I was in your position
Wednesday, August 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

I retook and raised my score considerably. Still not a great score, but it went up a good bit. I feel your pain with this LSAT. Not an easy test at all (for me at least). Plus I work and have a life so I was not able to study as much as I liked. Feel free to email me and I will send you details of my numbers. I am not posting them at the moment because I am a bit paranoid about admins looking at the site. How did your diagnostics go? Any idea where you will score? Don't let it get you down, it's just a test and you can conquer it! Keep in mind that where you go to school will have a mega impact on your job prospects. Sad but true, employers really judge you but where you study. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with going to a 4th tier school, just means you will have to try a little harder to get a good job prospect. Finishing in the top 25% will be crucial. Your work experiene, bilingual, and soft factors show you are hard working and that you do very well in the real world. That means a lot more than a 4 hour test. I wish you luck and have confidence that you will be going to law school in 2007. Good luck!

thanks

Hey thanks for the comment, I also retook in December so we will have to keep eachother updated on new scores. How did you think you did?

?
Tuesday, December 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Did you take a class or anything? I took the powerscore weekend class and did the logic games bible and logical reasoning bible. I hope it makes a difference

Thanks

Thanks for the encouragement about the LSAT score. Like you, I am horrible at standarized tests but do well in school. I'm praying some schools can look past this and give me a chance. If you can get that 143 on the LSAT, you'll be in at Cooley. You may even be eligible for a scholarship according to their website because of your GPA. Have you considered applying to St. Thomas in Miami, Nova Southeastern, Barry University in Orlando, or John Marshall in Atlanta?

transfer
Tuesday, December 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Is is pretty easy to transfer if you do well at your previous school? Thanks for the idea it's a good one.

Best of Luck!!
Saturday, December 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

I wish you the best and I'll pray that you get into a good school. God is great and not even the LSAT can fight against him.

LSAT
Saturday, December 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

I'm thinking about retaking but in June and for the next cycle. I want to prep this time. Thank you for the advice...

good luck
Friday, October 27 2006 at 08:00 PM

I hope you did better on the December LSAT. As you know, sadly, the LSAT is probably THE most important factor in gaining admission. I think your persistence will pay off! I applied for '05 and was delusional thinking I would get in. I think I got rejected to about 10 or 11 schools. I retook the LSAT this past September and did a little better. Good luck!

Good luck!
Monday, May 22 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hope your scores jump way up! It stinks that the admissions committees put so much weight on that.

LSAT
Wednesday, July 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

the LSAT is only 60% accurate in study, ive already taken 2 law school classes and breezed through them, sorry it wasn't my fault for having to leave because of my medical condition, I know a few people who sneaked in with low 140s and are among the smartest of their class with good grades, I also did not take the first LSAT seriously and took it cold. My SATs/Acts/and GMAT were all not good yet I somehow managed to do good still and graduate with honors. Law school has nothing to do with the LSAT, if cooleys my only option, then so be it, cowards like you do not discourage me, i will get in law school the traditional way, or the non traditional way :)

Congrats
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congratulations on your 6 point LSAT jump! I'm in the same boat as you (low LSAT, high GPA) and I know we can do this! Get some applications out there ASAP, write a helluva personal statement, and keep your fingers crossed! Ignore anyone who doesn't have anything positive to say--your credentials look like you have what it takes to become a great lawyer someday!

Thursday, June 29 2006 at 08:00 PM

what is the rule for taking the LSAT 3 times in two years? Why can you only take it 3 times every two years? I bombed it twice and am going to study and try again in Feb to get in for Fall 07. If i dont do as well i have to wait two years to try again??

CLEO
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

How did you apply for CLEO? I can't seem to find what to send in for this.

Good Luck
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the encouragement, I have been feeling really down lately. I am sure you will be able to get back into to law school. You have a great story and a lot of passion! Good Luck

AAMPLE
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

I remember you saying you had started AAMPLE. I've heard it's tough! I feel like I have the motivation and willingness to study as much as it takes, but I'm afraid I'll get screwed with some artibrary grade at the end so they don't have to let me in. What exactly were your thoughts about the program? Good or bad?

