ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

Rankings are from USN. Numbers are slightly fudged. Scholarship number is total over 3 years.

11/06/09 Applied to a round of schools. Will apply to a couple more in the next week or so. Saving my reach school applications till after I receive my December LSAT score.

11/17/09 Starting to go complete at most of the schools I've sent apps to, although a few are waiting for me to take the Dec. LSAT before evaluating my application. Also sent out an app to University of Houston today because I'm not sure that I have enough target/safety schools. Working on the extra essay for SMU has also delayed me from sending an app out to them. Trying to get it in asap.

11/18/09 Had to call OU to get see if they had received my application. They say they will start review in mid-December. Hastings, W&M, and American will not review my application until they receive my Dec. LSAT and I can't change their mind otherwise.

12/05/09 Just took the December LSAT. I think I suffer from major test anxiety but my curiousity for what I scored overrides any inclination for me to want to cancel my score. I suppose I will see in a couple of weeks. In the mean time (two words?) I will be perfecting the rest of my apps and sending those in so that schools will have them by the time scores come in!

12/11/09 I just got accepted into my first LAW SCHOOL!! I got a call from OU Law this afternoon telling me that I was accepted into their Fall 2010 class. It is definitely exciting to be accepted into my first school and a huge weight off my shoulders. I'm going to law school!

12/14/09 Officially sent out my last applications today. I probably will leave it at the 13 schools that I have now unless some other school that I'm interested in gives me a fee waiver because this is expensive!

12/28/09 December LSAT scores were released... improved my score by 3 points. Not as much as I had hoped but it's better than nothing! Also currently under review at Illinois, fingers crossed, I really want to get in!!!

1/08/10 IN at Illinois with 10K per year scholarship (same with Oklahoma)!! Under review at Houston now.

1/15/10 In at American and also under review at Berkeley and Davis. Berkeley is a long shot but a girl's gotta dream :).

1/23/10 In at Washington and Lee! Hoping to hear back from more schools now :).

1/29/10 In at SMU! Received a call, scholarship info should come in a month. Also received scholarship offer from W&L for 5,500/yr contingent on maintaining 3.0 gpa. Also IN at Davis!! I s three rejections in a row. It is no longer fun to wait for my mail to come in :(

3/19/10 Waitlisted at William and Mary. Now I just need to hear back from BU and I can make my decision!

Ugh, waitlisted from BU :(. I will definitely wait this one out!

Looked up the population numbers at the top schools, and I think you're right about our non-URM status for law school. Still, I think that we're URM in the legal field. I wonder if the status works against us... :/ Oh well. Work hard, buddy. Study for the LSAT by doing practice exams. Forget what study guides suggest unless you absolutely have no idea how to attack a problem. I wish I spent less time taking advice, and more time working the problems.

Seattle's a nice place to live. The scenery is picturesque, especially with the mountains and the lakes all around the University of Washington. One thing I don't especially like is the the rain, but you'll get used to it. The University of Washington campus is beautiful, but the law building doesn't compare to some of the other buildings on campus. You should definitely apply to University of Washington if you're interested in the academic programs. However, I did hear that they accept mostly in-state residents. So good luck!

I don't think University of Washington has a resident cap, but last year's incoming class was 59% Washington state residents. I hope that helped you with your decision!

Congrats on the scholarship/acceptance from U of I. After looking at your profile, it increases my hope that I get a acceptance and a decent offer out of them. You stand a good chance of getting money out Indiana as well. I did, with pretty modest numbers. Anyway, good luck with your cycle!!

Hey! Thanks. Looks like you have a good offer from Illinois! Congrats! I just got back from Notre Dame and really liked it. The school is gorgeous and I like the emphasis on being a part of a community. All things equal it would be my top choice, but might end up somewhere else due to the high cost. What are your top choices? Good luck with the rest of your apps.

Congratulations on your cycle so far. Any idea how you got 30K at OU Law? I go there for undergrad and they gave me a dinky 4k/year slap-in-the-face scholarship.

Yea, it was good to hear back from UI. Seems I got the same aid package as you did. Which is nice, but IU-B has spoiled my expectations now. It will be interesting to see what happens at Notre Dame. Really like the school/culture despite having no chance at affording to attend there. Anyway, good luck.

Yea! Number twin! And we have similar schools too. I've applied to BU, BC, Berkeley (total reach but its my dream), and Davis- though my interest in the latter isnt as strong anymore. So that plus American and W&L!!! Perhaps we will be classmates this year, eh? Good luck!!

  • Sunday, January 31 2010 at 05:21 PM

How did you get so much money from Wash and Lee when we have the same numbers? They offered me very little compared to you! Makes me wanna just withdraw and say screw you to them!!

- sg360girl
  • Oh wait
  • Sunday, January 31 2010 at 05:22 PM

Forget it, I just noticed that you have the same numbers, u just put 3 yr total. Okay... sorry, lol.

Yeah, gets me worried too. BC's not my top choice, but I've been trying to look out and see what happens to all my LSN number twins on the big schools. Hmmm... Bad luck. )c: W&M and BU may swing your way. Decisions are such a crapshoot in the final hours, you never know which way they'll go!

That's a rough streak. But, in the big picture, you got a streak of acceptances on the front-end, which helps I guess. Plus, W&M and BU could yet bring good news. Good luck!
