9/24/2008: Schools applied to thus far (in order of ranking): Yale, Harvard, Columbia, NYU, Chicago, Penn, UVa, Duke, UTexas, UCLA, WUSTL
Schools yet to apply to (coming soon): Michigan and Northwestern
After those two are sent out, that should be it... it will become a waiting game.
Edit: Michigan and Northwestern have been sent out. Now it's the adcomms turn to deal with my apps. :-D
Good luck to everyone this cycle!
10/27/2008 - Toby Stock called today.
11/1/2008 - Call from the Dean of admissions this afternoon! Accepted at UT! I would love to end up in Austin; here's to hoping they want me bad enough to offer me some dollars.
11/6/2008 - Scholarship offer from UT in the mail today. Awarded the Chancellor's Scholarship (full tuition and fees for all three years). Wow!!!
11/14/2008 - In at Duke Law via e-mail. I was not a priority track applicant.
11/21/2008 - Received my Duke Law packet in the mail yesterday with scholarship application.
11/25/2008 - Toby Stock called back! In at Harvard! WOW!
12/12/2008 - In at WUSTL via e-mail.
12/24/2008 - Accepted to NYU today via snail mail. Merry Christmas to me.

for the well wishes! I enjoy your posts as well! I would wish you good luck but um....you don't need it! I'm sure your cycle will go well!
Thanks! Friday, September 5th, 2008 at 11:35 am
Thanks for the post. :) Good luck with your cycle...I'm kind of excited to get all my apps out there. If only my boss would send in that rec.
My helpfulness? Friday, September 5th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
I think with your numbers, you're not in need of much help!
LOR Monday, September 8th, 2008 at 7:23 am
Still not in...I gave them the form in May!
Thanks! Monday, September 8th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Thanks for your comments :) And your posts crack me up too!
I would wish you luck, but with your numbers you clearly don't need any. I'm sure you'll get in anywhere and everywhere you want to go! Have a great cycle, and see ya around LSD

harassment Monday, September 8th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
As far as I know, my rec has already been written and they've been too busy to fax it in! I've been trying to back off bugging them, especially since it's election season (I work for an elected official) and they're very busy. But yeah, I worry all the time about possible voodoo dolls of myself popping up in their offices.
High harmony Monday, September 8th, 2008 at 8:40 pm

re: fee waiver Monday, September 8th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
I would except I'm personally against applying to schools with no intention/interest of going there (bad experience with a certain jerk in hs who had stellar scores, decided to apply everywhere just to "see if he could get in"...)
My list might change post-LSAT, but these are all places that offer me what I'm looking for, so they're golden for now.

No!! Didn't you read what's next to my extracurrics? I'm taking the October LSAT, so I'm going to narrow my schools down once that score is official.
Come on...if you're going to be my backup singer, I expect you to be able to keep up with every detail of my life. It's part of the job.
ps: like 16 schools is so much less than 25... :)

I'm having the same problem with my recommender-- it really sucks because you have to balance asserting his/her guarantee to get your letter in with the fact that they are essentially doing you a favor. i'm not sure how to handle it-- if they don't get them in by the end of this week i'm going to have to keep bugging them :/

Hopefully soon. Depending upon when my last LOR comes in, I hope to have a lot of stuff submitted by the end of the week. I'm also not feeling very satisfied with my PS. I guess if you've got one shot, you need to make it perfect. You?

Respect the bling...it's MRS. Smarty Pants :)
I might have more acceptances thus far, but it's still early and you have way better numbers. Plus, you have mucho dinero, so I can still be super jealous!

No way I'm conferring a title to you, sweetie.
We'll play numbers or percentages and I'm still sure you'll win. Or, we can look at the numbers/percentages of common schools to which we applied. Either way, I think you win.
And I'm free to keep sipping my Haterade :)

I'll stop jealousing on the money, but I'm still jealousing on the Duke app. Oh, and just your numbers in general. Yep, still sipping on Haterade and it's DELICIOUS!

Dude.....how do you just ignore all that money from Texas? I can't stop looking at the letter and just seeing dollar bills flying in front of my face.
Hmm... Thursday, December 4th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
LSN just said you were the latest update but what did you update? I can't tell!
harvard Friday, December 5th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
how are you not immediately sending in your Harvard deposit? congratulations!
Deletion, eh? Friday, December 5th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Now I'm gonna spend the whole day trying to figure out what you deleted.
PS: Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard Harvard
ARGH
Apparently, the entire school knows I got in now (small campus, news spreads like wildfire, people care way too much about other people's lives) so I have all these students and professors talking to me about Harvard and living in Cambridge and what next year's going to be like for me. Feels like every person on this campus thinks they know where I'll be next year except ME.

Next Year Saturday, December 6th, 2008 at 11:49 am
See....I really don't know. Maybe Yale just because I really love small schools.
Ooops Saturday, December 6th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Didn't mean for that to post yet, I wasn't finished. That's why I applied to so many schools. I really don't want to do BIGLAW. I know people who are and I really don't want to be them. I would love to do a clerkship and then do PI or government.
So I'm looking for schools with good PI/Gov't connections (GULC?), great LRAP and maybe PI summer financing (HLS/NYU)...but I also really like small schools and would love to graduate without debt so I wouldn't have to worry about LRAP or about getting a high paying job.
That's why Harvard's not a slam dunk.

So... Friday, December 12th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
Hello :)
You have some interesting choices...attend that Alma Mater of our President Elect, or attend UT free of charge. What's it gonna be????
I say Harvard. There's only 1 Harvard! Oh wait, you didn't ask my opinion. Congrats on whatever path you choose!

Heh, do you update this thing as soon as you get responses like I do? (I just got the email, update the profile for my own use, and saw you'd just done the same.)
Friday, December 12th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
Heh, me too. I'm partly trying to make my profile helpful for future folk looking to see what happened and partly keeping it for my own perusal.
Right now, it's mentally down to UVA and UT (I'm assuming I'll get into UVA; look at their graph and it seems pretty damn likely). If I can get UT up high enough, then definitely UT, otherwise I'm gonna ride the cycle, take in all the relevant factors, and then flip a coin.
Honestly, though, the idea of going to a school founded by Thomas Jefferson excites me inordinately.

Saturday, December 13th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
I would pay good money to see a literal cage match between UT, Yale and Harvard. Perhaps fought by their mascots? (John Harvard vs Handsome Dan the Dog vs Bevo the Longhorn, I think we all know who'd win.)
thanks kat!! Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Happy holidays!
i still don't know Saturday, December 20th, 2008 at 10:37 am
Yale, Harvard and Michigan (esp. with a Darrow) are all pretty much tied in my head now. I might visit Yale and Harvard over winter break, since they are reasonably close by. It's all very confusing (but in a good way, I guess).
Well done Thursday, December 25th, 2008 at 3:33 am
Congrats on Harvard.
