Additional info & updates

--Working for a large international law firm in conflict clearance since graduation in May 2005

--Applied to law schools two years ago. I was rejected by all schools, due to a low LSAT score. While I did not improve a much as I hoped, I did increase it by five points and twenty percentile points! Luckily, with the new ABA rules, most schools accept the highest score!

--Hope to stay in the Northeast Ohio area!

--Good luck to everyone during this cycle!
========================

12/2/06 - Received letter from Thomas Cooley stating they've received my application. I don't think I would consider going there. I think I only applied since I had a 90% chance of acceptance and with all the past rejection, wanted at least one acceptance.

12/4/06 - Deferred @ Akron. Decisions expected on deferred files anywhere from April-August 2007. Keeping my fingers crossed. I took a chance applying full time since my numbers are way below their full time stats. I'd be very happy with a part time offer.

12/9/06 - Received a letter in the mail from Capital stating they've received my application and will be requesting my LSDAS report soon. Also received an email on Friday to participate in ONU's admission chat this week.

12/12/06 - Application complete at NKU. Notified via email. All notifications will be sent by snail mail to address on application. Typically takes 4-6 weeks to reach a decision. They're also closed for the holidays.
Application also complete at Cleveland-Marshall. Received this notification via email. Committee generally reviews files from December until May and makes decisions as soon as possible.

12/13/06 - Participated in ONU's online chat. They did state that decisions (acceptances/rejections) are sent via snail mail.

12/14/06 - Email from Dayton stating my application is being sent for review by committee. Decisions can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Decisions would be made in writing, which I'm assuming is via snail mail.

12/18/06 - Received postcard from Duquesne acknowledging application; will be requesting LSAC report soon. Also said I will receive notification when my file becomes complete.

12/23/06 - ACCEPTED to CSU!!! I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present. I was notified via snail mail in a regular sized envelope!!!

12/28/06 - Notification of acceptance to Dayton via email. More information to follow in the next few weeks in the mail. No scholarship info.

12/29/06 - Accepted to ONU. Came in large envelope in regular mail. Letter was dated 12/20 but postmarked on 12/27. Later in the day, Dacy Wilcox called to congratulate me personally on my acceptance...nice touch!

1/10/07 - Official letter from Dayton confirming my acceptance came today. No scholarship info :( $30,000 just for tuition is SO much money!! They claim that review for scholarships are ongoing, but it's pretty clear from this site that they DO offer scholarships with acceptance letters. Oh well.

1/11/07 - Received acceptance from Thomas Cooley with a 25% scholarship. Since I'ave received other acceptances, I will be withdrawing soon.

1/12/07 - Received acceptance from Capital. Came regular mail in a large white envelope.

1/27/07 - Received acceptance into part time program at Duquesne.
Also received notification of deferral from NKU. I am kind of surprised about this.

2/13/07 - Withdrew from ONU, Dayton and Capital. I hope this enables them to expedite decisions on pending applications.

3/8/07 - Letter from Akron asking to indicate my level of interest. Indicated I was still interested but only for full time day.

4/14/07 - Accepted to Toledo, but was offered admission to part time evening program. They stated their full time day program is full.

Waitlisted as NKU...

Will be attending CSU this fall! Hope to meet some fellow future C-Mers!

Good Luck to you as well. I recommend going to the open houses and express your interest in both CSU & Akron. I'm considering it if I don't get decisions by the end of December, since I too just want to remain in NE Ohio.

I called them to ask if I was complete and they put me on hold. A different lady got on the phone and said as of friday( last week) I was admitted to the law school and they were in the process of sending out letters. So maybe call them and ask if you are complete and see what happens.. Good luck!

I was pretty excited when I got that in the mail today. It was sent via regular mail. CSU didn't tell me that I was complete, so this was a nice surprise. Good luck to you too! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to get in at CSU as well.

That's Great News!!!

I was happy (but definitely not surprised) to see that you got in at CSU!

Congrats!

Congratulations on your csu acceptance. I'll be stalking the mailman until I get something from csu.

