Extra Curricular Information

I have three great LORs.

I have one really time-consuming and intellectually challenging extracurricular activity.

There is a positive trend in my grades (3.03 to a 3.75 to a 3.95).

I have a really interesting and unique background. I discussed it in my personal statement.

Work Experience: I worked for three summers at a summer camp.

"Sent" is the date that I received an e-mail from LSAC saying I submitted my application.

"Received" is the date I received an e-mail/letter from the school itself.

"Complete" is the date that the school sent me a letter telling me my application was complete/finalized. It also reflects the date when I called the school in order to find out if my application was complete.

04/08/08 - Waitlisted by Washington & Lee. Second school that received my application, and the last one to give me some kind of decision. How do you like them apples?

The application process is certainly a taxing experience! I'm going to wait to see what my options look like in about a month.

4/28/08 - Got a call from Maryland. Am going to get off the preferred waitlist. They will call me 4/30 with more information. Absent some big change, I'm Baltimore-bound.

4/30/08 - As expected, I got another call from Maryland. My letter is "in the mail." And I'm going to law school!

I'm sorry to hear about Miami. I don't understand that with a nearly 3.6 gpa. Well, hopefully we'll get in later. Also, good luck to your team this weekend. Mine's coming up there with a chip on their shoulder, so you'll probably need it. Ha.

I applied to law school last year. Here's how the process works at Miami. Miami accepts half the applications it receives then it takes the other half and puts the other half on deferral...haven't seen many straight rejections.... Then around april/may they will either accept you off the deferral OR put you on a waitlist... then they either accept you off the wait list by july/august or they reject you.

Did you enter a scholarship code in your application to FCSL? or were you informed of the scholarship when you rec'd the acceptance letter? I just applied and they told me to enter a scholarship code on the application- wondering if that was requested from you also

I am very glad to see University at Buffalo Law School on your list. I am a first year student there and the place is AMAZING ! All my professors have their law degrees from Ivy League schools (2 from Harvard Law, 1 from Cornell Law, and 1 from Yale Law--and he wrote the textbook for my Criminal Law Course. The faculty are amazing, it is a very strong Tier 2 school is tuition that is almost impossible to beat !

Congrats on your acceptance to University at Buffalo Law School...It is a MUCH HIGHER RATED SCHOOL than Hofstra, Florida Coastal, and Wayne State. I am a first year student at UB and the place is amazing. Even if you are an out of state student the tuition is fantastic. Best wishes !

  • Thursday, February 28 2008 at 09:20 AM

Thanks for your note. Regarding the absolute need to have a car on campus. The answer is NO. There is an EXTENSIVE and FREE OF CHARGE CAMPUS BUS SYSTEM. And you shouldn't have trouble tagging a ride with a classmate when you need to get away from campus.

hey- I have 4 former classmates from Ugrad at U MD Law now, and they all told me the same thing: persistence is key. If you really want to get in, tell admissions that via letter, email, or phone call. They'll be more inclined to take you if they feel confident you will accept an offer of admission. Good luck!

I just got into Maryland off the waitlist for part time evening. We have similar numbers, so I'm wondering if this is the program you go into, and if so, how is your experience with it? I guess I'm somewhat reluctant. Thanks for the help. It would be great if you could email me with a response...
