The more I look at your numbers and accepts, the more I think that Miami might be the best bet for you (assuming UGA says no). Miami is clearly the best school you've been accepted to. Any news from Cumberland?
FIU is still my first choice, but they seem determined to ignore me for as long as possible. I wouldn't even know that my application was complete if I hadn't e-mailed them. They're on spring break this week, so I wasn't expecting to hear back before this coming Monday, but still...I applied there in December. Others who've applied since then have heard SOMETHING. At this point, even a rejection from them would be welcome so that I could at least start planning for fall. Assuming I don't get into FIU or UALR, I've got a rather tough choice on my hands: either go ahead and attend Barry or skip another year and retake the LSAT. The only thing that is going to get me into a better school is a higher LSAT; there's nothing I can do about my GPA and I'm too concerned about debt to take one of my other offers. There's still an outside shot that SD will accept me, or FCLS with $$$, though. Hell, I may wind up just sending my seat deposit to Barry and hoping that I get good news from FIU or SD. Glad to hear it went well at Jones. A friend of mine from high school (and my own attorney) went there, and 5 years out he's doing well. He had a bit of a tough time landing work when he first graduated from there, but I think it would be better now that they have ABA accreditation. And hey! You still have Miami (though it's really expensive). Miami's a great school and you'd land work fairly easy in S. FL or Central FL if you decided not to go back to Bama after graduation.
Jones is only provisionally aproved and is also extremely small. Also, in the past it has had a really big % of non traditional students and I'd rather go to a school with more traditional students. I just visited FCSL and really like the campus, it is huge and really high tech, if you visit you can't help but be impressed. Also it seems to be moving up and I imagine it will at least be t3 in the next couple of years. Where do you want to end up?
I ended up not going to the open house at Jones. I got tied up at wark on Friday and couldn't get out in time. Didn't feel like driving all night to get there.(9hrs from here) Good luck.
Hi! Congrats on your acceptances. Right now I am trying to decide between Jones and Mississippi College due to their smaller class sizes and atmosphere. After visting Jones this weekend, I would have to say that it is one of the best kept secrets Anywhere - not just in AL or in the South...and a 97% bar passage rate and top notch competition teams are impressive. What are your thoughts?
I was wearing a suit and sat on the 2nd row near the middle. I just heard from MC (Jackson, MS) and will be attending there instead. It is closer to my family - my mom is an MC alumna.
It is a possibility that I may end up at Jones, however it is not my first choice. Samford is nice but waiting for the call is something that makes me anxious. They called my sister from the waitlist less than a week before class. She had already matriculated elsewhere by then.
It really seems that the schools that rejected you did so only on the basis of your LSAT score...I am positive you will do well, the LSAT is a bunch of bull-sh*t.

I jjust got a letter stating that I was on the waitlist yesterday. I have mailed a request that I remain on the list. How long was it before you heard from them after being deferred or waitlisted? Best of luck.
Good job getting into Samford... certainly makes me a little hopeful about getting accepted.
What is your take on Mercer? I haven't been... is there any comparison?
I went to Jones over Cumberland. I am happy with my choice. Our class started at 87, and I think next year the 1L class will be about 130.
I figured you would get in. Cumberland is a good school. I think you'll like it there. Plus you'll have tons more opportunities for 1L and 2L summer work in Birmingham than in Montgomery. I am down to either Barry or FIU. If FIU says yes, I'm probably there. Otherwise it's Barry for sure.
So you think you'll go to Cumberland over Jones? Cumberland is my #1 right now but I would pick LSU over it if I get in there. just out of curiousity, what turned you off about LSU? was it the civil law thing?
This is the first time i've heard of Jones Law School. Is it a respectable firm? What got my interest is the fact that it is a Christian educational system. Does it instill Christian morals and a christian system in its study or merely run by a Christian University? Please let me know your thoughts because I am considering apply if its not too late.
I just heard about Jones Law School. What do you think about it? I am considering applying there if they are still accepting applicants. What interests me is that it is a Christian University. Are the courses founded on biblical truths or merely a Christian University overseeing a law school? I am excited to hear that there may be a Christian University with a Law School that is in my reach, even though it is in Alabama and I live in New Jersey. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.
Cumberland was $26K, and Jones was $15K. (Jones is $22K next year, I think) I got a scholarship at Jones. Cumberland accepted me during orientation at Jones. I prefer to drive in Montgomery traffic over Lakeshore traffic any day. There was simply not enough difference for the extra money.
Congrats! Looks like you made a decision (lucky you). What made you choose Jones over Cumberland?
Congrats on Jones. I've heard nothing but good things about the school. Hopefully, I'll get in too. Hamline was my first choice, but I got rejected. Oh well...
Ok, so Jones offered me a scholarship and has me questioning myself now. I am visiting tomorrow..know any questions I should ask? anything I should pay particular attention to?
Relax. That is the best thing you can do between now and August. Don't spend the summer reading books on law school or any crap like that. Get your head straight, and be ready to hit it hard in the fall.
I visted jones today and talked with andy mathews who was very nice easy to talk to. I enjoyed my visit and i was impressed by the law building. i should have visted earlier, but i always kind of thought of jones as a night school for older students but most people i saw there seemed to be traditional students. i am still no fan of montgomery and i prefer birmingham as a city but i am definately considering jones, it is really hard to say no to that much money/debt difference. I have until may 18th to decide so i have some thinking to do and talking with my fiance and parents. maybe i'll see you in the fall..if not, good luck anyway, i definately have a much more positive view of jones after visiting. i'll keep you posted on my decision
I appreciate all your insight on jones and I was impressed by there law building but at the end of the day, i just wasn't excited about the thought of going to jones. i wish you the best of luck and i am sure you will do very well (4.0 gpa, o don't see how you couldn't)
I got accepted...part time only, though.
I have decided to wait until after my visit to FIU this Friday before deciding for sure. I'll let you know. Also, fiutroll, I'll be in the full-time program after this year and, given that I fully intend to take classes in each summer, I will easily graduate in 2010 if I choose FIU.
I think it is because I applied so late. It was a free application and I have heard good things. I am going to most likely go to CharlotteLaw. They have really been great and I really liked the facilities and their efforts.
Hello fellow Phi Sigma Tau member! Congratulations on attending Jones. When I visited, I was very impressed with their facilities and the bar passage rate. Being in the state capital will be very helpful in terms of summer employment. What did you think of Mercer?
Seriously...if you're planning on staying in AL, Cumberland is the best choice. Are you deferred there? If so, get a letter of continued interest out ASAP.
