1. i think that you WILL get in somewhere... 2. i don't think backpacking in Europe is a wise decision...HR people do look at tenure, and quitting two jobs in two years doesn't look good 3. who knows about finding a job...its all about WHO you know... 4. who knows?
Yeah... I've heard the same thing about Gonzaga. According to last year's LSAC numbers, I'd be 80% in. This year, Chiashu has that number down around 60%. That plus the fact that the graph on this website looks favorable still makes me think that I should get in there no problem.
Your guess is as good as mine. The funny thing is they were one of my top choices. I think you have a good shot. I see that SMU pt is your number one choice. Do you work in the DFW area? Whats your take on the PT program, do you think it is looked down upon from employers?
My acceptance letter didn't have anything beyond the form letter except for a hastily scrawled note that said "Hope to see you in the fall!" When I interviewed, my interviewer mentioned some aspects of my application that he really liked, and I know that's what put me over the top.
Hi there - don't you hate waitlists? I actually initiated the interview with Tech. I just called Donna Williams back in Jan. and said I would really like to have one, so she scheduled it for me. Have you talked to the admissions office at all or sent them a letter of continued interest? Best of luck to you, I'm positive you will get off one of those waitlists. Hang in there!
Arkansas and Gonzaga I've wtihdrawn from but no can do on Mercer. Good luck.
Looks like you're having a rough cycle. Things may look up for you after your Tech interview, though. Shoot me an e-mail if you want to know what my experience was like.
Hey man, send me an e-mail and we'll talk that way about Tech. The interview is the key...
LSU has that civil law program that's different from the other 49 states. They give you a degree in both, but you have to take 97 hrs. That's compared to the normal 85-90 hrs for a JD. Where did you hear about the starting salaries? According to the US News numbers, Tech has a higher starting salary. BTW bro, you'll get into Tech. I know two other Aggies with your credentials that were waitlisted and got in. Don't know about SMU, although their PT program is much easier. Mercer is another good school. They're one of the top schools in legal writing and have been in the top 100 for a while now. Keep you're chin up for now. I know it's frustrating, but you're not going to get screwed with you're credentials.
I heard my mail. I would call the office again and simply ask.
Sorry, I'm just now catching up on my posts -- did you already have your interview? How did it go? I thought mine went well, but I still felt a little vague about it. My interviewer was pretty stoic, so it depends a lot on who you get, I guess. Update me and we can swap stories. Did he/she say when waitlisters might hear???
The rejection came via mail; it was postmarked 4/26 I think. I applied to the FT program, but their assistant dean of admissions called me last week asking me if I'd be interested in applying to PT. I politely declined.
I went back and looked at what % of LSN'ers were accepted last year from Tech. It came to about 20%. Now, if we apply the same thinking to this years' crop, that indicates that all 6 of those with an index score of 2.7 + the 1 person with a 2.8 should be accepted off of the waitlist. So, good news?
I hope they let you in.. You're right. Admissions officers are evil sometimes.. I've been waiting for an answer from Pitt since October.
Oh, I pray your math is correct! :-) How ya doin? I'm still praying for a miracle. I really hope we both get in!
I got accepted to tech about a month ago, I applied to a couple other schools but I was lazy to list them. Anyhow, Tech was my first choice cuz its close to my hometown, so I will be attending there.
That's one of the funniest things I've heard. It's actually a solid school with good opportunities in Louisiana.
I'm pulling for you to be accepted to SMU pt. It will be a great opportunity to eventually go full time there if you do well/like it the first year. Don't give up and hang in there!!! God has a plan!
I visited the school last week just to check things out and what not. It's a really nice little school with everything you'll need within the building. I tried asking my tour guide (a 2L) about the wait list, he didn't have much to say. Have you done anything with their wait list? Keep keeping on!
Fore the sake of your sanity, i dont rem applying for the pt, but i kept trying to get their attention. i dont want to leave the area because thats were my family evacuated to
can u tel me what chaisu is?
Yes, my heart is still set on SMU PT. There 2nd seat deposit was due on June 1, so I hopefully will hear something from them in a few weeks. For PT, my GPA is higher than their median (3.35 I think). My LSAT is lower than their median (158), but within their middle 50% (160-154). This makes my index right around their PT median. I really don't know what I will do if I'm not in. I'm hoping I don't have to worry about that! As far as you are concerned, I don't think that you wont be accepted. You are on 4 waitlists, so it's just a matter of time until you are in. Doesn't it suck when they don't take into consideration your undergraduate school? It a pretty subjective consideration!
I applied for fulltime. I doubt I will change my mind at this point unless they offer a nice scholarship...

Pacific Law! I told you that you would get in somewhere? Are you okay with California? I've been in Europe for the last few weeks for the World Cup. SMU notified me by email, phone and an admissions folder in the mail. Go Mustangs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW, how did Tech inform you of your rejection?

i knew something good would come through for you.
Congrats on Pacific..but good luck at Baylor! Mercer sent me the letter too....and even if Quinnipiac comes through I don't think I'll jump on it. I'm buckling down for a few months and retaking the LSAT (something I should have done a long time ago instead of sorta studying..) and reapplying to schools. Mercer will remain my number one so we'll see. Good luck in the future!
Do you have any idea when we should be hearing from SMU?
Thanks for the info. Vandy did not take a GRE score for either the Divinity School or for Economics surprisingly, which is nice for a change!
I noticed you have Loyola on your list, but did not apply. Any particular reason? Do you think getting a Master's from a reputable school will help one's application a lot, certainly if the LSAT cannot be brought up? I am currently debating between Loyola for law or Vandy for grad school. Any thoughts! Oh and I noticed your post on the discussion board concerning SMU. I am interested to see any comments.
I feel like if I don't get a yes in the next week I will literally go crazy. Law School admissions officers are evil, evil people.
