I'm leaning towards Tech over STCL. I'm from the Dallas area and Tech has better connections there than South Texas. Both are very practical in their approach to the law, so you come out ready from both schools. I'm pretty sure I'll be headed to Lubbock in the fall. Good luck in your apps. I hope you get to make some hard decisions between great schools!
Hi, I try to get familiar with the format of the test. I had to do that for the TeXeS examine to become a certified teacher. I am not a very good test taker, but that is the method that has worked for me and it makes the test a lot more less stressful for me. Also, I am looking at part time programs because I have to work, but thank you for your kind words. I am also looking for money for school. Do you have any ideas??
Yes, I am going to the Tech reception in Dallas on the 17th. I go to A&M and I'm also a finance major! If you go let me know. I think quite a few LSD ppl will be there.
Sure, lets meet at the reception! Hopefully we will have some sort of nametags...and well, Suzy is a pretty obvious derivation of a common name...See ya there!
Thanks for your advice. I am really glad for it. Blessing and best wishes in law school. I know that you will get into the school you desire and you will get money to pay for it. Best wishes!!
have you applied to OU or not?
Congrats on your acceptances. Are you thinking about Tech?
Any advantage to being middle eastern? I am same race with almost identical numbers. Only difference is gender. I applied to UT and UNC. No news yet.
Congrats on Louisiana State! That's great news -- will this influence your Tech decision at all? Which one ranks higher for you?
Just saw your rankings!Disregard last question!
Tech and LSU.
How was your visit this past weekend?
That is a tough choice! I'm glad you liked the school, though, it sounds like a really good one. The atmosphere at Tech is probably similar to LSU, and I know the Tech profs are really great. Have you ever been to West Texas? WAY different than Houston and LA!! :-) I think you'll like Tech, though. I'm praying for an acceptance and the chance to go to the 4/1 Accepted Student's Day! GL in your decision making!
will be applying next cycle to law school. I am actually getting a M.Ed in Educational Administration. I used to live in Houston and thinking about moving back. I really miss it a lot.
Sure -- good questions! I looked at a lot of in-state programs, and Tech really seemed to be a perfect fit for me. I was also born and raised in Lubbock, so that helped as well. But I really fell in love with the law school and the atmosphere there. With Regent, I applied there mainly for leverage when I got WL at Tech. But I am a conservative Christian, so Regent also fits in with my values and beliefs. Unless I got a full ride there, I probably wouldn't go. I really only want to go to Tech, but I'm starting to be open to more options as well. Obviously, it's too late to apply anywhere else this cycle, so I PRAY I get into Tech!!!
am from New Orleans. I think you will like Baton Rouge. LSU is a nice campus. Of course, the food is great!!! Just don't gain 10 pounds visiting. It is very culturally diverse.
Well, I have a full ride at Tech. My tuition and fees can be waived b/c I am a TX military veteran. SMU is a 4-yr. part time option with only 3K/yr, which barely makes a dent. I considered working and going to school, but I want to graduate and start practicing law ASAP. To spend a 4th year in school would really suck I think.
so much for the kind words! I really appreciate it! I'll be pulling for both of us--I just wish everyone would get their top choice! I know you will hear good news soon...and don't worry about those rejections bc you are already into 3 great schools!! You should be very proud!
That's so funny bc I sat there thinking, "do I include all 3, or just include TTU and LSU?". I agree with you on Texas Weslyan. Thanks for the encouragement tonight--I needed it! :-)
Yes, I'll be there on the 1st. I believe we met at the Tech Reception in Dallas and didn't even know it...maybe. We were talking with 2 Tech attys, (one was an Ag) about football. Are you going to the Accepted Students Day?
I've sent in a deposit to Miami, but I'm still holding out on the UCs and maybe USD. I don't think my chances are too great, though. I'm just wondering why Hastings and Berkeley haven't rejected me already! I'm practically praying for it, just so I don't have to go on dwelling on that inkling of a chance. I was thinking about Louisiana b/c I thought it would be great to learn both civil and common law, esp for intl practice. But I hear, outside of Tulane, once you're in the Gulf area, its really hard to leave it. And I'm not about to go back to those swamps for an extended period of time. Hahaha... Good job on LSU and Texas Tech. Both are really great schools! I know the Houston legal market is really hot and just right around the corner from both. Have you made any decisions yet?
sorry about SMU. Did you apply only for the full time program?
Technically you cannot transfer to full time. But, after your first year you can take day classes. So if you go to summer school your first year and take about 15-16 hrs worth of classes the next two years you can graduate in three years.
You should probably go to LSU (I'm not just saying that cause I want the extra admissions spot). Check out the starting salaries. LSU kicks Tech's butt. Plus, Baton Rouge>Lubbock.
Wow... I just checked Princetonreview.com about the salaries, and you were right about Tech having higher salaries than LSU on average. Thanks for the hopeful comment.
Have you made a decision yet? Tech's a rising star in Texas, but Tiger football is awesome.
I'm about 95 percent sure I'll be at Tech this fall. I like the feel of the school, and their employment and bar passage stats are great. I want to go into criminal law, and they place real well in DA's offices. It's just a good fit for me. As for why I'm being considered with the low GPA...beats me. I like to think my PS was pretty good. I told a story about a time was a strong advocate, rather than saying, "I want to be a lawyer because I like advocating." I also have a track record of leadership and a few years work experience. Combine those with my decent LSAT, and I think adcomms realize that I'm capable of doing the work and that one really, really, really bad year sunk my GPA.
I'm about 95% sure I'll be at Tech also... I'm a little nervous because I've never even been to Texas before! Congrats on your acceptances!

Tech is cheaper than LSU, and there can never be enough Longhorns there.
congrats on Tech and LSU. I just got an acceptance from Loy-NO, but so far all the private schools are too pricey. Tech was high on my list but I didn't send my apps until a few weeks before they were due, which is not a good thing, but I'm in at a few good choices and will have to decide soon. so far all the schools I'm in at are T3 reeling from T2, which is odd I guess, but then again the LSAT wasn't a strengh for me.

Just saw you were accepted at ST. Louis, way to go! Have you made a decision? What are you leaning towards? Of course I don't want to sway you, but I would love for you to go to to Louisiana or St. Louis! :-) I know the decision-making is tough, so I wish you the best!
Do you still have your heart set on SMU PT? I'm pretty sure you're in. You have numbers within their 50% markers, and someone below you got in. its just a matter of time Im thinking. Good luck either way.
I AM SO EXCITED AND RELIEVED!!! Whew! They really cut it down to the wire! How about you? Any closer to making a decision? I think you would love TTU! (you can come, now that I'm in! haha!!!) :-) Thanks for your congrats and encouragement!!!
HAH! I told you that you'd get in. How'd you hear?
Just wanted to check on you...hope that all is well. Congrats and good luck.
About Pacific: hmm... I don't know about Sac-town. I'm not EXTREMELY excited about them. They notified me with a large packet in the mail. I was offered an assistantship for Baylor Graduate School. So, I'll probably end up doing that. We'll see, though. I'm still holding out hope for SMU. Congrats. I leave for Europe in 3 days. Did you enjoy it?
Tech sent me a letter of rejection about May 20th or so. I was shocked. I was in their median, went in for an interview, sent in an extra letter of interest, and they didn't even keep me on the waitlist. I don't know what I did to piss them off, but oh well. I'm leaning towards attending Baylor Graduate school for an MS and then either going on for a PhD. or retaking the LSAT. They just changed the rules of scoring multiple LSAT's. So, that would certainly help me.
on SMU's WL...will you be attending?
Did you take a prep course for the LSAT!!
