Have a blemish that I'm looking to overcome so I will be casting a wide net. I am applying to National Reaches, as well as regional schools in areas where I would like to practice.
Very happy with my new test scores...come on reach schools!!!
Apparently the blemish wasn't as big of a problem as I thought and I am now realizing that I applied to WAYYYY too many schools. Will probably start withdrawing soon.
So I decided to go BLUE!!! For those that are wondering my blemish was not criminal or academic dishonesty related. It was merely a transcript issue that I thought would hinder the completion of my apps. It did for a few schools, but the surprising majority didn't care at all. Thankfully most of my apps were free and I was admitted to the only two schools that I paid for (OSU and Georgetown). My advice would be to not second guess yourself, we tend to make bigger deals out of some things than adcomms do....only apply to schools you want to go to, don't cast a net based on a perceived issue.
Still not sure if I want to post my stats, but I did have multiple LSATS (2), one in the 150s and the second in the 160s, never did break 170 and I still did very well. I did jump 8 points and did not write an addendum.
Personal Statements matter!!! I believe mine pushed me over each time. Every school that included personal comments, commented on my writing. Master that!
Hope my profile helps someone else.

you're URM, how bad can your LSAT really be to be "unacceptable?" with your GPA, a 165 would get you in all of your schools but Harvard.
Sunday, November 16th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
ah, I didnt mean to offend. some people just get really obnoxious about their scores. like "oh nooooooo I got a 170 I think I'll go cryyyyyy" that kind of thing.

Thank you. Let's hope both of our cycles turn out the way we want them too. Do you know what type of law you want to practice?
Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Sports law would be my dream job, although commercial real estate law is interesting (I am taking that class right now) and there are definitely some aspects of it in sports law.

Thank you. I'm not doing anything too big, but I hope it's fun. Good Luck on the December Test.
Friday, December 5th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Thanks! Someone from Dayton actually called to let me know I was accepted, a nice gesture instead of a generic letter, I thought! Good luck on your apps as well!
Major kudos Friday, December 5th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
on Dayton. You're going to law school!
Saturday, December 20th, 2008 at 1:28 am
Congratulations on Illinois with a full scholarship...Christmas came early for you.
Congrats! Saturday, December 20th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Congrats on UIllinois! I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I have a "blemish" on my record, and I wasn't sure how schools would respond, so I applied to a LOT of places. Anyway, good luck with the rest of the cycle!
Monday, December 22nd, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Thank you. So do you know what type of law you want to practice already? Is Hastings your top choice.
Thank you... Thursday, January 15th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
I'm not sure if it changed because I just got it early last week and hadn't checked it because I didn't expect a decision that soon. When I logged on after getting the decision Tuesday, the checker had been changed that day.

Thank you. Congrats on your continued success. I don't mean to be nosy, but why did you withdraw from the BC waitlist if you applied Early Action?
Friday, January 16th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
Well BC can kiss it....I am glad schools are seeing whole person rather than isolated incidents. Here's to getting into our dream schools.
Monday, January 19th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Thanks. That could very well be in our future
Congrats... Monday, January 19th, 2009 at 3:16 pm

Congrats! Friday, January 23rd, 2009 at 5:36 pm
congratulations on all of your acceptances! I see you were accepted at CSU which is my number one choice. We both turned in applications around the same time, so my fingers are crossed! Good Luck on the rest of your applications!
