Additional info & updates

06/2007 - Took LSAT. Didn't prepare NEARLY enough. Didn't turn out well (147)

08/2007 - Surprise! Baby number three is on the way. I'll poor my heart out and submit my apps anyway this cycle. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky.

02/2008 - School 1 of 2; I DID NOT get lucky. Rejected. No surprise, considering my LSAT is 15 points below the median....

03/2008 - Birth of my third wonderful child, Ms. E.

04/2008 - School 2 of 2; waitlisted. Really? Were they just being polite? Oh well, not going to worry about moving up the waitlist or letter of continued interest. I've got three little people who just need me to be me right now.

10/2009 - The law school bug bit me again. :( Actually, a little bird came into my life, and told me that I *must* give it another go. Off to get my butt in gear..........

11/10/2009 - Met with admissions at school 2 of 2, and asked *if* I were to re-apply, what do I need to do to get past waitlist consideration? "Improve LSAT score, more LORs, new personal statement."

11/2009 - MUST get serious about LSAT. Signed up for Princeton Review course. *sink* there goes a butt load of money, I hope the investment returns.

12/2009 - LSAT prep course great. Stress of 40 hours of work, plus 15 hours a week of class, plus 6-8 hours A DAY of homework, plus kids that want a mom to make cookies and play Santa during the holiday season; not great.

1/6/2010 - Sleeping 3-4 hours a night for weeks now is really taking a toll. I think I am nearing a breaking point.

2/7/2010 - Not feeling good at all. LSAT was an a$$ kicker. :( Maybe I should cancel? Maybe I should just scrap going to law school?

2/10/2010 - App to school going in. Screw it. Rolling the dice here, especially if my LSAT score was REALLY terrible. STCL is the only school to which I plan to apply this cycle. Hopefully I hit the median LSAT on my Feb LSAT, so they will actually give my application serious consideration. *fingerscrossed*

2/17/2010 - 9 more days until the anticipated release of LSAT scores. Saying that the time is dragging would be a serious understatement. I've attempted many distractions, and none have been successful. I've also learned that multiple logins throughout the day and staring at the application status screen for STCL will not magically make me feel better about my pending status. :(

2/27/2010 - 155!!! That was seriously the best I was hoping for since I felt like I bombed LG and RC. One point below my highest PT. Oh well, if it gets me into to STCL then I can live with it. *fingerscrossed*

3/1/2010 - Villanova & Temple sent me fee waivers, so I applied. It's a reach, but what the hey.....and we have family there, so it is possible.....

3/2/2010 - More fee waivers keep rolling in. Most of them seem like a bit of a statistical reach, but I guess I'll keep applying to most of the free invitations. It can't hurt right?

---> 3/9/2010 - Accepted at TSU (via email). Status checker said, "Decision sent by mail." but I also received an email that began with "I would like to congratulate you on your acceptance to Thurgood Marshall School of Law....."

--->3/11/2010 - Accepted at STLC (via email). Pretty happy about that. I now know I'm going somewhere next year for sure :)

3/15/2010 - I need help. I am addicted to applying with fee waivers. I need to stop. Still, I can't resist that *small* chance they would say yes, and offer me a great scholarship. *sigh*

3/29/2010 - Signs of life surface; U of H status went to "in review"....YIKES!!

--->03/31/2010 - Accepted at Southern Illinois (via phone call). Admissions called me to say congrats, and to tell me to be on the look out for a 9 X 12 envelope with 3 year scholarship info.

--->04/19/2010 - Tennessee - received a polite rejection by email. Said they suspect I've been admitted else where, best of luck. If I have continued interest, I can complete and return attached form and they will continue to monitor their availabilty status and let me know....blah.....

--->04/20/2010 - In at Temple via status checker!!

--->04/23/10 - In at Loyola via status checker. I'm super excited about this one. Hopefully some scholly info will follow.

5/18/2010 - LOCI sent to U of H.

5/28/2010 - Cycle is pretty much over..and it was exhausting. I am proud that I made WL at so many places, despite applying so later in the cycle. Most disappointing was Loyola. I *really* wanted to go there. But they said the scholly $$$ had been depleted. They offered me a chance to defer admissions until next year, and guaranteed me scholly consideration for the next year, but I don't have another year to wait. :-(

Unless UH comes through, I'll be at STCL in the fall; looking forward to it. :-)

6/7/2010 - LOCI #2 sent to U of H. Still hanging on to hope.

6/30/2010 - LOCI #3 sent to U of H. Hopefully I am not annoying them.

07/8/2010 - WL at Cardozo via email. This officially ends my cycle. All in all, I'm pleased that I only received one out right denial. I wish a couple more WL had been admits, but I have myself to blame for applying so late in the cycle.

8/20/2010 - WL call from ND - They call on a Friday morning to ask if I may be available to receive an open seat, for class that starts on Monday. Orientation starts Saturday morning, in less than 24 hours. I can't. ;-( A couple weeks earlier I may have, but I'm already a week plus into class at STCL; no turning back now.

Best of luck on your cycle. If there's one thing I've learned during this process, it's that anything can happen!

Thanks!

Hey thanks. Congrats on your score! And I'd ditto the 'anything can happen' comment. Also, the school's that send unsolicited fee waivers may seem out of reach, but I found that they were actually the ones that seriously considered my application. Just a thought...keep the faith!

thanks for the comment, I think that is what I'm going to do for now. I still have one more school to hear from, so if I declined the waitlist, I still couldn't make definite plans yet. Good luck with the rest of your apps!

Saturday, September 12 2009 at 08:00 PM

did you apply to Cardozo full time or PT? We have similar numbers and i'm still waiting to hear...blah!

I appreciate...

the words of encouragement :) I just got to keep my head up. I've already come to the conclusion that if I have to take the test over again, I will. I'm just hoping STCL takes a chance on me! Good luck to you through the rest of your cycle...

Monday, February 01 2010 at 07:00 PM

Thanks ... UH is my 1st though ... looks like its the same for you :)

Saturday, March 13 2010 at 07:00 PM

Thanks. I'm super excited because if I don't stay in Florida, I'm going to Loyola. It's my third choice. I think you have a great shot of Loyola for sure, especially with your perseverance, work experience and family. Law schools love life experiences like that. :)

Thanks!
