like to practice. Are you looking at the Midwest or elsewhere? Whatever misgivings I have, I do perceive a real commitment to improvement. They just joined a national consortium of similarly ranked public schools in an effort to place better outside the Midwest. Plus, that 25 mil ought to make something of a difference. And I'm sure they've told you about the congenial and collaborative atmosphere of the law school -- thats all true, its an unbelievably supportive environment they have here and it permeates through to the students.
Thanks! Truth be told, I had been following your cycle as well and was really excited to see you get in -- it\'s really nice to see when admissions committees look past the numbers and give people like us who\'ve got a little bit of life under our belts a shot. And man...if Michigan came through, how awesome would that be? I can\'t overstate how excited I am to be going to UW -- I\'ve never lived in a big urban area before, so that\'s kind of got me freaked out a little bit, but every so often it sorta just hits me, y\'know? In 3 months, we\'ll be back in school -- and a great one at that! I still haven\'t gotten much in the way of information aside from the typical just-got-admitted stuff, so the Yahoo group is news to me. Would you mind e-mailing me a link to it? Thanks, and again, congrats!!! :)
Good work this cycle! Would you mind sharing your major and what field you worked in for the 6 years?
good luck!