I had a similar LSAT improvement experience. It's like you're a leper if you are sub-150. The crapper is that I've got tons of WE and had a killer PS last year. Once again, the vanity LSAT imposes on adcom's rears its ugly head again. Lots of luck.

Thanks... I am suprised you have not gotten your acceptance yet. I am still waiting on Cleveland state to let me know. I was also deferred from Akron but do not see me trying to get in now that I got into UT.

Thanks

Oh thanks for the info. I do not have a top choice really now that UC rejected me. There are a few schools that I would not consider now that I have a few acceptances but we will we have to see how everything plays out.

congrats

to you as well... and good luck with the rest of them!

Yep
Wednesday, August 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

That's me. You and I are in almost identicle boats. I applied and was not successful the first time. Raised my score 5 points and had better luck so far this cycle. Working for big firm, getting my resume built up, trying to find the best school for me. Looks like 2nd time is a charm for both of us. Congratulations and best of luck as a 1L.

Great cycle for you so far!
Monday, May 22 2006 at 08:00 PM

Good for you! I'm glad to see that you're getting so many acceptances.

no clue
Monday, May 22 2006 at 08:00 PM

I have no idea where I'll end up going. I didn't expect to have this many options, to be honest. CSU is definitely one of the leaders right now. I'm sure I won't make any decision until sometime in March.

Did they say anything about $$?

thanks!

Nice job on Duquesne. I lived near the burg for 3 yrs and really liked the area. The school is tons of money though. I am still waiting for CSU. I cannot believe they have taken so long. I was complete over a month ago. Any idea where you are going yet?

Where I am going
Sunday, December 10 2006 at 07:00 PM

I am still very interested in CUS and IUindy. If i do not get in to any of those two I think I will be heading to NW ohio to Toledo. IF I get into CSU I would have to visit both of them... I am glad you already have a solid choice for a school. I heard CSU has a great ohio rep.

Thank you for your response and your information. I hope that is what is slowing down the process. It is my number one choice and I have a deposit due for another school in a few weeks so I think I am going to be out $200. I really like CSU and I am from around there. I know my LSAT isn't the best, but I thought I had a fairly good shot at getting in. I guess I will just have to be patient and hope i get in. Thanks so much!

Did you decide on going to CSU? If yes, you can email me and we can connect before school.

When is the open house?
Tuesday, April 03 2007 at 08:00 PM

I checked C-M's website and the last open house was in March. Did you call them or something? I would like to go. I will call them tomorrow to find out. If you are going, then you can email me. We can meet before the event.

I got the email
Tuesday, April 03 2007 at 08:00 PM

Hi.. Thanks for your info. I got the email today too. Since I got accepted so recently, I guess I was kinda late in the pipeline.. So, I am planning to be there since it is a hop from where I live. If you are planning to go, let me know. BTW, how do I email you. I keep checking all over the website, and there doesn't seem to be a place to find emails. I am new to the LSN thing, so I might be confused.

Yes I am excited/relieved too! I waited a long time for that. Did you go to any open houses or anything? Did you do your undergrad in Ohio? I went to Miami (oxford). I'm originally from Cleveland though so I am pretty happy about being closer to my family. Keep in touch throughout the summer!

Awesome- its great to see a fellow Redhawk! I see you were a tour guide- I was one too, perhaps we crossed paths at some point. Hope your summer is good. I am graduating today, so I should be packing lol. We will talk later on this summer before school starts :)

Hey I'm Jessica. I was thinking maybe a week before school starts, some of the lsners might want to get together at Becky's (a bar right down the street from the law school) It might be cool if most attending on lsn want to go.

Monday, September 04 2006 at 08:00 PM

hey! thanx for the comments! and yaa.. i know that LS is pertty competitive.. and i also heard the curve was a 2.7.. which is normal for a t4/3 school! so im not really worried about that! it seems like its a good school in a good community with quite a bit of legal opportunities.. i am very surprised i got in, so i was pretty excited! i woudl def be up for prac law in the cleveland area.. so that is cool! i am just weighing my options now.. ahhh! soo confusing.. lol!