LSAT
Saturday, October 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I concur with you on LSAT. Here is the thing bro.. People who score high on LSAT are predicted to do good in law school. That is what research says. However, the whole stmt is reversed by many here on LSN and adm committees.. i.e if you dont do well on LSAT, its likely you wont do good. So who is now making the logical flaw? haah. its time people realize that those who do good on lsat may be great in law school, however not all those that did great in law schools had great lsats. anyway i will shut up and quit giving lsat lectures cus it is really not gonna change anything. like every year, *most* people will be summarized by two numbers this cycle too. good luck to you just keep your positive attitude! it will take you a looong way. trust me.

Thanks!
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the comment! It definitely brightened my day! It looks like you have a great line up of schools and I'm positive you'll see some great results soon! Your persistance is incredible--I'm sure you'll make a great lawyer in the near future :)

Hey Bud
Wednesday, August 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

Good to hear from you. Hope that everything works out, I have think it will. Now the waiting (for your decisions). I was stalking the mail man and checking my emails every 5 minutes. Have you been to visit Widener? The Delaware campus is very nice, and the Harrisburg campus is great because it is right in the state capital. Hope you get your number 1 choice. Best of luck.

Re:
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I don't think I'll be accepting the AAMPLE program from NYLS. It's exactly like Nova's. I'm glad you got in another LSAT retake--I am SURE you'll see an increase! I'm pulling for you!

Feb LSAT
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

Do you know what day the February LSAT scores are released? I have a lot of applications on hold until after these scores are released. Hope you see an improvement in your score!

Feb LSAT
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

No, sorry I meant that I've been deferred because admissions is waiting on everyone else's LSAT to come through so they can compare me. I was just curious as to how long it might be before I hear back, but I guess there's no way I can predict that. Hope everything went well for you on test day! I'm sure someone as determined as yourself will see a big improvement!

LSAT in Feb
Saturday, March 03 2007 at 07:00 PM

How did you do on the LSAT? Were you satisfied with your score?

Re:
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey there-- First of all, congratulations on your two deferrals! That IS a great sign and I've noticed that in the previous cycles, deferrals turn into acceptances more often than not. The waiting part sucks, but I guess that's just part of it. In reference to your post, I think my personal statement and possibly my work experience were the source of me getting waitlisted and deferred at schools that I should have been rejected to for my low LSAT score. I worked throughout my entire college career and have had experience working for a Fortune 500 company and over 2 years with the municipal government. I've had some hardships and disadvantages in my life, so I wrote my personal statement about them. I tried to not present them as excuses for a low LSAT, but rather as motivation to go to law school and make a difference in people's lives. Hope this helps you understand a little more--I hope to see some acceptances pop up soon! I'm sure you'll succeed; you seem like you have great perserverence and motivation!

Re: FIU
Monday, September 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

No kidding, I spent a fair amount of time in east Miami (Brickell area) and on Miami Beach and I think I would get WAY too distracted if FIU were there! Should I end up going there, I think I'd live in east Miami anyway because the area is much better. Traffic wasn't as bad as I expected and getting to FIU didn't take that long. What school is your top choice?

FIU
Monday, October 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

Rsiegert's wall said you had good info on FIU. Would you mind sharing? GOOD LUCK I HOPE IT WORKS OUT. F THE LSAT!!!

hey sorry

I just emailed you back and didn't know who it was until i saw this post. Yes I go to FIT for grad school.

Thanks
Wednesday, February 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I hope you did significantly well enough to increase your score. I'm sure you did. The fact is that people are right. Some 4th tier schools are highly underrated. Cooley is one of them. I have a friend that attends classes there now and I went to their open house and outright loved it. They have wonderful professors and there is no curve, so you get the grades you earn. There is no competition because you don't have to get a grade based upon other peoples' performance compared to your own. So if you don't mind sharing through e-mail, what happened to you? What is your medical condition? All I know is that some people just are so stuck up, they can't tell an opinion from a fact. How they ever expect to be lawyers is a good question. But despite the fact that you've had medical problems, don't let that get you down. I have several, but I'm still pulling through. And just because I want to transfer schools does not make me a bad person, I have my reasons. Just know that Cooley is quite underrated. Good luck to you.
