11-13-07: Apparently I am incomplete at USC. That's helpful, thanks.

11-15-07 (morning): I am stir-crazy.

11-15-07 (evening): Significantly less so.

11-16-07 (morning): Has anyone recieved "complete"
notices from any of the schools I am missing?

11-16-07 (afternoon): starting to see some ND acceptances crop up, but I'm stuck at work. "Show me Potato Salad" ::stares expectantly at the sky::

11-16-07 (evening): hmmm, turns out the ND acceptances were for their fake ED. Fair Enough.

11-20-07: Home (at my permanant address) for the holiday, doesn't look like anything that affects me has gone out today. Not stopping me from going a little crazy.

11-27-07: Complete at USC, that's th most action I've gotten in weeks.

12-10-07: A large envelope from UIUC begifting me with an acceptance and a $15k per year scholarship contingent on me having a pulse. Sweet.

12-10-07: and a very small envelope from UT assuring me that it's not me it's them. Wow, I thought I'd at least get to chill on the waitlist a while. Oh wells, enjoy getting smoked in the Pac Life Holiday Bowl, I will not be rooting for you.

12-15-07: Lying on the beach in the Virigin Islands, got a text message from my roommate saying that Notre Dame gave me 10K a year. South Bend? Hmmm... Catholic school in Indiana, celibacy? (actual update 12-18-07)

12-17-07: Back to the cold of North East only to find a defferal from Cornell in my mailbox. Seems about right. I hear Ithaca is Gorges.

12-18-07: In at the F-Bomb! I would be excited to go to Smush Parker's alma mater, but I'm not sure how I feel about the Bronx.

12-20-07: I was drinking reasonably prodigiously and I got an e-mail from Tulane and a phone call from George Mason. What's up? How you doing?

12-27-07: I am not pleased.

1-12-08: Drunkenly return to an acceptance to wisconsin that takes me approximately 14 mins to decipher. Not bad, I love the idea of Madison.

1-15-08: Decision Mailed from Vandy. I'm going to break out in hives.

1-15-08: Waitlisted at UCLA. C'mon Vandy, be an acceptance?

1-16-08: Waitlisted at Georgetown. Hmmm...

1-18-08: Picked up my Vandy box this morning from the post office, I really couldn't be happier, I'm tempted to put the little A up there.

1-18-08: In at GW via e-mail. An embarassment of riches.

1-24-08: In at BU by way of a very pleasnt conversation with a woman whose name I did not catch. She mentioned BU on more than one occasion though, so I think this is what happened.

1-29-08: I have gone to decision at UVA. Not optimistic, but I am shiny.

1-31-08: Parnoia update. Adcomms lurking everywhere If you've figured out who I am I LOVE your school. If not, I still LOVE your school.

Hugs and Kisses,

2-1-08: Dinged at Virginia, as expected, which is a tragic loss for their program. I knew I should've put my .850 intermural softball batting average on my app. Also WLed at BC, which was a little bit of a suprise, but it is understandable that they wouldn't want me as a part of their genial students paradise, I am QUITE abrasive and it probably showed through in my application. Oh well. Show me USC, baby.

2-29-08: Dinged at Duke and just realized I didn't actually apply to Michigan OR Penn. Whoops. Well, I gues it's just down to USC. Take your time guys.

3-22-08: Scholarship from Vandy for $10k a year, did not see that coming. Wow.

3-25-08: WLed at USC. Don't think I'm going to fill out that form.

4-14-08: Going to Vandy. exceedingly excited about it.

They're a way for admission committees to combine the LSAT score and GPA together into one weighted number. This site calculates it automatically for the schools you list, as long as you post your numbers. If you want, you can check what it would be at other schools here: Cheers and good luck.

Different schools place different weight on your LSAT and GPA depending on their particular admissions philosophy. The index numbers reflect these weights, but for them to make any sense you need a context for the numbers. The easiest way to establish such a context is to calculate the index numbers for each schools' 25/75 splits in LSAT and GPA. To do this, find a school's 25/75 numbers and then click on the link in the previous response. You can then calculate index numbers for the 25/75 splits and compare them to your indices on this page. How individual law schools use the index numbers in their admissions decisions isn't necessarily clear, but a general rule might be: 1. If you're above the index numbers for the 75 LSAT/GPA group you're probably in great shape with decent soft factors, a good PS, and good recommendations. 2. If you're in between 25 and 75 you're probably good too as long as you have good soft factors, a good PS, and good recommendations. 3. If you're below 25, you may need great soft factors plus a great PS and/or great recommendations to get admitted . Note that some schools don't use index numbers or just don't publish their index number formulas, which is why you have a "--" in some of your rows under the Index column.

Congrats! It's one of my top choices as well. My numbers are comparable thought I submitted my app about a month later than you. I still hope I hear sooner than April, like their confirmation email said! What are your top choices? Have you heard anything about their graduate fellowship, that waives out of state tuition? That's what I'm gunning for...

wow, given your numbers that rejection from UT surprises me ( ... it really doesn't bode well for me, either, since my numbers are pretty similar). Any idea why you got bumped? Just curious.

AAAHH! I went decision on the 15th too and am freaking out. What do you think? It looks like the acceptance packages are arriving much later than the rejection letters, like 5-6 days after mailing on some people's posts. I just feel like it is too soon to hear for me. :-( Also, I'm going out of town tmrw and won't be back until Tuesday so I'm really going to croak. Please please please let me know as soon as you do! Good luck, I'm confident in your acceptance! :-)
