Additional info & updates

I know that most of these are stretch schools when you look at my numbers. I am hoping that one of them might actually admit me.

Other factors:
first-generation college student
2 LOR's: 1 from manager, 1 from professor
Very solid PS's

1-19-06 Accepted into George Mason. Notified with call from the Dean. Packet to be mailed next week.

1-30-06 Accepted into Georgetown. I am really surpised, by both the decision and the turnaround time. Small envelope.

1-31-06 Accepted into UT. Small envelope.
**Update** Awarded scholoarship. 5,000 per year.

2-6-06 Accepted into UIUC. Notified via email.
**Update** Awarded full-tution scholarship. I never expected anything like this!

2-13-06 Accepted at Northwestern. Notified via email.
This is awesome! Hopefully others, especially URMs, will be encouraged by my results thus far. It's NOT all about the numbers.
**Update** Lots of $$$ offered (3-15-06). I think my interview really helped me to get this. I am definitely leaning toward NW now.

3-21-06 $$ from Duke. 18k/yr for 3yrs

3-26-06 First bad news of the cycle. I knew my streak was going to end eventually. Waitlisted at Columbia through snail mail.

3-30-06 Waitlised at Boalt. I think I am sensing a trend.

4-11-06 First rejection. Can't say that I'm surprised though. Harvard was a long, long shot to begin with.

way to go with George Mason. You will definitely get into many (if not all) of these schools! Those are solid numbers with a pretty challenging major.

Congratulations

Forget GULC!!! A 3.67 as an engineering major?!?!?! YOU ROCK! ;) Congrats on the acceptance. Always great to see people of color ( and first generation college students) getting in to top schools!

Congratulations

First off, congrats! My numbers are pretty much the same as yours and I was wondering how long after getting your acceptance offer from Texas did you get the scholarship award notice?

The scholarship notice came about 2 weeks later.

Congrats

Thanks. I'm still undecided as to where I am going, but I have to say NW is very close to the top.

UIUC

if you don't go to UIUC, is there any way you can transfer that scholarship over to me? Congrats on your acceptances.

Wow!

I'm impressed at all the schools to which you've been admitted (and more than a tad envious about GULC). Congratulations! Do you still want to be at Northwestern? Good luck whatever you decide.
